From a recent NY Times write up: "Eagle Rock became the glamour girl of Northeast Los Angeles, a crescent where the asphalt jungle meets the foothills. The neighborhood of 35,000 or so has attracted screenwriters and composers, Web designers and animators, who labor on their laptops in cafes, discuss film projects at Friday night wine tastings, and let their children play with the handmade wooden toys in a Scandinavian-style coffee shop, Swork."
Next community blocks away is Highland Park with Downtown LA & Pasadena Rose Bowl just 5 miles. Silverlake 6 six miles and Hollywood seven miles.

This was a great spot in a really cute neighborhood, walking distance from good coffee & food. The host was super welcoming and helpful- overall great place to stay in LA!
Gabriel was so helpful when I accidentally locked myself out! Really liked staying here - this is my old neighborhood, so maybe I'm biased but still. . .comfy apartment, close to some restaurants and shops with local personality, plus a nice French bistro down the street. Open the windows in the living room and kitchen and you will get a nice breeze through the place. Chickens around but no crowing, neighbors I met were very friendly. Urban but not loud, close to Pasadena and downtown - convenient to the valley via the 134, or out towards San Bernardino via the 210. I would definitely stay here again :)
Gabriel's place was exactly what we were looking for. A very comfortable space, a bright kitchen with everything you need for cooking, and easy parking. The heat takes a bit of time to get started, but it works well. The TV does not have an antennae for local channels, but it has hdmi capabilities to connect a laptop. Gabriel was also very communicative and accommodating. It was a really easy stay for us from start to finish.
Super cool place! Feels very much like a home, and very Los Angeles-y. Had everything I needed, and they left us some bottled water and snacks :)
As a bonus, I really like the east side, there's lots of new stuff coming up over there, so it's a good place to be for anyone who knows a bit about LA. I would have gladly stayed there all week!
Gabriel is truly one of a kind. He is quick to respond to any request, and if there's a problem of any sort he's quick to resolve them as well. We recently relocated to Los Angeles, and Gabriel was actually the first person we met here. With that, we found him to be very friendly, warm, and helpful. This is also our first experience with Airbnb, and it certainly will not be our last. I highly recommend Gabriel as your host if ever visiting the LA area.
Gabriel was a great host and was super on-top of all questions or queries regarding the apartment. Upon moving in, the space had been cleaned, bed made, etc. and the keys were conveniently waiting for me. The description of the apartment is accurate and the location is great. It's right on York Boulevard in Highland Park and is a 8 or so minute from all the good stuff the strip has to offer.
Gabriel was very proactive in the arrangement of our check-in although he was not present. His house has all the amenities. The aircon was old but working fine. We cooked a lot too. It is a cosy neighbourhood by day but too quiet and dark at night.
The front yard was not actually part of the house, but in the neighbourhood cluster. Also, the laundry was coin-operated at the 1st floor.
