We are very excited to welcome guests to The Lake House....
All the fun and beauty of the Sierra Foothills awaits you. The fresh spring air and beautiful spring blossoms are every where . The Bald Eagles soar over the lake and you can watch them catching their breakfast. You might catch a glimpse of deer passing by your deck while you drink your morning coffee. And if you are lucky you will see the river otters playing in our cove.
Yosemite National Park with all it's splendor is a short 90 minute drive to the Valley Floor. Here is where you will find the visitors center and the trail heads, and also view some of the majestic waterfalls and granite walls.
You also might want to stop by Columbia where you will be taken back in time to the year 1852 and experience what life was like during the California Gold Rush, or visit the quaint antique shops and restaurants in Jamestown just minutes away. Murphys is also very close if wine tasting is your pleasure. Ironstone Winery is amazing with it's spring flower display.
If Gambling interests you try your luck at Black Oak Casino, a short 10 minute drive up the hill. Their 5 star Seven Sisters Restaurant is a fabulous place to have a first class dining experience.
While staying with us you will have your own private floor of our home. Complete with bath, entrance, and deck . While there is a small microwave and coffee pot in the suite, we are sorry but there are no cooking facilities available, but you might enjoy an evening camp fire complete with marshmallows (weather permitting).
We love meeting people from all over the world, everyone is welcome... Can't wait to meet you!
Lower level, Private entry, own deck with seating area, campfire when weather permits.
We will be as accessible or inaccessible as guests desire.
Besides the beautiful sunsets and watching all the wildlife on the lake, our neighborhood consists of other large single family homes on one side and a forest on the other.
We are 3 miles to downtown Sonora, public transit is limited in our small rural community.
The $15 extra person charge per night is charged for all children 2 years and older. 2 night minimum stay for parties of 5, and all holiday weekends.
Guests will have access to the whole lower level of our home. Including the lower deck. They will also have access to a paddle boat and a canoe when weather and lake conditions permit.
Interaction with Guests
As much and as little as they desire.
Our home, while feeling very remote and close to nature, is actually minutes away from dining (fancy to fast food), shopping (grocery, small town and even a few big box) and very much central to all the activities Tuolumne County has to offer.
Access to limited public transit is a few miles from our house. There is Tuolumne County transit which operates small buses and also YART (Yosemite Area Rapid Transit) which in the summer offers transit to Yosemite Park (this is a slow way to get to and from Yosemite though).
We are a non smoking home, but you can smoke outside on the deck
While we love pets we ask that you leave yours at home (no dogs please)
Such a beautiful home! Sue and Kent were so welcoming and the space was clean, cute, with a beautiful view. Would definitely stay again on our next trip to Yosemite.
I found myself in Sonora on a business trip and needed a place to rest and relax before making my way back home the next day. I was welcomed by Sue and she gave me the lay of the land and was very kind. The room was clean, comfortable, and private. The internet was fast and snacks & water were so very thoughtful. Kent did have some pretty amazing blueberry muffins for me in the morning. The views of the lake, and the sounds of the birds were quite relaxing. I would definitely recommend this place. Thanks Kent, Thanks Sue!
Kent and Sue were so kind and nice. They were waiting for us to arrive with big smiles and open hearts. The room is epic. Great view of a little lake and ducks. Only problem was were were only there for a day. Best to go for several days. Fire pit, fresh muffins in the morning. It could not have been any better.
This was the most beautiful house in a lovely location. I could have spent many more hours watching the birds over the lake and loving the peace and quiet. Kent and Sue made us very welcome indeed, the room exceeded our expectations with free drinks in the fridge/coffee etc., and dare I mention those muffins! OMG they are the best I've ever tasted - I ate 2 straight off for breakfast! Thank you both so much for being such good hosts, I wish we could have stayed longer.
Kent and Sue were great hosts! The location is really close to downtown Sonora, 1 exit away. The room was clean, organized and stocked with little goodies. We were able to come and go as we pleased with the separate entrance. The view from the room was really refreshing , overlooking a lake. Kent made his awesome muffins of pure goodness, YUM! I would recommend their beautiful home to anyone, it's so close to Yosemite. Thanks for everything!
Hello. Thank you for your support to stay in your house. It was very nice. We had been good time in your house. We never forget this time. And your muffins were delicious.
Hi, We are Kent and Sue, We live in beautiful Sonora, California, Gateway to The Southern Mines.. with our very old lovable springier spaniel Baily and our son Scott . Sonora is about 70 minutes from Yosemite National Park. Our home is right on Phoenix Lake. The bald eagles soar past our windows and deer families walk silently on the trail by our decks. I wish I could say the Canada Geese are as quiet, but they are beautiful. Nothing like waking up to fresh mountain air. We built our timber frame home ourselves (with a little help from some very talented carpenters) a little over 3 years ago in the craftsman style. We love sharing our home with friends and family, especially our two darling grandchildren Aubrey and Carter. We enjoy traveling and meeting people from all over the world which becoming an AirBNB host has enabled us to do. Hope you will consider staying with us "On the Lake"
