This place is truly magical.

Really lucked out with this place...centrally located, easy parking, great walkability, wonderful hosts....I could go on and on. Would definitely stay here again...Only reason I wouldn't recommend it is for fear of it being harder to book in the future :)
My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights in June. We had an absolutely fantastic time. We didn't have a car but it wasn't a problem. The place is close to a bus station that will take you downtown and from there you can go pretty much anywhere using the trains.
The apartment was so nice and clean and the bed was so comfortable as well. Thank you Fortuna and Barbara!
Fortuna's place was clean, comfortable and much larger than I expected! She was wonderful in greeting me upon arrival and even helped carry my things up to the place. Parking is pretty easy and the neighborhood is beautiful. The property itself is amazing and full of history. Do yourself a favor and be sure to enjoy the night view of Downtown LA from the upstairs common space balcony!
Had a wonderful stay at Fortuna's place. I had planned the stay as a surprise for my girlfriend, who was coming from out of town and knew little of Los Angeles and its history. The magnificent Carroll Avenue, with its notably high concentration of Victorian homes, located in the the historic neighborhood of Angelino Heights, was the perfect place for my girlfriend to be introduced to my beloved Los Angeles. The neighborhood which stands 502 feet above sea level, made our “Funambulist” (tightrope walker) room, itself in an upper-floor of the stately 1887 home, a fantastic place to feel elevated and removed from the humdrum below. The house also had a perch with a commanding view of Downtown and its skyscrapers, which had long ago been a sister neighborhood, also Victorian-clad and on a hill, called - Bunker Hill. The golden-hue of sunset falling upon the twinkling cityscape, while enjoying a couple of glasses of wine, was a highlight moment for us. The residence was serene and private. Fortuna and Barbara were really nice and accommodating. I would definitely think about coming back here and relive our magical stay in the Belle Epoque.
My experience at Fortuna's place was very pleasant.
Room was clean and cool yet still had a modern feeling to it.
Location was perfect for my purpose of trip to LA.
Would definitely visit again.
This listing was exactly what I expected, and was very comfortable for my weekend stay. The studio was clean and well appointed with everything that
I required for my stay. Fortuna, was very accommodating and was there to answer any questions. Overall the stay was easy and relaxing.
Fortuna and Barbara's place was amazing. We had a beautiful experience. Thank you again for sharing your house with us. All the best.
this is a magical airbnb experience. it exceeded my expectations greatly. Fortuna and Barbara are gracious and generous, and always responded immediately to any questions i had.
The room(s) are perfect, stylish, and upscale. The fixtures are all 5 star quality. Super clean, Wifi, etc. The gardens are beautiful and relaxing - with nice benches for chilling out. There's a little kitchenet, but not too much extra was provided - just coffee (no shampoo or anything but thats to be expected).
The neighborhood is really special - two full blocks of victorian houses that make for a really nice walk. And, its 1 min from Guissados tacos which was a big plus for me. Its super close to Echo park and so easy to get to downtown and everywhere else. But you still feel wonderfully tucked away, up on a little hill overlooking it all. Anyway, i had a great time and will be back.
I had a great experience at Fortuna and Barbara's place. It is a beautifully restored home and it held steadfast during the 6:30am earthquake! Barbara was extremely accommodating and made me feel at home during my long weekend trip to LA. I would definitely recommend their place. It's the perfect neighborhood to be in while visiting LA. Echo Park, Silver Lake and Los Feliz are fun and Griffith Park is in your backyard. Thanks you guys. I'l be back one day!
Great location and beautiful grounds. The view of downtown LA at sunrise from the third floor balcony is spectacular. Fortuna was available when we needed her and a great host. A fun getaway. Thanks
