This 34-acre mountain home retreat, 90 mins from Washington DC suburbs, is a unique private getaway. Hot tub in cave, swimming lake, private hiking trails, fishing creek, huge rustic firepit, all in your own private forest exclusively for you and your family. At the top of the property are soaring views with 3 miles of visibility. No need to go to the nearby state or national park, your private forest mountain park is right here. Perfect for social distancing!

The space
The house is tucked into a hidden valley with a creek at the foot of a mountain all this is part of the 34 acre property. You essentially will have your own private park complete with marked trails, soaring views, abundant wildlife, hot tub in a cave and fishing creek all to yourselves. If you like the outdoors this place is for you! Great for kids and pets too. Feel free to bring your ATV and ride on our private trails or all the gravel roads in the community. Target practice and hunting is allowed on the property if you are a guest. The cabin includes gas heating, HVAC heating and cooling, and a wood-burning stove with plenty of provided firewood. The cabin has a modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances, coffee machines/Keurig, silverware, plates, cups, pots and pans everything you need to cook and serve many guests. The cabin has fast Wi-Fi/Internet Access and smart internet TVs. Recent remodeling includes new floors, appliances, granite countertops, new carpets, and fresh paint. The cabin is made to be a cozy getaway. Each bedroom has a cozy workspace with desk and chair and fast WIFI/Internet access, great for remote work and Zoom Video meetings. All bedrooms include clean bed linens, pillows, blankets and towels.

The cabin emphasizes: privacy! The entirety of the cabin and its 34 acres will be rented out exclusively to you, with only chickens, bunnies and wild animals to keep you company. The chickens often provide dozens of eggs weekly, all of which are available to you – have some for breakfast! The chickens and rabbits have been hand raised, so you can feel free to hand-feed them (just no avocado or chocolate!). Chickens love meat scraps, and bunnies love carrots, green grass and clover.

Walking out the front door boasts acres and acres of tall trees, a lovely creek, friendly chickens, a small “beach”, and a cave with a hot tub inside( see photos!) and real prehistoric fossils on the wall cave wall. Help yourself to one of our seats on our beach with white sand and grass and read a book or take a nap while listening to the creek flow. Or, even help yourself to fishing for the trout in the creek. Also next to the creek is a private camping area with a fire-pit if you want to truly do the camping experience, all while being within feet of the cabin.

There is also a very clean and clear swimming lake in the community just a quarter mile (0.25 miles, or 5 min walk) from cabin. You can also go fishing in the lake. Next to the lake is a tennis court and playground for the kids.

The backyard of the property is 30 acres of hilly/private mountain trails with a pinewood and hardwood forest. Because it’s private property, the trails are all exclusively for you to enjoy – take a nice stroll in nature, or challenge yourself to a hike. See if you can find our tree-top lookout, 20 feet high into the mountain trees, and see 3 miles of beautiful mountain valleys while hearing the sound of the woodpeckers.

There are some old Halloween decorations up in the woods on the trails above the cabin that children may find fun to look for, but if you have young children that are scared of things like this you might wanted to avoid the trails marked as haunted trails.

Once you’re done being one with nature, the cabin has two full bathrooms with showers, and a new water-heater for a hot shower, or take a soak in our hot tub inside of a surreal lighted cave after a crisp morning hike. (The cave measures approximately 20’ x 10’ x 8’ tall inside with a 7’ long entrance tunnel with door and is solid rock with 400 million year old fossils embedded in the wall. Watch your head in the entrance tunnel as it has a low ceiling of only about 4’ high.) The cabin has HVAC heating and cooling to keep you warm or cool. We have plenty of free firewood for you to build your own fire in our cast-iron fireplace that can keep the whole cabin warm all night. Or, just use our gas heating. 3 ways to keep warm!

The closest town is Capon Bridge, only 14 minutes away, based on google maps, where you can get gas, groceries at a Dollar General & Family Dollar and a local Meat & Vegetable market, and anything else you may need. Capon Bridge is a quaint little town with a local family-owned butcher, local restaurants and more! Or, drive 30-45 minutes to Winchester for even more amenities. If you need a large grocery store with more selections there is a Food Lion grocery store 31 mins away in Romney, WV and a Walmart Supercenter 34 mins away near Winchester, VA. All these stores are located right off route 50.

There is additional Kayaking, Canoeing, Rafting and Inner Tubing about 15 mins. by car from the cabin on the beautiful clean Cacapon River, see pictures for detailed map. For a short trip you can launch at Yellow Springs North, and get out at the River House Coffee Shop in Capon Bridge, see map in the photos section.

The famous Appalachian Trail is only about an hour away from the cabin, its great hiking from Maine to Georgia.

Deer travel daily through my property to access the trout stream for water, as my property has gently sloping trails/hillside leading to the only creek for miles without going over a cliff or super steep terrain. The Trout Stream is stocked with Trout that you can fish in, right in the front yard of the cabin, just 100 feet from the front door. There is also fishing at near by lakes, just 5 minute walk from cabin. There is additional Kayaking, Canoeing, Rafting and Inner Tubing about 15 mins. from cabin on beautiful clean Cacapon River, see pictures for detailed map.

Hi, I am reliable, responsible, and friendly. I am an Electrical Engineer by training and worked as a manager at a large company many years ago. I also have an office rental business in Dulles, VA, so I have quite a bit of experience in making sure guests are happy. I also like the outdoors and hiking, which is one of the reasons I like large wooded properties in the mountains. I hope you will find my rental properties inspirational like I do. Thanks for reading.
