I have a bedroom for you in my 2BR apartment on Christopher in the West Village, with an amazing rooftop overlooking New York's beautiful skyline. Fresh from a full renovation (April 2012), hardwood floor throughout the apartment, new bathroom + kitchen and a magical red brick wall :)
I live in one room, and the other room is for you to stay.
The living room is between the 2 bedrooms so your privacy is insured. Right now I'm studying and working but when I have some time off I'm making pancakes for breakfast!
In case I'm out of town, the other room is available for accommodation as well.
Christopher Street is a stunning tree-lined street that's always alive whilst the apartment is nice and quiet in a very young & welcoming building in just a short walk to public transport (metro/bus).
There are plenty of restaurants, bars, comedy stand-up venues, great shopping and more within a stones throw. There is plenty to do and see downtown so weather you’re in the mood for a good time to go out or just a nice apartment with views (and not to the next building) after a day of shopping to unwind, this apartment is the one for you.
THE BEST PIZZA IN THE WORLD, ARTICHOKES, is just a 3 minute walk from the apartment.
Around the corner you will find the red line "1" train that will take you to Times Square in 5 minutes.
The W4 subway station is a 4 minute walk away and it will take you to almost every place in NYC using the A/B/C/D/E/F/M trains.
To the east village hop on the M8 bus that runs right on this street!
your stay includes with no extra charge:
Wireless Internet: Wi-Fi (Time Warner Cable, very fast!)
Heating(winter) or AC(summer)
Fresh bed sheets
Cable TV - about 50 channels
Fresh Towels (one per guest)
Full Kitchen for you to use, including new stove and new fridge, microwave, pots and pans ect.
BUT no pork or shellfish allowed in the kitchen (it's not easy being jewish...).

Awesome host!! It's very clean and laid back at Matan's place. I would definitely stay again. He goes out of his way to make you comfortable. I was even surprised with dinner and drinks! The location can't be beat. I was able to walk anywhere I needed to go, and the 1 and A lines are super close. The L train is only a 5-10 minute walk! If you get bored in hotels, then definitely stay here.
We stayed in Matan's flat for a week - it had everything we needed, clean and comfortable in a great location. And Matan himself was there and ready to provide any information. I'd recommend him for a great stay in new york!
Great host and the place was exactly as described. I had a great time at a great place.
We had a great stay with Matan. he was very accommodating and could recommend us great places to go and eat e.t.c. Overall he was the perfect host and made us feel very welcome. The room is small, but we found it absolutely fine as we were only there to sleep! the bed was comfy and the room had air con. the roof terrace is a bonus too, to go up at night and look at the stars.
Would definitely recommend you stay here!
We had the best time at Matan's place.
The location is super great, west village is the hottest spot in Manhattan :)
nice vegan restaurants and caffes around, young people and students (near NYU)
the room was nice, big window with a tree and the sky,
comfortable bed, central heating.
the salon is very cozy and homy, and it separates the room so we had our privacy too.
The view from the roof is amazing.
will defiantly come back!!
Matan was not there, but we could call or sms for anything.
The location of the apartment was just perfect! Lots of bars, restaurants and little boutiques in the neighbourhood, subways just around the corner, quite calm in the evening and near the hudson river, just perfect!
We appreciate the communication with Matan before, during and after our arrival so we felt immediately comfortable in this big city and just had to focus on our holidays!
The apartment itself was exactly what we expected regarding the description and images we saw, so no bad surprises.
Overall: I had a good experience at Matan's! He was flexible about my arrival time, and generally seemed like a very friendly person.
Apartment: WYSIWYG :) Pretty much as shown on the pictures. Simple, student-style, clean. I stayed in the small room - there is no desk, just a bed and small shelves.
Area/Christopher street: It's an excellent location - if you don't mind sex shops next door (which I personally found amusing:) Many great places are within short walking distance. Best jazz clubs are 5 min away. There's a great artisan Italian bakery that also serves very decent espresso. Etc. Soho/Washington Sq park are near, as are many small shops.
All in all - no luxury, but warmly recommended.
Matan's apartment is extremely well-located only one block from one of the main subway lines in Manhattan, and this was my main reason for choosing his place, as I needed to go to different parts of New York throughout the day, so it's very good for that. The room itself was really basic (it's just the bed, a small chair, a simple desk and lamp, but also had a much-appreciated air conditioner which is essential in the Summer - but I knew this going in, and so wasn't disappointed.
If you're looking for somewhere pretty to sleep, this probably isn't for you, but most people aren't in Manhattan to sleep, so you probably won't mind.
As a host, Matan was very courteous - when I arrived his family was visiting, but he very thoughtfully asked when I was planning on sleeping so he could ask them to leave so as not to cause noise! (that was a nice touch!) - but you won't see much of him as he works a lot.
Matan was welcoming, friendly, and easy to reach at all times. He checked in with me regularly to see that things were going well and was very accommodating. He's a great host!
Matan was a great host. His place was exactly as advertised. I'm a technology startup founder and just happened to be "in-between" leases when I found Matan's unit. It was a pleasure to work from the West Village for three weeks in the Springtime!
Matan really went out of his way to be helpful, including having his two sisters help facilitate my check-in and check-out process so that it was as convenient as possible for me.
I endorse Matan as a good citizen of the Airbnb community.
