AIRP residents are very welcome! We have had several groups stay with us while attending the class at AFI Theatre. They appreciate the close proximity to class and the quiet comfort we offer for studying, preparing meals and relaxing. We appreciate the US and international acquaintances we've made as their hosts.
We take our interaction cues from our guests. Some are more private than others and we respond accordingly. We are not early birds so our guests can have the kitchen to themselves in the morning and the self-serve breakfast items we offer. The kitchen can be made available as needed for evening meals. I enjoy baking and sharing the results with our guests.
Our Spring-Park home is in an urban and eclectic neighborhood at the nexus DC, Silver Spring and Takoma Park. Two Redline Metro stations are one-mile away--Takoma & Silver Spring. Our community is family oriented and quiet but with all the urban resources you need to easily shop, dine-out, see a movie and more, all within walking distance. We are also walking distance to a tranquil, woodsy park with a lovely hike/bike/jog trail along a creek.
We are a mile from 2 Metro stations and one-half block from a bus stop. While you can get by easily without a car we also offer free parking so you can enjoy transit or driving. Also the neighborhood is very bike/walkable. You will find this a convenient location from which to see the sites, work or study.
We have 2 cats, so if you are allergic, this is not the place for you. If you are traveling with a pet, your request will be thoughtfully considered and if accepted, please add an additional guest to your booking.
Since these rooms are in our home we require a complete Airbnb profile with official ID submitted and identifiable photo posted. Especially if travelers do not have any prior Airbnb reviews.

Gail and Danny were absolutely wonderful. Gail was incredibly responsive when I was looking for a place to stay, and both were super helpful when I arrived. They offered me the use of a bike while I was there, and when my plans changed unexpectedly, they were very understanding and flexible. I would stay with them again. Thank you, Gail and Danny!
The reservation was canceled 5 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Gail and Danny are great hosts, they are always helpful and accommodating but also allow for privacy. My stay overlapped with some other Air BnBers and the atmosphere was always pleasant and welcoming.
The neighborhood is nice and the listing is just a short walk to 2 metro stations as well as downtown Silver Spring and Pyramid Atlantic where I was working during my stay.
I'd recommend these hosts to anyone and would happily stay there again if I find myself back in the area.
An incredibly fantastic stay! Like many others, I attended the AIRP course and needed a place that was close by, had a kitchen, and a quiet working space - all of which are provided.
Gail and Danny are wonderful, friendly, down to earth people who have been welcoming radiology residents around the world into their homes for years and know how to take care of everything.
A great feature of staying with them was being given a Silver Spring parking pass which allowed me to park on the residential streets at my leisure.
The upstairs room was quiet, the internet was extremely fast, and the entire place was always clean. It was their daughter's old room which has remained virtually untouched since her childhood.
Gail treated us one night with some Thai coconut curry and baked some scones one day as well. Danny is a professional photographer and took myself and another resident on a fun photoshoot the night before we left. If the weather was nicer, we may have even gone sailing on their boat.
Overall, highly recommended! I genuinely felt like part of their family as opposed to some stranger staying at a house.
If you're looking to join a gym, the Washington Sports Club has a $30 for 30 day deal. I went nearly everyday and the place was clean, included towel service, spacious, and never became so busy that I had to wait for machines.
AIRP provided us with (bottomless) Panera Bread coffee/tea/hot chocolate every morning until 10:30, but Gail and Danny were always happy to put a pot of coffee on anytime you want.
I attended the course from Mar 10-Apr 4 and with the longer winter this year, I missed out on the cherry blossoms that Washington is famous for. If you're looking to see them, booking a slot near the beginning of April would be ideal.
Gail and Danny are amazing hosts. They are warm, down to earth people that provided a peaceful home-like environment. Silver Spring is great neighborhood with Ethiopian, Jamaican, and other types of cuisine Gail and Danny were happy to point me the right places worth trying. I hope to stay here again on future visits to DC.
I spent 3 months staying with Gail and Danny while I completed my internship in Silver Spring, and had a wonderful experience! They went above and beyond as hosts and were always willing to share their knowledge of the area, even taking me and another guest out on their sailboat! It was a happy coincidence that I am a graphic design student and they had their own design and photography business, and they were more than happy to let me utilize their expertise as resources for my projects. The area they live in always felt quite safe as I walked or rode a bike to and from Silver Spring and Takoma Metro, and Danny generously provided me with a bike to use. All in all, they helped make my summer in Silver Spring a very enjoyable one!

We have lived in the DC Metro area for 30 years and enjoy all it has to offer. We raised our adult children in this home. Two of the rooms we offer still display their youthful touches. We are avid travelers ourselves and have been Airbnb guests, so we feel we know what makes a good host--accommodation and flexibility without intrusion. Feel free to ask us for recommendations or anything to make your stay more comfortable.
