AIRP residents are very welcome! We have had several groups stay with us while attending the review course at AFI Theatre.

What guests like: The house is convenient to AFI Silver and two metro stations to get to Washington DC and tourist attractions. We are within 1 mile to stores, restaurants and a lively entertainment district in downtown Silver Spring and the eclectic shops of Takoma Park and a beautiful jogging/biking trail along Sligo Creek nearby.

Guest access

Guests have access to kitchen, laundry, TV/family room, living/dining room, back deck and yard, fresh linens, free parking and bikes.

AIRP residents appreciate the close proximity to class at the AFI theatre and the quiet comfort we offer for studying, preparing meals and relaxing. We appreciate the U.S. and international acquaintances we've made as their hosts.

Interaction with guests

This is a homeShare—with us--not a separate, private guest home or apartment. Please tell us during your stay if we can help make your experience more comfortable or pleasant. Including us there are likely to be other guests and common courtesies and cordial interactions are expected both in our home and our community. Guests usually have the kitchen to themselves in the morning and we try to coordinate our dinner so everyone has kitchen access to prepare an evening meal at a reasonable time. We absolutely love to hear your positive feedback and we NEED to hear your constructive feedback, as well, so we can keep improving and maintaining our home. During your stay, please do not withhold anything that might improve your experience. Since we live here we should be able to take care of it immediately.

Other things to note

We have 2 cats and will occasionally have a foster dog, so if you are allergic or uncomfortable with either animal, this is not the place for you.

The bathroom assigned to this room is upstairs and is shared with one other room.

Gail and Danny are two of the nicest people. Their home is cozy and clean and has everything you would need on an extended stay. They take great care to give their guests as much privacy as they want, but are also personable and easy to talk to. Their home is halfway between the Takoma and Silver Spring metro stations, and buses to each are available within a 5 minute walk (the bus to Silver Spring stops at the end of the street). Both stations are also walkable if you prefer a 1-1.5 mile walk instead (the walk to Takoma is particularly nice, if a bit longer). Perhaps the only negative is that this listing is for a 2nd-floor room. Their only 1st-floor bathroom is reserved for another room they rent, so you have to go upstairs anytime you need to do the business. This is just a minor inconvenience and in no way subtracted from my enjoyment of the experience in any noticeable way. I highly recommend staying with Gail and Danny and would do it over again in a heartbeat.

Thanks, Michael, I know you took time away from your vacay to write this thoughtful review. Let us know if you end up back in the area.

It was the best stay with airbnb ever. Me and my friend enjoyed great company of our host, their welcoming house and our super clean room. They did everything in order that we feel comfortable in the house. In addition Silver Spring area is convenient for shopping, traveling to downtown and finding good food in the restaurants. Gail's home is 15 to 20 minutes from the metro station and 2 min from bus station which is more than convenient. If I come back in DC I will chose same accommodation.

This listing was very accurate and it was a pleasure to stay here for a longer period of time. Snacks and coffee were available at breakfast time. Gail was kind enough to pick me up at the metro with all of my bags, and Danny provided me with a loaner bike during my stay, which made my commute much easier. I enjoyed everything about my stay here. Thanks Gail and Danny!

My stay with Gail & Danny was perfect! They go out of their way to make sure you have what you need to be comfortable. They routinely have a few bedrooms available (so if this one is taken, ask them about the others), and both Gail, Danny, and my other housemates (who were also in Silver Spring to attend the AIRP course), were always courteous and respectful. If you are looking for somewhere quiet and cozy to stay, this is for you! Only a half mile from the Silver Spring library and grocery stores, and just under a mile to the AIRP theater. I would definitely stay again in the future!

Gail and Danny were better hosts than I ever could've imagined. They were welcoming, nice, respectful, and fun! I felt very comfortable in their cozy home and would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in the area. I was truly sad to say goodbye to them. They offered to drive me to the train multiple times which was completely unexpected and unnecessary but extremely nice.

Miss you too and will be in touch! We're eager to hear about your fellowship decision. Thanks for putting in a good word for us with Luke, we look forward to meeting him him this weekend.

Danny and Gail's Airbnb was just right for us. It was clean, convenient, and comfortable. Danny and Gail were attentive while allowing us privacy and freedom to come and go as needed. We appreciated their attention to our comfort and needs. They even checked in with us prior to our arrival to make sure all would be ready when we checked in. We would like to stay again at their Airbnb when we are in the area.

We have lived and raised our children in this diverse part of the DC Metro area for 30+ years and will never discriminate against any person or group. We are self-employed, creative professionals and work from our home. Our B&B home and separate guesthouse are at the nexus of DC, Silver Spring, and Takoma Park Maryland. Both homes are mid-20th-century with upgrades and furnished in an eclectic style.

We have enjoyed the acquaintances we've made in our 6+ years of hosting travelers and have over 150 positive reviews. Here are clips from some of our 5-star reviews: “Gail and Danny were absolutely GREAT! They were very helpful getting situated in the house. Gail was kind enough to pick me up from the metro station on the first day"…"The place is very conveniently located near the Silver Spring downtown, close to metro, restaurants, gyms, convenience stores"…."Danny and Gail were attentive while allowing us privacy and freedom to come and go as needed"…"We loved the casual and comfortable surroundings and the personalities of our hosts"…."My best [B&B] experience so far !!! This place is great, especially if you're an AIRP attendee ! :)" ..."This was truly a home away from home. If i ever go back to DC, I know where I'm heading." …"The house was lovely and exactly as listed, and the neighbourhood was safe, welcoming, and a short walk from anything you could possibly need"…"Their place was clean, cosy and comfortable. Plus, I had no trouble commuting into DC every day and I felt safe in the area around their house"…."The kitchen has a lot of room for cooking and it's always clean as well. It was actually a little sad to leave"…."This experience in [street name] avenue is one of those which we wont forget. The house is clean, cozy, and somehow unique and authentic"…."Better than expected: the house is big, cute, cosy, cleaned and you have everything you need. They are always trying to help you and are so respectful….” If you're new to the HomeStay concept, you will be "living with" others like you might with friends or family only possibly with more consideration. If you are looking for more privacy, we encourage you to consider our guest home listing instead, where your group will have the entire house to yourselves.

We enjoy sailing, hiking, skiing and biking. Ask us about the trips we offer to Annapolis and sailing on the Chesapeake Bay. We're avid travelers and enjoy insights on other cultures, languages, cuisines and adventures.

Now that you know something about us, PLEASE give us the courtesy of sharing information about yourself, your group, and the purpose of your trip when contacting us about availability.

Safe travels,
Gail & Danny
