Lovely private one bedroom garden suite apartment self contained with kitchen. The kitchen has a stove, refrigerator, miicrowave, and cooking utensils. The shower (no bathtub) is separate from the w.c. The bedroom is a large room with a big closet. It is private and has a door and is separate from the living room.
It is 3 blocks to the quaint West Portal Village with restaurants, shops and a movie theatre. Close to transportation, 15 minutes to downtown by MUNI. Golden Gate Park, the Golden Gate Bridge and the ocean are close-by.
Large queen size bed suitable for 2 if needed. Can accommodate a 3rd or 4th person as I have two sleeper sofas. There will be an extra charge of $30.00 per person after 2 persons. No charge for children. There is a crib if needed.
Off street parking and free wi-fi.
Nearby attractions are the Golden Gate Park, the Golden Gate Bridge, the San Francisco Zoo and the beautiful Pacific Ocean. These are all accessible by bus within a two block walking distance. We are also close to a shopping center with a variety of department stores and large supermarkets. San Francisco State College and UCSF are also within a 7 minute drive and accessible by bus. We have an olympic swimming pool within a 5 minute walk and we are close to Lake Merced/Harding Park Golf Course. There is also a great YMCA within a a 5 minute drive.
Wonderful restaurants are all over San Francisco but a few gems are close by.
Our place is special because it is private, close to amenities and in a great neighborhood that is extremely safe. There are no stairs as this is a first floor suite and there are handicapped grab bars in the w.c. and shower area.
The Birminghams provide the nicest accommodations and we had our second lovely experience with them. They are friendly and very helpful IF YOU NEED IT but stay out of the way entirely IF YOU DON'T! The apartment is spacious, especially for two. and furnished very comfortably. They provide all the amenities you could ever require and the location is very quiet for sleeping.
The very best part, almost, is that there is a dedicated parking place FOR FREE and that allows for coming and going on any schedule. In a city like San Francisco this is a HUGE bonus if you have a car!!!
We love the neighborhood of West Portal and find it very accessible to almost any part of town in a short drive!
All around, this place is TERRIFIC and a TREMENDOUS bargain for the price. 5 stars plus by my standards, which are pretty picky!!!
Everything was just perfect. The pictures on the site do not do it justice. The place was great. Sheila met my wife and I upon arrival and gave us a quick tour. Although we didnt need to much information about the city, it was there for us if needed. Her place is located walking distance to stores, public transportation, dining, and a fine local Irish pub. Her communication with us throughout the entire process was excellent We could not have been happier with our selection. Gorgeous place, nice and quiet, We would recommend it highly and look forward to staying there again
We didn't get to meet Sheila but was well greeted by her husband. Our overall experience was excellent, the house was well kept and the location was great. We would recommend.
Apartment was great. We could not have ask for anything better. It has a wonderful fireplace and very clean. George was an exceptional host and sent us to the best restaurant. We are sorry we did not get to meet Sheila but I am sure we will in the future as we definitely plan to rent this place again. Thanks again for your hospitality and the goodies you left us. Jim and JoAnn
Shelia is a terrific hostess. The apartment is gorgeous, spacious, and has everything you need for a pleasant stay. Sheila thought of many details to help guests be comfortable: from the basic (clean linens and towels, comfy bed) to the deluxe (coffee and tea maker, toaster, full fridge, full stove and oven, all the cooking utensils you would need). The apartment includes a lovely patio. The West Portal neighborhood is a great place to walk and eat -- very safe. If you are driving in on the weekend, there is plenty of street parking; otherwise be aware of the strict parking regulations. Sheila allows guests to park in the driveway, so parking should not be an issue Public transit is within 3 blocks via the L Taraval Muni bus, which takes you downtown and the 28 which takes you to Fort Mason. I highly recommend staying here.
Sheila was the best host i hv ever met during my visit in us. The room was big enough for me and my frd miller. Miller slept on the sofa bed while i enjoyed sleeping in a king size bed. Miller mentioned his conversation with sheila^s husband was very very informative. Parking was convenient but do pay attention to the sign. It was located in a quiet neighbourhood i really loved it. Anyway would definitely stay in sheila^s once i came to visit again.
Sheila was a very gracious host and was able to accommodate our late check in. The unit had a lovely fireplace, and she left us with bagels, cream cheese, tangerines, and OJ for the next morning. The bedroom and living room were spacious, though the bed has a very hard mattress, which may be uncomfortable for side sleepers (like myself). The toilet and sink are separate from the shower, which is actually quite handy, though the shower itself is extremely small--about 2'x2.5'. My 6'1" boyfriend found it a bit difficult to move around in. The area is great--only a couple blocks from Safeway and public transit, and off-street parking is rare and awesome for SF. I would definitely recommend staying here.
We appreciated Shelia and George's hospitality! The fruit and drinks were very much appreciated. Thank you for accommodating our son as well. We enjoyed our five days in SF and especially were grateful for your safe, comfortable, and conveniently located apartment!
This was our second stay at this PERFECT airbnb apartment. We really appreciate the amenities. Thanks very much!
Lovely apartment. Quiet, clean and spacious. West Portal is a residential neighborhood with fairly easy access to many of the livelier and busier areas of San Francisco. Sheila's place is easy walking distance (less than 10 minutes) to convenient public transportation.
As a host, Sheila was excellent. She was available and helpful when I had a question, and otherwise, I felt that I had my own quiet space to myself.
If you're looking for an inexpensive apartment with easy access to both the Avenues (ocean side of San Francisco) and downtown, it doesn't get much better than this.
