An independent private duplex, part of a large two acre property called Beo's house, with amazing views, a constant cool breeze and a quiet, lush garden.
Amenities on the property include an eleven-meter long, “infinity” style, shared swimming pool, which overlooks the coast with two covered areas next to it as well as plenty of lounge chairs tables and sunshades. There is also a covered parking area outside.
Located in the Bukit area of Bali very close to world class surfing spots like Padang Padang and Uluwatu. Also nearby are restaurants and spectacular beaches. The airport is 15 kilometers away, and just beyond that lays Seminyak and the greater Denpasar area.
The “Surf Lodge” has two large bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, a living room and porch that overlooks the swimming pool and ocean views, as well as free access to high speed wireless Internet. The first bedroom has a large and comfortable double bed and is air-conditioned.
The second bedroom is on the top floor of the building and although it doesn’t have air-conditioning, it has a large double bed on an open floor plan, which is kept quite cool by a constant breeze from the valley behind it. This top floor bedroom also has the best views in the house, both to the north and south with it’s own private porch to relax.
Your host Carlos is a long time resident in Bali and is supported by Ramona, a German girl, who has been living in Bali for a couple of years. They will be able to help you organizing car or motorbike rental, a guide for day trips around the Island, or advice if you want to venture independently, or any other needs that you may have.
There are four staff members who take care of the housekeeping and maintain the property they work on a permanent basis six days a week, excluding major holidays. They are friendly and quite approachable.
We have a car and driver that can be arranged for airport pickup.
Locally there are plenty of services available; we have put together a bit of information about them in a guidebook that will be available to you upon your arrival.
To list a few:
Motorbike and car rental (essential for getting around)
Supermarkets and general stores
Surf schools, yoga centers, a massage service
A local guide for day trips to see the sights in Bali
The listing price is for two guests, however, up to four people can sleep in this space. The price for each extra person is 29USD per person per night.
We have 4 spaces in the property.
Each one is very private with AC bedroom, kitchen and living area, cable TV, Bathroom and porch. High speed WIFI.
Swimming pool and gardens are to share with other guest, however even if we are fully booked it is very quiet as most of the guests go to the beach or have a tour around the island.
Most of our guests are young couples in their 20's-30's...
Interaction with Guests
Carlos is an artist painter, as the property is large there is a private art studio (you are welcome to visit). If Carlos and Ramona are in Bali the time of your stay, we are available to help guests with information or to have a chat. Of course we love to know our guests but understand that they are staying here for other reasons than meeting us. The amount of interaction is determined by our guests.
Automatic scooters are what nearly all our guest prefer, as they are very easy to ride and only cost 5$ a day.
Cars (we have a large parking area) cost 20$ a day.
Car with driver (recommended if you want to explore the island) cost 70$ a day including chofer, petrol and car.
Taxis: Ask the staff and within 5 minutes one will arrive.
Other Things to Note
Check-in is at 12pm; check-out time is 11am.
If you want to stay in the property till your departure, we provide a room to keep your luggage save and a bathroom to use.
Visits within each individual living space are welcome. The swimming pool and garden area is for in house guests only. We like to keep this area relaxing so that all guests can share and enjoy it.
We keep the property quiet and relaxing for all guests, this means that we don't allow loud music or parties.
As in most guesthouses and hotels it is standard procedure to register guests with the local authorities. For this we will need a photocopy of your passport and the visa on arrival, this is usually done within the same day and Passports will be returned to guests promptly.
Rustic yet homely, secluded yet close, breathing panoramic views!
We (2 x adults, 3yr old and 8 months) stayed at Carlos and Ramona Villa for just over 10 days and absolutely loved it. Our villa was the two bedroom one, with upstairs views sweeping across the country and ocean with Volcanoes in the distance. Just coming from a 5 star resort, we had been seeking something less sterile and boring as some resorts can eventually become, this was exactly what we wanted to experience in Bali.
Things to note:
1. Clean linen and towels are included, with daily housekeeping
2. Highly recommend own transport
Ramona is extremely efficient and available, she can put you in touch with car/bike rental at very competitive rates ($20 a day for car with baby seat). If you don't do cars or bikes, a taxi is a phone all away, which Ramona can sort out
3. It's nestled in a beautiful location, however can be difficult to initially find. Recommend get Ramona to arrange pickup on arrival so you don't get lost
4. If you have a semi reckless 3yr old, the upstairs area can be a little hazardous as it has steep stairwell and the balcony is open air. The bannister has wide slats, easy for a curious toddler to slip through. Not a worry though with a bit of furniture arranging and pep talk!
4. It has the typical Balinese connection to nature inside and out (It's rustic and open to nature). We had awesome Toka geckos at night that gobbled up any pesky insects, and my son loved catching the harmless grasshoppers (which at this time of the year, most Balinese folks are running around with their nets also catching, I think it's a delicacy?)
5. Make sure to seek out the bird at the pool (loves a chat)
6. Carlos treated us to a curry one of the evenings, nice surprise and gesture - very yummy!!
7. The entire team (housekeeping and maintenance guys) are super friendly and spent heaps of time entertaining our children - Balinese folks love kids!
We can't say enough about the villa, fantastic and wish we could spend more time. We will be back - thank you!
Beautiful big room. Pool that looks out over the coast. Friendly staff. Food close by. Quiet. Romantic and wonderful.
We had an absolutely lovely stay at the Surf Lodge. The location is perfect and that view is just amazing. Ramona and Carlos where extremely helpful and made our stay highly pleasant. Will definitely stay here again the next time Im in Uluwatu.
A beautiful place. A beautiful view. Great location. Ramona and Carlos were both incredibly helpful and wonderful hosts. Two thumbs way up. Highly highly recommended.
At our arrival we were welcomed by Carlos and shortly after by Ramona. Very friendly people. Ramona arranged for us everything we needed and provided plenty of info about the surroundings.
The location was exactly as we expected: very quite, beautiful views and a luxuriant garden plenty of animal life (including our little friend Boh). The bustling (and chaotic) areas of Jimbaran and Seminyak are within a 30 minutes scooter ride.
The lodge was clean and the kitchen fully equipped. We liked the "worn but worm" furnishing style; the open walls bedroom upstairs is a real threat if you're not scared by the nocturnal animals.
We have enjoyed our stay and definitely will consider the Surf Lodge again if we'll be back in this area of Bali.
Very cozy and private place to relax in! Our staying at Carlos and Ramona's villa was a truly wonderful experience. Very clean and comfortable bedroom with aircon. The view is breathtaking and the swimming pool is clean and beautiful. Ramona was a very helpful and accommodating host right from very beginning when we booked. Thank you!
