Contemporary North facing 2 bedroom beach house high on the hill above the Cable Bay Lagoon. The master bedroom shares the same lagoon and wider Doubtless Bay views as the large open kitchen/dining/lounge area, all open up onto the wide deck.
At the bottom of the hill, about a 200m walk or 30 second drive away are a collection of natural coastal features that have been attracting and fulfilling adventure seekers and families ever since a dirt track ran alongside the coastline.
The space
The lagoon is an empty sandy basin for much of the tide cycle. For a few hours either side of full tides it is a safe natural sandy bottomed huge swimming pool. Next to no current and completely flushed out twice a day. At any time, child and adult alike can stand-up, it’s never over one’s head. Consequently it is an ideal location to raise water confidence levels, have a first stand on a paddle-board or paddle of a kayak. Generations of Doubtless bay kids have had their first fascinating go with a snorkel and face mask in the safety of the Lagoon.
There’s plenty of parking on the hard down there, on the other side of the carpark from the lagoon is a small sweet sheltered bay with pink and caramel coloured sand. I’ve never bothered to find out what it’s called. During you stay perhaps you will give the Lagoon a name. And perhaps you will tell me your story behind your choice. I love stories.
For the fisherman without a boat, the rocky points that run out into Doubtless Bay from the lagoon area are some of the best land based fishing spots in the entire Doubtless Bay. Usually there are no dangerous pounding waves, just gentle pulsing swells.
Youngsters love the 100’s of rock-pools the receding tides leave behind. Anemones that close with a touch, scurrying crabs, underwater snails, tiny fish, Abby once discovered an adult Octopus, it disappeared.
Built in 2007, Salty Kisses was designed to make the most of the superb wider Doubtless Bay views from the site. Bifold doors open up the kitchen/dining areas to the full length wide deck, a large overhead shade sail hovers over much of the deck and sea breezes pass through. Parking on the hard, off the main road, for several cars or a small trailered boat. Amongst other homes, but it doesn’t feel like it, good degree of privacy.
Salty Kisses is an ideal location for a small group to base their Far North adventure.
Other things to note
A sofa bed is available for a child at additional cost, if required. Please contact the owner.
