The Space

Can you ask (email hidden) than this?!!
Yes, I am biased because I love my home, but I think you will too!
A very charming 1 bedroom apartment on ground floor with giant back patio. A real kitchen with enough space for a chef and sous! Stocked with pots and pans for your cooking needs. There is a television with network channels and a DVD player, no cable. Internet is wireless and quick. Radios tuned into NPR and a doc to play your ipod/iphone device. Air conditioning unit in the bedroom. The neighbors in the building are youthful but not obnoxious, everyone is very considerate.

The patio access is by climbing out the window of the bedroom, there is not a door. Nothing is normal in New York, so a window that doubles as a door, sure, why not. And the space is private, all yours, peaceful.

Neighborhood has tree-lined streets with restaurants, cafes, yoga, clean corner delis, laundry, and an incredible organic grocery store. The subway stop is Greenpoint Ave. on the G train, 5 blocks from the apartment. There is a terrific ferry on the East River, dock is 6 blocks from apartment, that delivers passengers along the Brooklyn waterfront as well as a couple stops in Manhattan. Parks, water, trees, friendly shops and places to eat-- it's a wonderful little oasis in the city.

I take good care of my home and am looking to rent it to a considerate person or couple. Not for anyone looking to have a party. There are books for you to read and comfort for you to enjoy. I take my shoes off when I walk in the door, I don't leave food crumbs on the counters because that's an invitation to bugs that I do not wish to encourage-- so I ask that you, too, do not want to invite bugs into my home while you are dwelling in it.

Please contact me with any questions and we'll find a time to meet/chat/see the place.

  • Mary (email hidden)e apartment is very clean and is in a very good neighborhood. We had a wonderful stay at the apartment and Mary is always responsive to our questions and is very accommodating to our requests for an extra set of keys. Will definitely want to stay here again the next time I visit New York.

  • Mary's apartment was a wonderful spot to spend a week in New York. Her street at the top of Greenpoint puts you in perfect walking distance to Williamsburg, Greenpoint, or Manhattan if you want to hop on a train. It's also quiet and private and offers a great escape from the frenetic points of NYC, especially in the private patio in the back of apartment. Mary's kitchen was well stocked for cooking, and she even bought us some delicious organic groceries to get us through the stay! She was very helpful and communicative through the entire process, and gave some great advice of local haunts to check out. Highly recommended!

  • A great stay! The apartment was really lovely and full of charm. The location was less than a 10 minute walk from the subway station and there were lots of cafes and bars nearby. Mary (email hidden) who really made every effort to make our stay comfortable; a guide to the local area, tips on local places of interest and everything we could need for our stay. Would stay here again.

  • I can't recommend this place enough! The apartment was perfect for us (a couple from London). It was clean, well-laid out and felt like a home away from home. The shower was hot and powerful, the bedroom had air conditioning for hot nights, the back garden was stunning and perfect for us; on all accounts it was the perfect home-base for a week exploring Brooklyn.

The neighbourhood was fantastic. Greenpoint is relaxed, safe and so easy to get around to Williamsburg and beyond. Manhattan ave. and Franklin ave are both fantastic streets. The waterfront and a short walk to Williamsburg were great and the subway is extremely close.

Mary was an impeccable host. In the early stages, she was extremely quick and friendly with her communication - giving detailed transit instructions for us. Once we arrived, she gave us a personal walkaround the space, made herself available for any questions and left the fridge filled with basics for us to enjoy. We liked her so much we made plans to meet up during our stay.

We'll definitely return and would highly recommend it.

  • A really great apartment!! Mary (email hidden) and her place was perfect for us. Clean, spacious & secure. Mary had thought of everything from local tips to leaving us a fridge full of fresh fruit & bits for breakfast. And she did not impose on our stay at all, I only saw her the one time. I would gladly reccomend this apartment & if the opportunity arrises I would love to stay again.

I've lived in Brooklyn, NY for 10 years now and it just keeps getting better and better! There are multiple layers of creativity and expression, the city is an incredible force of energy. With so many different people and places there is an endless supply of entertainment just from taking a walk, relaxing in a park, or hanging out at a cafe. And, of course, there are those days when relaxing in the comfort of one's home is the ultimate luxury. That is why I want to share my lovely apartment here on AirBnB. Traveling is a dreamy venture that adds to our individual lives. I have had some great experiences being warmly welcomed in different cities and I want to continue to pass that along here. As a guest, I am considerate and interested in my new surroundings. As a host, I am excited to share what I love about my home (my collection of vintage coffee cups that make a cup of coffee even more enjoyable to drink!) and what I love about my neighborhood. I like making suggestions of specific destinations, good cafes or restaurants, streets to walk along or venues for music/theater. The exchange of good energy on this travel website makes me so happy.
