The Space

We are happy to welcome you to Casa Guapa de Tamuziga and invite you to get to know our lovely house.

Casa Guapa is a very charming spot and earns its reputation as the"beautiful house".
Indeed it is a very adorable and exceptionally designed house.

Casa Guapa attracts attention in the neighbourhood of Tamuziga (this is the very ancient name of Essaouira) and immediately you will discover our differentness to other guesthouses in the old Medina. The individual care about our guests in a familiar ambience is most important to us and at the same time the guests have their own full privacy and space. You can cater yourselves or be pampered by our famous breakfast and enjoy our homemade moroccan dishes at home.

Two individual decorated apartments and one charming studio on the beautiful roof terrace provide convenience at a different level of prices and make Casa Guapa an excellent place to meet interesting people in a relaxed atmosphere. Enjoying the sunset with friends on the roof terrace can be the perfect finale to a pleasurable day.

The studio on the big roof terrace is truly a little paradise close to the firnament. Indeed our guests here don't have a tv or DVD player but they can enjoy the luxury of accessing the terrace directly and being in contact straight away with nature. Many plants, partly roofed seating-accommodation, an amazing view over the medina and the sea from a second terrace, a barbeque and the brand new fully equipped hobbit house kitchen shared with the Casa Guapa team create a cosy and warm atmosphere to feel very comfortable.
The studio contains approx. 15 m² and provides space for 1 - 2 people: the lovingly decorated bedroom is equipped with twin beds which can also be put together as a double bed. The bathroom contains a shower & toilet and is accessable via the bedroom.

The guests of the studio and the Casa Guapa team have exclusive access to Casa Guapas terrace kitchen. It is here that we prepare our yummy breakfasts and savoury tajines for our guests - but you are welcome to enjoy this new facility at your leisure.

On the groundfloor of Casa Guapa is "Chez Nadine". Her space of living and creativity with a small studio is private, although the sympatic mistress is happy to open her doors for occasionally sponteanous creative, social and culinary activities.
Some of the creations which have been realized in the studio, are as well part of the furnishing on the upper floors of Casa Guapa.

If you are looking for a delicious dinner on the terrace or a relaxing massage, a cleaning lady or a baby-sitter, more knowledge about craft work and special insider tips, or you want to learn how to cook moroccan food – the charming mistress Nadine and her team will be happy to be at your disposal.

If you wish to be pampered with our famous breakfast we offer you this delicious and varied experience as an extra for 5,50 Euros per person and day.

Communication is easy in Casa Guapa because we speak French, English, German, Spanish and Arabic.

Every guest has free access to the sunny roof terrace, where he can find a comfortable spot to relax.

We provide free wifi internet connection in the whole house.

If you need a taxi from the airport of Essaouira, Marrakech or Agadir, we can organise your personal driver to pick you up there and bring you straight to Casa Guapa.

Guests travelling by car can park easily and free of charge in front of the house.

Casa Guapa is located in the quarter of "Azlef" opposite of Hammam Ghita (typical arabic bath, spoken: Rita), in the middle of the center of New Essaouira.

Different to the turbulent and busy life of the acient Medina you will feel here straight away being part of the moroccan neighborhood and at the same time it is only a 15 minutes’ walk by foot to the Medina, its impressive harbour and the main tourist attractions of the city, 8 minutes to the beach and 2 to the forest.

Small taxis are also circulating for 50 cents per ride everywhere in town. The new but not touristy Hammam and shopping facilities like supermarkets, bakeries, laundries and cafés are conveniently situated just around the house.

  • We were pleased with our stay at Casa Guapa Tamuziga -Studio Terrace .Samira, Nadines house assistant was so accommodating and helpful in guiding us to the sites of Essouria, things to do there and places to eat. She even gave us a personal walking tour around the main parts of the city and told us what were the highlights we should experience in the short time we were staying there. She made us a fresh Moroccan breakfast as well.
We didn't get to personally meet Nadine this time, but she kept in touch via e-mail and made sure our stay there was a good experience.
Happy Holidays to you and you and Samira!!!

  • Staying at Nadine's place was amazing..... the rooftop is so nice and all the art works are so beautiful and gives an artistic and peaceful atmosphere to the place... We stayed at the studio and is was perfect, bedroom is nice, bathroom is very cute. The welcome was amazing and they showed us the surroundings and how to go to the beach, the medina... gave some advice on some places to go... what can I say about the breakfast? I can still remember it as if it was yesterday.... amazing crepes, home made jams, omellete, feshly squeezed orange juice....The only thing that made me hesitated at the beginning during my booking was the fact that it was outside the medina but it is actually just perfect because it is very quiet and it is always very easy to join the medina by walking (15minutes and it is safe, no problem) or by taxi (you will always find one and the price is fixed in Essaouira: 7Dirham which is like EUR 60cents!) So don't hesitate a minute, there is no way you will be disappointed with this place, it is full of nice persons, good food and peace! 100% recommended! PS. don't hesitate also to do the traditionnal hamman they are recommending, it is clean and this was one of my best experience for my week in Morocco! Hope to come back very soon.....

The breakfast was excellent. Thank you very much Samira and Latifah.
We´ll see us soon. Maybe in january next year.

    Thank you for all

  • Замечательное место! Прекрасно отдохнули! к сожалению, задержались на 1 день, деньги не вернули, зато бесплатно предоставили завтраки!
Есть проблемы с водоснабжением, но это не существенный минус.
A wonderful place! Well rested! unfortunately, were delayed by one day, the money is not returned, but provided free breakfasts!
There are problems with the water supply, but it is not a significant disadvantage.

  • What a wonderful place !!! Nadine has made an excellent job over there !! The studio up on the roof is a heaven, a quiet place to relax and enjoy. But the most important thing is that Nadine and Karim are soooooo kind, sweet and open-minded persons !!! I got the warmest of welcomes, i felt like home thanks to them. I could talk about my experience for a long time, but I think the best thing to do is : go to Casa Guapa and you'll see it yourself ! You won't regret it !

  • My boyfriend and I stayed in the studio terrace for 5 nights during a 12 night trip to Morocco and it was really great. Our favourite memories of Essaouira were Nadine and Samira's amazing hospitality, the Casa Guapa breakfast and their beautiful terraces.
Location was great - a 15-20 minute walk to the medina (which we gradually avoided towards the end anyway because they're all pretty hectic in Morocco and we'd just come from Marrakesh!) and a 10 minute stroll to the beach.
Nadine and Samira facilitated a great break - a quick local tour on our first night, beach towels, delicious breakfast, a few recommendations of places to go and things to do depending on what you're into. They even kindly washed our clothes for us for free because we were running out of clean clothes. We had dinner there on one night and it felt so good to have home cooking.
However, we also got a lot of privacy (the terrace was virtually unused past noon) from Nadine and the other guests. The fact that the bathroom is separate to the room was an okay trade-off for the huge gorgeous terrace and awesome kitchen. It just means you have to be adequately dressed when stepping out of the room in the mornings just in case there were people around, but it wasn't a huge deal.
I loved lounging about on the terrace, taking advantage of the sun but still being sheltered from the famous Essaouira winds! Would love to visit again :D

  • Really nice place! We had the upper room. For us that was perfect because there was a big terrace attached to it. Our daughter could play there.
The room was nicely decorated. Everything was very clean.
We also had a quick peak at the other rooms and they were really nice to. very spacious.

Our hosts Nadine and Samira were really nice. When we arrived Samira gave us a little tour, to get on the way.

The breakfast..what can I say. You have to try it yourself to be able to subscribe. For the breakfast and the whole atmosphere in and around Casa Guapa we would definately come back.

  • Great location in a new district. Only a 10 minute walk from the beach, another 5-10 minutes to the Beach Cafe / Watersports Rental strip (south) or 10 minutes to the Medina (North). Taxis are always easily available within a few minutes if you don't want to walk. Taxi drivers also find it very easily if you tell them you want to go to the Azelf Hamman.I liked being away from the Medina crowds and noise. There is some street noise, mostly from the Arab kids, not cars. However, it was usually at reasonable hours, and nothing that couldn't be beat with earplugs (I'm a light sleeper). Samira who is in charge of Casa Guapa speaks perfect French and excellent Englishis and is really wonderful and will help you with anything you need. I stayed upstairs in the Terrace Room for most of my 3 week stay. Note that it's really a room, and not a Studio, but you have your own cute bathroom right beside the room, access to the staff kitchen (basically Samira's kitchen to make breakfast for guests should they request it). So you have the kitchen pretty much to yourself. Best of all is the terrace, which is huge and sunny, and usually windy. So although the room is fairly small, you just need to open the door and you have a sunny whole outdoor space which I loved. The other guests from the 2 apts sometimes come up for breakfast or sunning, so you get an opportunity to meet other people, which I liked. It was never crowded and always quiet at night. I also stayed at Apt 1 for 3 days at the end, and saw Apt 2. Both are very spacious and each have some advantages. Of course this is a matter of taste, but for me #1 had more comfortable furniture (dining room table with chairs and a comfy sofa set). #2 is one floor higher and brighter, with a cool kitchen island and washing machine. Ah, and I almost forgot - it's also just around the corner from a great pastry/sandwich shop and cafe, an Italian cheese store, and some mini supermarkets. If you're a bit lost at night or have no sense of direction Casa Guapa is really easy to find because of the lovely stone facade and the green trees outside. I would definitely stay at Casa Guapa again. Next time I would come with my husband and our kiting gear and take one of the apartments.

In these times of acceleration and technological dependency it is most important to calm down and to start to share again with other people the more natural way of life back to the roots! With my little project "Casa Guapa" I want to set up a special place in a creative and artistic ambience for an interesting and stimulating interchange and to share with travellers from all around the world life experiences. To feel home and comfortable in an uncomplicated, open and warmhearted surrounding supported by good healthy food and things to do away from touristic mainstream - that's what my heart fulfillls with joy and pleasure and that is what I like to share with you;-)
