Nilgiri mountain stay

House - Private room · Supply Depot Rd, Wellington, Tamil Nadu, India

The Space

Welcome to stay at the Great grandfather's home nestled in the Niligiri hills of south India, which locally translated means, "the Blue Mountains". One of the most beautiful tea growing hill stations of the world , certainly the best in India , Coonoor is rightly called the 'Queen' of hill stations with it's exquisite tea gardens.
A wonderful way to commence your holiday is by boarding the '100 year old Nilgiri Mountain train' from Mettulapayam.

Stay in the 'old fashioned' comfort of the heritage home, enjoy Parsi hospitality surrounded by Great grand father's antique furniture and trees planted by him. Get the laid back feeling of the "Raj" in India with only the chirping of the birds, the chimes of the old clock and the church bells in the distance to disturb the peace and quiet. Go back in time and enjoy it till it lasts.
Get cozy at the fire place or sit out in the sun sipping your cup of 'Nilgiri tea' soaking in the valley view, as you hear the sound of Indian slokas waft in from the far distance and squirrels sneak past you. If you have come to relax, just doze off reading a book on the hammock!
The nicest thing in great grandfather's home has been sightings of a divine presence that blessed the home!
Come , experience a holiday so uniquely personal, no hotel can ever match!

Hello Friends! We are the Bharucha family, proud inheritors of Themi Villa, in Coonoor - Nilgiris, one of the 4 UNESCO world network of biosphere reserves in India. This house has been restored with much love and affection in the fond memory of Mr. Mherwanji Eduji Bhumgara, (Great grand father to Darius), the Chief Engineer of Coonoor Municipality, who bought this house in 1948 as the 11th owner ! Born Parsi Zoroastrians, we respect all religions of the world and are happy to meet people of different countries & cultures and to share ours with them. It was such a pleasure for us to share this cute little home with our friends that they suggested we convert it into a "home stay" for others as well! Which we did and named it, what else?..... 'Great Grand fathers Holiday home-stay' ! We welcome guests who are not looking for 'just another hotel' to stay in, but for something more personal - Parsi hospitality! We trust that our guests will use the contents of the house with the care it deserves so that others can enjoy it too. Being environmentally conscious, we would love to compare notes and ideas on the issue. We undertake to do all that we can to make our guests feel satisfied, comfortable and happy without over stepping into their privacy ! We hope they will recommend us to their friends and keep coming back themselves. Looking forward to serving you and wishing you a happy holiday and a very safe Journey to the Niligiris !
