  • The gite faces south with double doors opening onto the garden from every room.  We are listed with the local tourist office (awarded three stars).  YOU DO NOT SHARE THE COTTAGE OR THE COTTAGE GARDEN WITH ANYONE ELSE.

  • The living room has 2 shuttered double doors leading onto the garden.  There is a TV with DVD player and excellent WiFi.  This room glows in the evening sunshine!
  • You'll find the kitchen is very well equipped so that you can enjoy making meals at home.
  • Some tasty things in the kitchen to welcome you to the gite!  These were for one of long term guests.
  • The main double bedroom with a standard double bed & central heating for winter days.  Newly renovated (2019) with handcrafted painted wooden paneling and local chestnut floor.

The double doors have full shutters, so you can leave the doors open at night .  The other door leads to the second bedroom

  • Just outside the bedroom door! - the wisteria has its first flowers in April, and then again later in the summer; beautiful to sit next to.
  • This is where we swim for 6 months of the year! High in the Montagne Noire National Park, this lake is perfect for children as well, as there's supervised swimming and a cafe!
  • Our guests love the garden (and so do we!). We grow many sweet scented flowers and have herbs for our guests cooking needs!

This room is great for children as it is next to the main bedroom.
It has a tiled floor, a chest of drawers, a large mirror and double shuttered doors leading into the garden.

  • The spacious shower room looks onto the garden too, with more double doors and shutters so that you can keep the room well ventilated and secure when you go out.

  • You can eat outside in the gite garden when the weather's good!
  • If you're here in July, you'll see fields and fields of these gorgeous sunflowers all around this area.
  • Mazamet farmers' market - just a 5 minute walk from the gite!  All the fruit, veg, cheese, bread, fish and meat that you could want if you like cooking! If not, there are plenty of good restaurants!!!!!
  • There are many amazing caves in the area; this one is at Limousis.
  • We're only an hour from the Med - this is Collioure on the Spanish border - it makes a great day trip down there.
  • Iris from our garden.  The scent is delicious.  These flower at the same time as the lily-of-the-valley (April-May) - what a wonderful combination!
  • Canyoning at the Gorges de Galamus, south of Mazamet. Brilliant to try in the summer

  • There are many sporting events to watch - this one is the Montagne Noire bike rally. These guys go up 4,000 feet to the top of the Pic de Nore!
  • One of the sandy beaches at Mèze, going east near to Sète.  Alovely little fishing village with port side cafes and restaurants
  • Parrot tulips in the garden.
  • Mèze harbour. Take a boat trip or just enjoy a delicious sea-food platter at one of the port side cafes.
  • Here's the medieval village of Hautpoul from just above the gite.  Perfect walking - close to  town and this wonderful countryside.   There is now a passerelle linking the hill behind the gite to Hautpoul village!
  • This is a bit higher on the mountains - wonderful fields of flowers - just as nature intended!
  • If you like castles, this area has rather a lot! It's Cathar country - and their castles sit high on top of mountains all over the region.  We're perfectly situated for you to discover them all!
  • We're an hour from the historic city of Albi. Here's the Bishops garden behind the Toulouse Lautrec museum and cathedral.
  • Albi cathedral built in the 1480's
  • Serre de la Cariere above La Fage in the Caroux.  Amazing country!
  • Ax-les-Thermes in the Pyrenees - just a couple of hours south. This was taken in January!
  • One of the ancient pre-Roman mountain routes at the Caroux, nearby.
  • More Cathar castles .... these are at Lastours, close to the Limousis caves.  There are 4 keeps, remains of an ancient village and in Lastours town there's a great restaurant.
  • If you're here for 14 July there are fireworks everywhere!  These are at Carcassonne - Le Cite.
  • In spring and summer, the flowers and butterflies on the mountains are amazing.  There are many spectacular walks  you can do from the gite.
  • Local beech woods in winter.  It is good here all year round!
  • After a good hike in the Caroux in January
  • Montillou village in summer - close to the Pyrenees.
  • Vide-greniers (like car boot sales) are regular events on Sunday mornings.  This is of a collection of sheep, cow and goat bells we saw!
  • On the circular Roquerlan walk, one of our favourite local walks.  All in, about 7kms through pastures and woodlands high on the mountain behind the gite - not too far!
