Diamond Sky Retreat is a rustic 3 bedroom getaway near the center of Joshua Tree. Full of custom designed and built details, it offers a creative, desert inspired space for one to relax, create and/or spend quality time with others.
The space
Once a simple little homestead cabin, the original owner continued to add-on over the years resulting in a 1,400 square foot, two story home. After years of neglect, three friends turned it into a beautiful desert getaway.
Designed with the artist in mind, Diamond Sky Retreat is perfect for writers, designers and creators as a space to escape, work, and seek some quiet inspiration.
The master suite is on the second floor and provides guests with an incredibly peaceful retreat, as well as the most gorgeous 180 degree views of the basin. A Queen size bed, en-suite bathroom and a whirlpool soaker tub await you. Be sure to enjoy the roof deck for sunset/sunrise watching or stargazing.
The ground floor is comprised of the open living room, dining room and kitchen area. A turntable with plenty of records to choose from, a wildly amusing VHS collection, and a game closet are here for your entertainment.
The Chief's bedroom is equipped with a Queen size bed, and is partially subterranean which keeps it cool during the warm days , but makes it a comfortable hideaway for a couple during the chilly nights.
The Gold room is the coziest room in the house. Warm and inviting with a Full size bed, and a sizable closet for all your goods.
Both bedrooms have access to the custom designed downstairs bathroom with standup concrete shower.
While still under development, our outdoor area offers plenty of land to wander through, and space to BBQ at night. The fire pit will keep you warm while relaxing under a sky full of stars.
Guest access
Although seemingly remote and isolated, Diamond Sky Retreat is a mere 10 minutes away from the center of Joshua Tree where you can visit our favorite hangout, the Joshua Tree Saloon (be sure to try the Miner's Milk). Also nearby are a few other restaurants, thrift and antique stores, a handful of art galleries, and of course the entrance to the National Park.
Only a 20 minute car ride from our front door, the park is a wondrous site for all. Slightly larger than the state of Rhode Island, it's vast surreal landscape consists of two deserts, each an ecosystem whose characteristics are determined primarily by elevation: the high Mojave Desert, and the low Colorado Desert. Check the states website for open dates times and cost.
Other things to note
This is a quiet neighborhood in the Californian Desert. Be prepared for dry, hot conditions. Also, keep in mind that you will be around wildlife. Be respectful, quiet, and kind to the natural elements surrounding our home.
Our minimum stay is 2 nights.
Our maximum stay is 29 nights.
Our listed price is for 2 people. We charge an additional $25 per person, per night to help cover the expensive utilities in the desert.
Film shoots, Photo shoots, and glitter are prohibited. (Yes, glitter!)
We love your pets, but unfortunately, we've had too many pet accidents, so we are not allowing pets at this time.

The retreat sits on 2.5 acres in a lightly populated area a short walk from Noah Purifoy's outdoor museum. Two blocks to the east, the development ends and the desert's unearthly landscape stretches from there all the way to the dry lake bed.
