The Space

Very safe area, upscale family neighborhood - Riverdale is one of the best neighborhoods in New York City with a few amazing parks and it's a very easy commute into the heart of Manhattan. Please see more about our neighborhood by looking it up on Wikipedia.

10 minute walking distance to the #1 train at 238th street stop. BxM1 and BxM2 express buses that go to Manhattan stop right by my house.
The apartment is in a quiet area of Riverdale - 30 minutes from midtown Manhattan on the subway. Wi-fi internet is included, a street with no alternate side cleaning regulations always has available free parking.

You will share a fully-furnished 3-bedroom apartment on the 1st floor with a grad NYU student and a sommelier - both in their mid-twenties. Both are very friendly but *rarely* home as they have very busy lives. You will have access to a kitchen with a stove/oven, toaster, a microwave and a refrigerator. There are a few grocery stores nearby.

The bedroom has a full-size bed and a sofa-bed that unfolds into a full size bed if you have more than 1 or 2 people in your group. I do charge $19 per night per person for extra guests.

Coin operated laundry room in the basement - please ask me for laundry card to operate the machines if you need to use them.

There are a host of restaurants just down the block a minute away - Japanese, Thai, Indian, American, Mexican, Italian and other cuisines. A supermarket is a 4 minute walk from the apartment. One of the prettiest parks in New York City - Wave Hill - is short walk from my house. Van Cordtland park is 10 minutes away as well.

  • Hi!! Well, I loved that Michael waited forever for me to arrive! Transit was horrible, and I really appreciate him waiting for my arival.

The room was perfect size and shape, and had everything I needed real close by the apartment.

  • Michael was an excellent and helpful host. He made sure that I was able to find parking and find the apartment, and helped me find my way around. Michael's roommates were also friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious, and apartment was quiet at night. I will want to stay here again if I return to NYC.

  • Mike's place is exactly as it looks in the photos and was very easy to get to. We were only there for a night but the apartment was perfect for our needs and Mike was very accommodating and even drove us to the wedding we were attending. Would highly recommend!

  • Great location in New York City. Short trip to Manhattan. One of the rare neighborhoods where you can find free on-street parking.

  • We were pleased with the accommodations. However, the trip into downtown Manhatten was more than 30 minutes. The neighborhood is clean and quiet.

    Response from Michael:

Yeah, the trip to downtown Manhattan is over 30 minutes but the trip to midtown Manhattan shouldn't be much longer than 30 minutes.

  • A convenient place to stay, not far from the metro and a nice quiet area. The room was comfortable and Mike was very accommodating with us arriving late. Overall a good stay and felt very welcomed!

  • Michael was awesome! Although we never met in person he was great at communicating, the room was very clean and his roommates were very nice. Its a short walk to the subway and a really nice neighborhood. I would totally stay there again!

  • Michael's place was very nice in a quiet residential area in Riverdale in the Bronx. The unit is on the first floor so you don't have far to go from the lobby or walk up many steps. The guest bedroom is very nice. I was visiting people in the area but it is a good location for visiting NYC if you want to stay in a residential area, then take the bus to the subway to go anywhere in the city. Highly recommended for a New York visit.

  • Michael's place is exactly as seen in the picture. He was an amazing host and he met us on the first day, assisted us to get to his house- first time in the USA and we had no clue what to do so the help was much appreciated. Michael wasn't staying at the hose during our stay but he was easy to get in touch with if we needed any help and we practically had the place to ourselves. His house is located really close to a few shops and restaurants. The area was nice and quiet. Overall, it was a lovely stay and would love to stay there again.

About
I love hiking, camping, skiing and traveling. I try to travel and see the world as much as I can. A brief summary of my travels: I've been to Israel many times, lived in Hong Kong for 3 months, went SCUBA diving in the Red Sea in Eilat and in Jamaica, went horseback riding around the pyramids in Giza, Egypt, visited Petra in Jordan and sailed a yacht around Guatemala. I like both hosting and staying with other people. My apt is in a great neighborhood with some of the prettiest parks in NYC. Come and see!
