Floyd Gompf's cottage in Lakeside. A well equipped clean and comfortable cottage furnished with Floyd's famous furniture. Has a wood stove and really nice wrap around screen porch. There's plenty of parking. A short walk or ride to Lake Michigan Pier Ave. Beach. Warren Dunes is close by too. The house is bright and sunny and is surrounded by lots of mature trees and is located on a quaint and quiet dirt road.
Two bedrooms, one has a queensize bed the other has a double. One bath with a Jaccuzzi bathtub. A clean simple well equipped kitchen, brand new stove and refrigerator.
Farmers markets in Union Pier and Three Oaks on weekends. Greenbush Brewery in Sawyer.
The cottage is close to many quaint small towns. Three Oaks, approximately six miles from the cabin offers antique shopping, galleries, a distillery, movie theater and several restaurants.
Sawyer is home to Greenbush Brewery, and Soe, a restaurant which features home grown fare, a grocery store, a clothing store in a former fire station and Sawyer Garden Shop, featuring, fresh produce, a great wine selection and gourmet foods.
It warms my heart when guests wash and put away their dishes.
This is one of the most wonderful places to stay! We had such a relaxing time hanging out in the beautiful and creatively decorated cottage and long screened in porch. The train came around at night and it was so exciting and magical when it passed by in the wooded area. The tub has jets for a very luxurious bath and the master bedroom is super spacious and beautiful with French doors opening to the screened porch. There was a wood burning stove waiting to be lit when we got there and all ready with kindling and instructions. We brought our own food to prepare in the kitchen and we ate it happily at the kitchen table which had fresh daffodils and tea lights. There is a full dinning table on the porch with we would have eaten at if it was warmer out but we plan to return as often as we can so we will use it in the future. This is our new favorite recharge spot to stay. So perfect for getting away from "it all" and very inspiring with all of Floyd and Linda's artwork and hand crafted art furniture through out the spaces. So many wonderful little spots to sit and read or sleep, hard to decide which one I loved best. If you forget a book, don't worry, they have many great books all over the cottage to read. Definitely recommend and will return.
What a lovely, enchanting cottage! The photos were adorable but the place in person was even better. We ventured out a few times but wound up spending more time in the cottage than we had originally planned — it was just so cozy, making dinner, eating out on the wraparound porch, laying around in front of the wood stove. Our baby and little dog had a great time too. We can't wait to come here again. Thank you Linda and Floyd for sharing your wonderful cottage!
The cottage was perfect for a weekend away. It was clean, cozy, and so perfectly decorated! The outdoor space was our favorite. We will definitely be back!
This home was amazing, so cozy comfortable and charming. Linda responded to everything promptly and stayed on the phone with me when our GPS led us astray. Floyd was very kind and welcoming and gave us some tips about the area. I can't wait to go back when the weather warms a bit and use the great porch and outdoor space. My 4 and 7 year old loved all the art work and maps around the house. There were a lot of little touches that they put out that made us feel truly welcome.
Linda and Floyd were very welcoming - and the cottage couldn't have been cozier. We had a beautiful and relaxing stay, and so enjoyed all of Floyd's furniture and sculpture. We spent our days visiting excellent nearby distilleries and breweries but we always enjoyed returning to the homey cottage and sitting by the fireplace. Thanks so much, Linda and Floyd!
We felt completely welcome. The cottage was everything the listing said and more. So tidy, a fire built ready to be lit, every amenity you can thing of and Floyd and Linda are just the nicest people!
Great location, quiet, beautiful and exactly what you are looking for when you come to Michigan.
We just returned from the most relaxing weekend at Floyd's cottage. Floyd met us when we arrived and offered ideas about where to grab a coffee in town. The cottage was warm and bright and had everything we needed. Linda was really quick to respond to my questions while booking the cottage (our first experience with Airbnb) and made the entire process a piece of cake. We can't wait to return!
Thanks Linda and Floyd!
