  • We LOVED this place. Perfect location for getting around metro area by foot or car. Also close to freeway. The house has a wonderful vibe. Great decor and you can see that Harold has an appreciation for world culture and travel and cooking! We didn't get to cook unfortunately, but Harold has a very well-stocked kitchen that I would have loved to put to work. The bed is incredibly comfortable and the living area is very condusive to just hanging out with some wine or coffee and friends! Harold and his brother Jeff were very easy to make arrangements with. Very accommodating. And helped us with directions and places of interest. GREAT GREAT STAY!

  • My wife and I travel to Toronto every September for the Toronto International Film Festival and we're always looking (email hidden) to stay that's close - but not too close - to the center of the action. Harold's place was great for us. It's very comfortable and cozy yet quite expansive. Located steps from King Street but on a side street, it's quiet and calm despite being close to a ton of restaurants and nightclubs. And, for our purposes, the 15 minute walk to the Lightbox on King Street was superb! Plus, the proximity to Jimmy's coffee was much appreciated. There are a few quirks to the apartment (some strange placement of light switches, etc) but nothing significant and we would highly recommend this place for any couple visiting Toronto that wants or needs to stay close to the downtown core.

  • Wow. No hesitation about giving this property 5 stars. It doesn't have much of a garden - but there's a park around the corner. There is a barbecue, though we didn't actually get time to use it. But the location is really fantastic, central but on a quiet street. And the accommodation (on two floors, basement and ground floor) is truly fantastic and everything it says it is in the owner's description. Really good value, superbly equipped, very comfortable, and a real home from home. Our host (actually, the host's brother as the host was away) was living upstairs and was welcoming and generous but we were left to ourselves, in the knowledge that if we needed anything we just had to ask. Our 15 and 16 year olds loved it (they both slept in the sitting room, one on an inflatable mattress as there was a problem with the pull-out sofa bed but our host sorted that alternative immediately. Very secure, safe area with ready access to so much - downtown, Kensington Market only a stroll or bus ride away etc etc. Wonderful local shops, very close to main streetcar lines, and so much you can walk to from the door. Air conditioned, fantastically well equipped with quality kitchen equipment galore, TVs/DVD player, comfy seating - and a state of the art washer dryer. Overall plenty of space. Would be a dream for a couple (the mattress on the huge main bed is fantastically comfortable) , or maybe two couples (assuming the pull out sofa bed is sorted). With two older children you'd just need to think about the bedding arrangements - our son was very happy on the sofa, but actually it probably wouldn't have worked so well with both kids on the pull-out sofa bed so in the end the inflatable bed was a bonus. Despite open plan layout there was a sense of privacy - no main bedroom door, but the bedroom is at the back and well away from the living room so parents weren't disturbed by children watching TV in the living room, and it was great being on two floors with private access from the basement to outside as well. Overall, couldn't have asked for more and would love to go back. If you are considering this property as an alternative to a hotel then go for it, if you are fortunate enough to find it available. Can't imagine you would be disappointed. There weren't any review when we booked so we took the risk. So glad we did. Amazing time.

  • I cannot recommend Harold's place highly enough. Awesome apartment in a great area, and his brother Jeff with whom I was communicating was absolutely kind, helpful and accommodating. Would definitely repeat if I come back to Toronto.
