The history of this road goes to the constructions of the first building named Palazzo Pepi-Ferri at the beginning of the fifteenth century and was enlarged between 1441 and 1553. In 1653 this noble family enriched with the spice trade with East, gives the name to the narrow street and decided to leave in the center of Florence, and since than the descendants of Pepi still the owners of the building.

  • Alessandro was good at communicating with us. We never actually met him, but his brother Andrea was very nice and showed us everything in the place. Andrea doesn't really speak english, but I speak some Italian so that was no problem for me. The place itself was perfect for us, little kitchen with everything we needed to cook our dinners, small bathroom with warm shower. Everything worked great. There was even a big closet for us to put all of our clothes, and another cabinet with towels, bathroom essentials and even a hairdryer! The exposed wood beams on the ceiling above the bed were also very neat. The room itself is a little damp in the air, but it's on street level and Florence was very muggy the whole time we were there, so that's to be expected. (It didn't bother us at all). We didn't use the downstairs cavern/hang out space, just because there's no tv or Internet or anything so it's not really a space to hang out in unless you have friends with you! (It is cool though). The bed was also very comfy. The only issue we had was with noise, as you are on street level, in an alley way off of one of the more main streets, and the windows are old, so in the evening and the morning it is loud. For us this was not an issue, as we are heavy sleepers. It does quiet down around 11/12 at night, so if you stay up late it's not a problem anyway. Otherwise, just bring some ear plugs and you should be fine.

The location is great, maybe a 5 min walk to the duomo, if that. There is a Conad market right around the corner, which was a big plus for us. There are many little cafés, bars and shops right along the main streets, and nothing is a far walk. We didn't use public transportation once.

Overall, it's a little pricey, but we really liked the place and we would recommend staying there!

  • Good location. The place is very well equipped and conveniently located. Very quick reply to emails and text messages. Very open to provide advise. A little noisy on weekends due to people parting late.

Merci Alessandro !
