B&B in tuscany countryside “La Rocca” ."L" means LISA room
B&B in the heart of Tuscan countryside, placed in the outskirt of Florence at top of the hill of Carmignano in an extremely suggestive position closed to the ancient tower “Rocca di Carmignano” (XI sec.) as well as to the church S.Michele (famous for the painting “Visitazione” by Pontormo) , with a particular magnificent view on the valley of Florence – Prato e Pistoia. B&B La Rocca is located in a historical Tuscan villa dated XVI-XVI century recognized by the province administration of historical interest.
From B&B La Rocca you can easily reach the most beautiful cities of art in Tuscany : Florence (25 km) , Lucca (57 km), Pisa (67 km), Siena (80 km) and of course Prato (13 km) and Pistoia (18 km)., as well as some historic villages like for example Vinci (just 15 km) , Artimino (6 km), S. Gimignano (52 km)….
Even though the center of Carmignano is walking reachable in 5 minutes, the villa is surrounded by nature with its olive grove and orchard ; and people can experience a holiday in touch with nature (farmyard animals in the property). The area is safe, quiet , and relaxing, and at the same time closed to all amenities such as shops, bus stop: 200 mt (to Florence, Prato, Pistoia).
Many sport activities are offered in the vicinity: mountain bike (several funny traks of Montalbano easily reachable); cycling (famous tours starting from la Rocca direction Vinci/San Baronto or Florence /chianti hills or Pistoia/Abetone); outdoor pool with slide (5 km), tennis courts with the possibility of qualified lessons (1,5 km), The 18-hole Golf club Le Pavoniere (5 km), Fishing (2 km), Horse Riding (5 km).
The rooms are in rustic/romantic style and are cool even in the hottest period of summer; air conditioning is not necessary in this house !. Natural awakening by the cockcrow.

  • Isabella was a wonderful host and her home is a beautiful place!

Communicating with her was very easy and we were taken care of very well. If we ever go anywhere near Florence again, we will remember Isabella, her home's huge view of the valley, the nearby bell tower that we sat to read and draw at for hours, and her delicious homemade dinner!

    We had a great experience!

  • I get emotional when I think of my experience at Isabella's home. Isabella went out of her way to make sure I had a wonderful experience. She picked me up late from the airport and brought me on a bike ride to Vinci to see the birthplace of Leonardo De Vinci. The villa was magical and you must have Isabella cook for you! I adore Isabella and her wonderful family. I highly recommend booking a room if you want an authentic experience. I know I will be back to see my new friend. Hugs, Isabella to you and your family.

  • Isabella was a fantastic host and the B&B was absolutely amazing. It was unlike any Airbnb I have stayed in. Isabella is a fantastic cook and I strongly recommend having her dinner. Having a car is ideal for this B&B but in no way is it necessary. Isabella and her dad helped us get to/from Florence every day and we had no problems! I definitely recommend staying here and hope to return myself.

  • This Tuscan villa is just as described in the other review: a charming location at the very top of a hill above a small village, a unique experience. Isabella and her sons were very friendly and welcoming and I enjoyed speaking French with all of them. Isabella will go out of her way to make things easy for you (such as offering to drive you to the bus or train station, take the time to explain how to get around, and so on). Thank you so much for being so understanding and accommodating, I really appreciated it!

  • Isabella's villa is absolutely amazing and she is extremely accommodating and nice. We enjoyed a private homemade dinner in the tower and spent time in the nearby vineyard. The dinner was the highlight of our trip. The food was superb and you couldn't top the view.

  • We had a really great stay here. Isabella and her whole family are really warm, welcoming, and friendly people. The villa is a lovely place with great views over the countryside and surrounding cities. We didn't have a car so public transportation took a little bit of coordination but Isabella and her family were kind enough to give us rides to the bus stop. Our room was very comfortable and we didn't have any problems with the shared bathroom. We also really enjoyed meeting and spending time with other people staying at the villa. Make sure you eat dinner there at least once, it was delicious and a great experience!

  • My sister and I stayed at Isabella's only for one night between trips to and from Florence and Pisa.

We didn't have a car and this was a concern of mine while reading through the reviews. Isabella picked us up from the bus station, but we got off the wrong station (even though I had asked the bus driver for Poggio a caiano) and he "alerted us" so we got off. In hindsight, I shoud've requested more detailed directions from Isabella on where exactly to get off, what would we see, etc. We got off next to a newspaper stand with a park on our right and there was a tobacco shop on the left across the street from us where we were going to purchase a phone card to call Isabella from the pay phone next to the newspaper stand - we didn't have any phone or international data plan. The owners actually spoke English well and helped call her for us without a charge! The shop owner told Isabella we were next to the newspaper stand, but apparently there are a few newspaper stands/shops in Poggio a caiano. Isabella eventually found us after looping around and then we were good to go afterwards.

The villa is literally like what others reviewed - it was like a museum and had so much character and charm. It does look older than the pictures shown, but the beds were comfy and everything was great! Wifi only works in the living area, but that was fine. The villa is in the country side, so bug phobes beware. I've been getting eaten up by mosquitoes pretty much each day while in Italy.

For the night we were there, my sister and I decided to have Isabella's homemade dinner after reading everyone's reviews and we were so glad we did! My sister says she dreams of Isabella's saltimbocca ("jump in mouth") dish! There was only one older couple from Australia staying at the bnb and they had dinner with us. We also then went to Pisa and Cinque Terre together the next morning. That is definitely one of the great things about staying at a hostel or a bnb - meeting and getting to know people from all walks of life!

Isabella brought my sister and I up to the tower of her Ville to see the nighttime view of the surrounding cities. Absolutely gorgeous!

I would highly recommend Isabella's B & B La Rocca and say to stay for more than a night so you can have time to visit their "small town" and other areas in the Tuscan country side as well!

  • Excellent house with inconceivable view of Florence. Isabella is a nice host and thank you for giving us a dinner even if we arrived so late in the night!

  • Isabella was extremely helpful, caring and nice. She shows that she loves what she does and does it with pride. Staying at her B & B was a great experience that I will recommend anybody traveling solo or with company. I felt very comfortable and safe and she even had one of her kids take me to the train station for not extra charge. Breakfast was excelent as well. Thanks for your hospitality Isabella and I hope if I'm back in Florence, I can stay there again.
