For many years now, free Lunch Concerts in the Royal Concertgebouw (125 years in 2013) have been held every Wednesday afternoon at 12.30 p.m. in the Main Hall or the Recital Hall. The concerts vary from public rehearsals by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and concerts by conservatory ensembles, to chamber music performances by young up-and-coming artists. The programming is very broad, and offers something for everyone: listeners can enjoy a variety of early music and the classical genre, and also get acquainted with a more modern repertoire. The concert is announced one week in advance on the website. The concerts are 30 minutes long and are open to the public and free of charge. You do not need a ticket, but these concerts are very popular, so plan to arrive about a half hour before the concert to get a seat.

My husband and I arrived at Mieke's apartment a little bit earlier than anticipated and Mieke was so accommodating for our schedule. The apartment was in great condition, clean, well kept, great design, and absolutely adorable.
Upon arrival Mieke gave us the details about the neighborhood (team #10 is literally just steps away from the apartment) sights to see and how to get around. She also recommended a bike shop around the corner where we were able to rent bicycles for the whole weekend (roughly 8euros a day). Additionally, There were pamphlets, books, and maps that Mieke left behind for us to peruse--which was a huge help!
I highly recommend this place. The neighborhood is beautiful, the apartment is very comfortable, and Mieke's hospitality made the experience all that much better.
Super souvenir. Merci Mieke. SEE YOU SOON ... Dank U.
We enjoyed our stay here very much! The location is perfect, the apartment is very cosy, tidy and comfortable and Mieke was a great host. We can recommend this apartment to anybody who is looking to stay in A'dam! Will definitely come back when we need a place to stay.
My boyfriend and me stayed here one week. Mieke is a great host. The apartment is perfect and very located well. Mieke sent us all the necessary information to have a good holiday in Amsterdam
Thank you very much, we shall return with pleasure :)
Mieke is a great host for a great apartment. Clear and quick communication and lots of info on Amsterdam was provided in folders. Bike hire close by and tram stop to city centre just across the road from front door. Supermarket and other cafes and shops just 5 minutes walk. We enjoyed our stay here.
Mieke is a great host. She was eager to help us with everything we needed. And she even brought a box with toys for our child. All you need to know about Amsterdam is in the flat: booklets, maps, even discounts for excursions and other stufff.
The flat itself looked a bit worse, than we expected. The furniture is good and bed is even perfect. The old wooden floors look vintage and make the flat very charming. The two things we didn't like about the flat are shower with toilet (very uncomfortable) and poor light (too dark in the flat).
3 min on foot to the supermarket
30 min on foot to the downtown.
1 min on foot to the bus/tram stop.
5 min on foot to the Westerpark (great and picturesque place to have a walk)
Our stay at Mieke's in Westerpark was even better than expected. Although our taxi was late in picking us up to be taken to Mieke's, she was gracious in waiting for us and provided all the information we needed for our stay in her apartment and our visit to Amsterdam. The apartment was a good size for 4 adults, was very clean and had everything we required for a great time. The bathroom does not have a sink, but that for us was not a problem at all........the kitchen sink was fine.
Mieke had recommended a place to grocery shop and a good nearby restaurant.
We were really pleased with the proximity to public transit and the ease with which we could quickly get to the city centre.
We would definitely recommend Mieke's place and would automatically return to it if we are again in Amsterdam. Thank you Mieke!
I was stayng in Mieke's place for four nights and very thankful for her kind assistance and hospitality during my stay .
As a host, she is extremely responsive and attentive. you cannot expect a better guest always prompt to give some (good) tips ( western park/amsterdam restaurant /theater for instance ...) definitly dedicated to people...
Her place is conveniently located (within walking distance from tram station) and well furnished with good wifi lan . Highly Recommended!
