This is a roomy apartment with room to relax and unwind. It is a 1st floor apartment that sleeps up to four. Furnished to make you immediately feel at home. On a quiet street, but less than 2 blocks to a bustling main street.
*Please send me a message first (rather than a reservation request right off the bat) so we can get to know each other and make sure my place is a fit for you-thanks!*
This one bedroom, one bath apartment is a dedicated rental, on the first floor of a duplex (the upstairs apt. is also rented out via airbnb).
This property is a dedicated rental property with complete privacy and quiet so you can really settle in and enjoy your visit to Pittsburgh.
Apartment has its own private entrance with keyless entry code for additional security. The fully equipped eat-in kitchen has everything you need to prepare, cook, and serve a simple meal or snack.
The living room with a flat screen TV w/ DVD player and local channels. The sofa bed opens to a queen sized bed (modest additional fee applies).
The bedroom features a queen sized bed (linens included), a separate seating area, and lots of storage. Window a/c unit in bedroom (June-Labor Day), fan for the living room.

This property is not a fit for those who:
- usually stay in a hotel
- dislike being on your own (including checking yourself in and out of the property)
- feel uncomfortable in a working class, city neighborhood
- find technology (logging onto WiFi, using TV remotes, keyless entry systems) to be a challenge
Guests have access to the entire downstairs apartment. You have a private, secure entrance. There is a small, shared, secure hallway (w/ the upstairs apt) that leads to the basement, which houses the washer and dryer that both apartments share.
Interaction with Guests
As soon as you make a reservation with me, you'll receive an email w/ info about parking, directions (w/ shortcuts!), your keyless entry code, and lots of additional info about the property and neighborhood.
Then - I'm pretty much hands off. My philosophy is a bit different from many hosts and is simply this: you are coming to Pittsburgh for a purpose: to attend a conference, go to a class, attend a wedding, sightsee, catch up w/ old friends. You're not here to hear me jibber jabber on the phone to you every day--you're here to enjoy yourself.
However, with that said, I encourage all guests to call or email me if they have any questions, have a specific need, or if they require any assistance.
Are you looking for a walkable, authentic neighborhood close to everything? Welcome to Bloomfield, Pittsburgh's "Little Italy". The shops sell handmade ravioli and cannoli. The patrons chatter in Italian. It's a friendly, family-oriented, fun neighborhood. And you can be right in the middle of it.
The property is at the end of a quiet, safe residential street, yet less than two blocks to a bustling street featuring with shops, restaurants, and bars. Children's Hospital and West Penn Hospital are both 5 blocks away, and Shadyside Hospital is less than a mile away.
If you drive, you have access to one parking spot. If you have extra cars, I can tell you about nearby spots where you can park your other vehicles.
Property is less than 2 blocks from a main bus line to get you to downtown, the strip district, shadyside, oakland, and squirrel hill in minutes.
You can use public transit to get from the bus station/Megabus stop/AMTRAK to property in 15 minutes. You can use public transit from the airport to the property--for less than $5.
Other Things to Note
I love this neighborhood! I live in Bloomfield, too, and would be happy to help with restaurant recommendations, steer you to local attractions I think you'll like, all with an eye to places often overlooked by native Pittsburghers and tourists alike.
Please treat this property with respect; if something does become damaged or broken, please let me know. Check in is any time after 3:00 p.m. check out by 11:00 a.m. Self check in and check out with a keyless entry system.
Before you book, please make sure your check in and check out dates are firm, fixed, and not subject to change. No refunds given for early departures.
Sorry, furry friends have to stay home. This is a no-smoking facility. All guests must be 21 years of age or older.
It was nice to meet Julie when we arrived. She was very helpful with all our questions. The apt seems typical Pittsburgh and we enjoyed the Bloomfield neighborhood, especially the Bread and Salt Bakery and the late night burger at Tessoro's. Very convenient to Pitt! Parking no problem.
What a wonderful experience!
It was such a pleasure to be hosted by Julie. I had been looking for a place for my parents to stay for some time. I was having trouble finding a spot. Julie was so helpful and responsive, going out of her way to communicate and get us booked.
The accommodations were spotless and spacious, right in the heart of Bloomfield. My parents really appreciated staying in a comfortable home in a real Pittsburgh neighborhood, as opposed to a hotel somewhere downtown or out in the suburbs. Thank you so much for helping us have such a wonderful vacation!
The reservation was canceled 5 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Julie's place was great. It's just off of Liberty Ave in the Bloomfield neighborhood which is walking distance to many great restaurants and attractions and just a $10 cab to the heart of downtown! We stayed for a long weekend and were able to get to everywhere in the city within 10-15 minutes by car. The apartment is everything you need...spacious kitchen, cozy living room, large bedroom, and all the essentials. Julie was very prompt in sending us a renter's manual with everything we needed to know and quick to reply when we had questions. Highly recommend her place!
I stayed at this apartment while in Pittsburgh for a conference, after an extended international trip. It was great to arrive at this restful and spacious place after a long flight. Access worked by keycode, so I was able to get in easily after a late flight. Julie is very thorough, providing information and resources to get settled. Everything was fresh and clean.
I was in town for a workshop at CMU, which was a half hour walk or a short bus ride away. Since the bus stop was just a few blocks away, it was easy to hop on and head to more central locations.
I would definitely stay here again.
Home was very cozy overall. If you are looking for quality in mattress furniture etc. etc. this is not the place. I found the area to be very convenient and was very quite. Parking was a hassle if you arrived back to your room late in the day.
I am sorry Gilbert had a less than positive experience and I am surprised since we spoke on the phone after he checked out and he was interested in coming back for another night. The mattress is almost new, others have complimented it, and the listing has many photos so people can make an informed decision. I rarely say this, but I think a hotel would have been a better fit. I think he ended up at my place because it was a Steelers weekend.
Julie was very prompt and professional in handling my reservation. She was helpful in getting me bus info from airport. The apt was in a great old Italian neighborhood. Felt like old Pittsbugh. Accommodations were Basic..nothing fancy. Bed was comfy. Good place to sleep and centrally located. If looking for fancy this is not your kind of place.
