Description

The space

This one bedroom, one bath apartment is a dedicated rental, on the first floor of a duplex.

This apartment offers complete privacy and quiet so you can really settle in and enjoy your visit to Pittsburgh.

Apartment has its own private entrance with keyless entry code for additional security. The fully equipped eat-in kitchen has everything you need to prepare, cook, and serve a simple meal or snack. The living room with a flat screen TV w/ DVD player and local channels. There's also a DVD library. The bedroom features a queen sized bed (linens included), a separate seating area, and lots of storage.

Perfect for one or two people.

This property is not a fit for those who:
- usually stay in a hotel
- dislike being on your own (including checking yourself in and out of the property)
- feel uncomfortable in a working class, city neighborhood
- find technology (logging onto WiFi, using TV remotes, keyless entry systems) to be a challenge, even w/ detailed directions
- are especially sensitive to the heat in the summer. This property does not have central air conditioning.

Guest access

Guests have the entire first floor apartment. You have your own private, secure entrance. There is a small, shared, secure hallway (w/ the upstairs apt) that leads to the basement, which houses the washer and dryer both apartments share.

Interaction with guests

As soon as you make a reservation with me, you'll receive an email w/ info about parking, directions (w/ shortcuts!), your keyless entry code, and lots of additional info about the property and neighborhood.

Then - I'm pretty much hands off. However, please call or email me with any questions, have a specific need, or require any assistance. That's what I'm here for!

The neighborhood

Are you looking for a walkable, authentic neighborhood close to everything? Welcome to Bloomfield, Pittsburgh's "Little Italy". The shops sell handmade ravioli and cannoli. It's a friendly, family-oriented, fun neighborhood. And you can be right in the middle of it.

The property is at the end of a quiet, safe residential street, yet less than two blocks to a bustling street (also a major bus line) featuring shops, restaurants, and bars. Children's Hospital and West Penn Hospital are both 5 blocks away, and Shadyside Hospital is less than a mile away.

Getting around

Property is less than 2 blocks from a main bus line to get you to downtown, the strip district, shadyside, oakland, and squirrel hill in minutes.

You can use public transit to get from the bus station/Megabus stop/AMTRAK to property in 15 minutes. You can use public transit from the airport to the property--for less than $5.

Other things to note

I love this neighborhood! I live in Bloomfield, too, and would be happy to help with restaurant recommendations, steer you to local attractions I think you'll like, all with an eye to places often overlooked by native Pittsburghers and tourists alike.

This is a solid and comfortable spot, with easy access to Pittsburgh's downtown neighborhood. Julie is kind and welcoming and made sure to plan ahead and communicate expectations in order to make our check-in go smoothly. One thing to note if you or your fellow travellers are noisy or easily disturbed, the walls are very thin! It did not disturb us, however.

Julie was a wonderful host. She gave us a ton of helpful information that made it easy to plan our stay. The apartment was spacious, comfortable, and quiet and having a garage to park in was an added perk. We enjoyed walking around Bloomfield and exploring other areas of the city too. Our weekend in Pittsburgh was phenomenal, thanks in large part to our accommodations.

Julie was wonderful - very thorough in providing information about the unit, very prompt in responding to questions, and very helpful in offering herself as a resource to us during our Pittsburgh trip. The apartment was just as described, and the photos were accurate. The apartment is spacious and well-appointed, with lots of amenities you don't often find in AirBnBs - included free laundry in the basement, an actual full kitchen, a nice little desk, parking, etc. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat!

Julie s place is as described. We had a nice stay here. She also responds in time for all our questions and get our request attended. We moved to Pitts in early November from Southern California with a six months old baby. Her place is spacious and friendly for families with infant. It is also in walking distance of a lot of nice restaurants.

Greetings from Pittsburgh! It would be my pleasure to host your visit to this great little city. I've been here for many years and love it here. I'm here to help make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. My recommendations include many eateries and attractions off the beaten track that many locals don't know about! :)

Running my three properties is my full-time job and I devote my efforts accordingly to help ensure you have a pleasant and comfortable stay. I'm also honored to be the moderator for the Pittsburgh Airbnb Hosts group and selected to be on the steering committee working with local govt to regulate short-term rentals.

I love having people stay here and have welcomed people from all over the world. When I'm not acting as an Innkeeper, I dream about my favorite destination: Barbados!

Hope to see you soon!
