The house is quiet, calm and cozy, with easy street parking, wireless internet, shared kitchen and bath. Quick access to the beaches, Venice and Santa Monica - a great central location to visit Los Angeles.
It's easy to get up the coast to Santa Monica, the Venice Boardwalk, and Malibu, as well as into Hollywood and Beverly Hills - as well as lesser know gems like The Museum of Jurassic Technology! This is a house, so there is also outdoor areas to take advantage of the wonderful Southern California weather (though the garden needs some TLC)- the one in the back yard is perfect at sunset!
Easy access to LA and Santa Monica bus system, with connections to the LA Metro, walking distance to some restaurants, cafes and grocery stores. Also a short, non-freeway drives to UCLA, Santa Monica City College and Loyola Marymount University.
I lived for a long time overseas, and I enjoy sharing my home with intrepid travelers from everywhere and talking about experiences!
Check in time does need to be coordinated - I do everything I can to get you settled in, but I generally need at least 48 hours lead time to be sure that I can accommodate!
Everyone staying in my home does need to be booked in the room ahead of time. That includes *anyone* that will be spending any part of an evening.
Monthly rates require a 30 day booking
Yes, I hope you love the room, no I don't give discounts just because you do!
House is shared - please feel free to use the kitchen, dining room and most of the living area as well as outdoor areas.
I enjoy hosting friendly outgoing guests - and happy introverts - who are busy doing something while in LA - exploring, working, getting to know the area, and appreciate a home-like informal place while doing so!
The neighborhood itself is quiet and calm, very residential, all single family homes and out of the hubbub. Parking is *super* easy and ample with no restrictions - no chance of getting a parking ticket! I do have a bike that is sometimes available for guest with a deposit.
The major bus routes to Santa Monica and downtown attractions is just short 10 minute walk from the house.
I'm looking for friendly outgoing guests who are busy with something while they are in LA. My home definitely has character, so if you're looking for. It is one of the better deals in the area, and I am picky about who I want to share my home with. If you'd like to ask for a discount, please contact another host.

That's all so far!
Shelby is an incredibly warm bright hostess who provides a very spacious comfortable room with great light and large glass door. comfy mem foam mattress. Nice bathroom just outside br. The house has a great vibe and is in great neighborhood. Shelby is very generous and I much appreciated the time she took out to talk a bit. She was wonderful with Coco my dog who became very attached to Shelby. Thank You Again! I can't say enough good things about Shelby.
The room is spacious and comfortable. Shelby is welcoming and very accommodating. As a nice extra touch, she left a variety of shampoos and conditioners in the room. We unfortunately visited during a rare California cold snap, and the heating is very quirky. Most of the heat goes to the guest room, so Shelby graciously offered to let us control the thermostat. The first night we left the heat on and it is very noisy. The second night she suggested we turn it off, which we did, and we were fine. The bedding was sufficient to keep us warm through the night.
Shelby and I had good communication prior to my arrival and I enjoyed chatting about our travels during our brief conversation at night. The house is situated in a safe neighborhood close to the beach and to Santa Monica attractions.
Lovely room, quiet and clean, great location - I'm very pleased with my first ever airbnb experience!
Had a great experience at Shelby's. The room was clean and spacious and the house is in a very quiet and safe neighborhood. We brought our dog and it was the perfect neighborhood to take him on walks, even late at night. There was plenty of street parking.
As a host, Shelby was perfect. She was friendly and replied promptly to all my emails.
Would stay with again.
Shelby is absolutely friendly, uncomplicated and helpful. The neighbourhood is very nice and quiet. We had no car in LA and drove with the bus to Venice. But we think a car is very helpful. We had a great time in LA. Thank you Shelby!

I'm a Los Angeles native who lived overseas - mostly in Europe - for many years. Family brought me back to the states (the house was my grandparents), and circumstances keep in once place most of the time. So I get my travel fill by meeting all the lovely guests that come through my home, which has been a real pleasure!
I do work full time, though a mostly flexible schedule, which helps with hosting. I'm a photographer and glass artist, in addition to speaking fluent French I speak "menu" in several other languages, and can say "I don't know" in Danish ;-)
