2BR in East End Close to EVERYTHING

House - Entire home/apt · Taylor Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15224, United States

This is a huge apartment with room to relax and unwind. It is the upstairs apartment (second and third floors) with a walk-out deck with a panoramic view. On a quiet street, but less than 2 blocks to a bustling main street. Close to EVERYTHING.

The Space

Dwelling is a dedicated rental property, it is NOT someone's home they rent out on the weekends. Purchased in Spring, 2013 and completely renovated.

Apartment has its own private entrance with keyless entry code for additional security. The fully equipped eat-in kitchen has everything you need to prepare, cook, and serve a simple meal or snack.

The huge living room has a separate library area and seating for ten with a flat screen TV w/ DVD player and local channels. A third bed can be added to either the living room or office (flat fee of $20 applies, arranged prior to check-in).

Bedrooms have window a/c units.

The four piece bath comes with fresh towels, shampoo & conditioner, hair dryer, and shower gel. Each of the two bedrooms feature a queen sized bed (linens included) and lots of storage.

Free, full laundry facilities are downstairs, shared with the other unit in the duplex.

If you are new to airbnb, please send a message with some details about yourself and what brings you to Pittsburgh first before making a reservation request. This will help me become better acquainted w/ you so we can make sure this property is the best fit for you.

Guest Access

Guests have access to the entire upstairs apartment - two floors of living space: two bedrooms, an office, kitchen, bath, living room and outdoor deck. You have a private, secure entrance. There is an interior, rear staircase from the second floor down to the first floor, where there's a small, shared hallway (w/ the downstairs apt) that leads to the basement, which houses the washer and dryer. There is also a 200 square foot outdoor deck, accessible via a walk out from the living room.

Interaction with Guests

As soon as you make a reservation with me, you'll receive an email from me. This will contain information about parking, directions that can easily shave up to an hour from your trip (I know a trick that takes you nearly the entire way to the property by expressway, eliminating a lot of city driving!), and lots and lots of additional info about the property.

After you receive the email, I'll be happy to answer any questions you have by email or phone, or supply any additional information you may need.

I follow up with a phone call a few days before your check in date, making sure everything is OK and to make sure you're all set.

Then - I'm pretty much hands off. My philosophy is a bit different from many hosts and is simply this: you are coming to Pittsburgh for a purpose: to attend a conference, go to a class, attend a wedding, sightsee, catch up w/ old friends. You're not here to hear me jibber jabber on the phone to you every day--you're here to enjoy yourself.

HOWEVER, with that said, I encourage all guests to call or email me if they have any questions, have a specific need, or if they require any assistance.

The Neighborhood

Are you looking for a walkable, authentic neighborhood close to everything? Welcome to Bloomfield, Pittsburgh's "Little Italy". The shops sell handmade ravioli and cannoli. The patrons chatter in Italian. It's a friendly, family-oriented, fun neighborhood. And you can be right in the middle of it.

The property is at the end of a quiet, safe residential street, yet less than two blocks to a bustling street featuring with shops, restaurants, and bars. Children's Hospital and West Penn Hospital are both 5 blocks away, and Shadyside Hospital is less than a mile away.

Getting around

If you drive, you have access to two parking spots: one on-street, the other off-street. If you have extra cars, I can tell you about nearby spots where you can park your other vehicles.

Property is less than 2 blocks from a main bus line to get you to downtown, the strip district, shadyside, oakland, and squirrel hill in minutes.

You can use public transit to get from the bus station/Megabus stop/AMTRAK to property in 15 minutes. You can use public transit from the airport to the property--for less than $5.

Other Things to Note

I love this neighborhood! I live in Bloomfield, too, and would be happy to help with restaurant recommendations, steer you to local attractions I think you'll like, all with an eye to places often overlooked by native Pittsburghers and tourists alike.

  • My husband and I traveled from Cleveland with our two boys to Pittsburgh for a weekend getaway. We really enjoyed the location of this apartment and the fact that it was big. The kids had a lot of space to move around in while we were in the apartment taking a break from activities. All of the museums and restaurants we went to were within a 15-minute drive from the apartment and Julie was able to provide helpful communication prior to our arrival.

Then downfall of this place is that the apartment was not as clean as we would have expected. It is a rental property, so I realize it may not be of the same caliber as a hotel, but this aspect was disappointing.

  • Certainly no problem at all with our stay.

Apartment was as advertised and described and Julie was very organized and helpful.

Would have no concerns at all about a future stay at the unit or with Julie.

  • This is truly a "large" unit. There is an ample living area on the 3rd floor and the rooftop deck adds even more space. The deck gives you almost a 360° view of Bloomfield. The window air conditioners did a good job of cooling the bedrooms. Staying here you are just 2 blocks from Liberty Ave. lined with restaurants, coffee and shops. We found a, Lot 17, a pub/tavern, full of friendly regulars and great food. The keyless entry system is a great idea making check-in and check-out a breeze.

  • We took the family to Pittsburgh for the Memorial Day weekend and had a great time! The city was fantastic and Julie's rental was perfect for our family of four; spacious and comfortable with more than enough room and an awesome deck!

Julie was a perfect host and everything was set up perfectly for our stay. She offered a number of suggestions on what to do around town that were perfect for our family. There were ample linens, the shower was great and having a garage for our rental car provided a bit of extra security.

The neighborhood was a bit more cramped than what we're used to, but it wasn't noisy or bad in any way. It was nice having a street of shops within walking distance that we could enjoy.

Next time we come to Pittsburgh I would be happy to stay at Julie's place again. She is the type of host who makes Air BnB a real gem.

  • Julie was a great host and we loved our combination room w/private bath AND access to a kitchenette. While we knew breakfast was provided and robes available to us, we were not expecting to have clean towels every day and having our bed made each day. The Palace Garden Room and Julie exceeded our expectations. The address was convenient to accessing the bus system.

  • Julie was a gracious, accommodating, professional host. The house is beautiful, and perfectly located for the best of Pittsburgh site-seeing. The room, bathroom and shared spaces were clean, bright, and well-supplied. Our stay was perfect, and we would highly recommend Julie as a host.

  • I had a wonderful first Airbnb experience and I have Julie to thank for you that! Julie was so incredibly friendly and helpful. When I arrived everything was clean and neat and ready for a guest.

Julie runs her home very much like a bed and breakfast, my room was cleaned daily and I had access to a kitchenette that was stocked with items for a continental breakfast.

Julie was also very easy to communicate with. She was prompt to email me when I made my reservation and when I arrived she had written me a welcome letter letting me know important information. I would not hesitate to book with Julie again next time I am in Pittsburgh.

    March 2013
  • Julie's place was perfect for our needs--close proximity to the Children's Hospital and the entertainment of Lawrenceville on Butler Street--and the price was right. The Palace Garden Room has a comfy bed and the kitchenette was convenient for a breakfast in pajamas. Julie was great about offering suggestions of things to do and places to go too!

    January 2013
  • Julie is an excellent host. She provided us with a nice large space and some food, answered all our questions about transportation and places to see, and even gave us a few free-admission tickets to museums. Perfect!

About
Greetings from Pittsburgh! I'm an extensive traveler myself and have lived in other parts of the country, but keep coming back to my adopted hometown of Pittsburgh. I just love it here! Running my three properties is my full-time job (although I do as much volunteering in the community as I can) and I devote my efforts accordingly to help ensure you have a pleasant and comfortable stay. Think of me as your personal concierge, and use my knowledge of the city for suggestions for sightseeing, dining, and enjoying all that Pittsburgh has to offer. I've even helped people find houses to buy and apartments to rent! I love having people stay here and have welcomed people from all over the world. When I'm not acting as an Innkeeper, I dream about my favorite destination: Barbados! Hope to see you soon!
