This property is not a fit for those who:
- usually stay in a hotel
- dislike being on their own (including checking yourself in and out of the property)
- feel uncomfortable in a working class, city neighborhood
- find technology (logging onto WiFi, using TV remotes, keyless entry systems) to be a challenge
Guests get an entry code for the exterior door, so multiple arrival times are not a problem. You have a private, secure entrance. Full use of the apartment and a large outdoor deck, accessible via a walk out from the living room.
Interaction with Guests
Guests receive an email with information about parking, directions that can easily shave up to an hour from your trip, and lots of additional info about the property and neighborhood.
I'm pretty much hands off once you arrive. My philosophy is a bit different from many hosts and is this: you are coming to Pittsburgh to attend a conference, go to a class, attend a wedding, sightsee, catch up w/ old friends. You're not here to hear me jibber jabber on the phone to you every day--you're here to enjoy yourself.
However, with that said, I encourage all guests to call or email me if they have any questions, have a specific need, or if they require any assistance.
Please look at my guidebook for just a sampling of all the shops and restaurants just a few blocks from the property. The shops sell handmade ravioli and cannoli and customers chatter in Italian. It is, after all, our "Little Italy": a friendly, family-oriented neighborhood.
The property is at the end of a quiet, safe residential street, yet less than two blocks to a bustling street featuring with shops, restaurants, and bars. In a working class, urban neighborhood.
Cool off at the community pool, just two blocks away!
If you drive, you have access to one parking spot. Depending on the needs of the other apartment, I may have a second spot available. If you have extra cars, there are nearby spots where you can park your other vehicles.
Property is less than 2 blocks from a main bus line to get you to downtown, the strip district, shadyside, oakland, and squirrel hill in minutes.
You can use public transit to get from the bus station/Megabus stop/AMTRAK to property in 15 minutes. You can use public transit from the airport to the property--for less than $5.
Other Things to Note
I would be happy to help with restaurant recommendations, steer you to local attractions I think you'll like, places often overlooked by native Pittsburghers and tourists alike.

Easy and painless. Julie was right on top of things from the moment we inquired about her place. We received all information well in advance which made our arrival and departure process a walk-in-the-park. The place was clean and comfortable, and has a great roof deck! We didn't meet Julie in person but would highly recommend staying at one of her properties!
when all the hotels downtown were booked, we turned to airbnb to find lodging as close to the downtown area as possible -- Julie's duplex is a short uber ride from town and the 2 bedroom layout worked well for me and my coworker. the apartment is very spacious and the neighborhood has some historic charm to it. very quiet. wifi works great, enjoyed making coffee in the morning.

Our annual trip to Pittsburgh was a little rainier than usual, luckily we had this great space to hangout. Top floor deck and living room are awesome. Apartment as a whole is very comfortable. Julie is an ideal host. Everything was as I expected it to be.
Julie was an INCREDIBLE host! She started communicating with me immediately after booking, she was in touch about how to get to the house, what was included, when check in/out time, how to get in the house, etc. She has clearly done this before and is great at it!
Additionally, this picture does not do this roof deck justice! How AMAZING it was. Luckily we had nice weather, and spent a whole day just enjoying the sun on the deck!
This is a REALLY cute house in a really cute neighborhood. It will very comfortably hold 5 people, and you could probably squeeze an extra two in there if they don't mind the couch (and if Julie doesn't mind!). There is a large kitchen and kitchen table that is perfect for family style dinners!
Julie also has adorably collected nearly every movie filmed in Pittsburgh and has them at the house for you to watch. This way you can get better acquainted with the city!
The house is in a GREAT location. Bloomfield is an adorable neighborhood and you can walk easily to restaurants, a grocery store, and a beer distributor. It is also about a 5 minute or less cab ride to any other part of the city. Truely amazing. I will definitely be back!

I love having people stay here and have welcomed people from all over the world. When I'm not acting as an Innkeeper, I dream about my favorite destination: Barbados!
Hope to see you soon!
