Great location, there is a Chinese restaurants right under the apartment.
Gary is very nice and helpful! We had a great time stay in his apartment in SF, it's good location and very clean in the room.
Great host! Will always recommend him, place was clean and location is good!
Great place! Clean and well (email hidden) night there are a lot of bums on the streets near bye but are harmless. Gary is helpful and nice!
About as sketchy as it gets. Homeless are better off. If I could give a negative star on this recommendation, I would!
No where safe to park so I parked in the mall parking garage at 5th & Mission (3 blocks away). The heating system was using an old towel to try and direct air to the other side of the apt. which was the only vent in the place. The other "room" had to fend for itself with a little plug in floor heater. The place was nothing but old mismatched furniture with stains and holes in everything. Absolutely disgusting in every regard!
You either enter through a sleazy Chinese restaurant serving vagrants off of the street or the back alley on Stevenson. I had to enter in this way as the restaurant (email hidden) (because they are smart) so walking down the dark alley at 2 am was not fun. I also left through the alley entrance in the morning only to find a car window bashed in, someone shooting up (yes at 9am) and bum after bum. The most unsafe I have felt in a long while.
I can't emphasize enough how bad these accommodations are. There needs to be a limit of filth that's not allowed to partner with Airbnb and this would definitely be one of them.
I wouldn't wish this place on my worse enemy. If I hadn't already prepaid I wouldn't have stayed there at all. Women should never stay there unless they don't value their life or their body or both.
If you have to book here bring a weapon you are comfortable with and a strong stomach. You have been warned!
This an unusual apartment and you should read the reviews carefully before you sign up. For us, it was just what we wanted and what we expected. Great location, lots of room, close to public transportation. However, as some reviewers have said, it is in a neighborhood in transition. The entry does not look like Park Avenue but we never felt unsafe.
The apartment was clean and I especially liked the new hardwood floors in the bedrooms. The host is in the process of updating the apartment so some places are not quite done, i.e., under the stairs.
So look carefully, but if you want a great apartment in a great, big city location, this is the place for you.
Gary was most helpful when we had a problem with the WiFi.
Gary is a good host. He live in the same building. Very spacious apartment. It has a loft feel to it and It has the basics that you need when traveling. Bulding security is not a problem. The only drawback is the location. It's really sketchy to walk around from dusk til dawn. If you're traveling via a car, parking would be a challenge too and if you end up finding a spot at night, be sure to dress up to blend in with the surrounding when walking on the way back to the apartment. Walking around the block of the apartment during daytime is a better experience than night time. Other than what I mentioned above, its walking distance to Union Square, and Bart station.
The house was just what we needed for a home base in San Francisco. The bathroom situation was perfect for a group of us...everything was separate, so no waiting to use the restroom for someone to finish their shower. There are lots of places to go walking distance from the house. Gary was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the city.
Gary was very helpful and really accommodating to all of my requests. The apartment was according to the description. Just heads up about the area, parking is really difficult to find, I would suggest finding a paid public garage to make sure your vehicle is safe.
We had a good stay there. Gary was very helpful. The apartment was clean and the beds were comfortable. The heater was strong, which was good for the winter, but it made the apartment very dry. Maybe a humidifier could help?
