  • Our stay at Michael and Tara's was amazing. The apartment is well located near the Santa Monica beach and Venice beach. And they have a good taste of art in their apartment. Both of them are very easy going and environmental friendly person, they have a garden where they grow tomatos and lemons. We got detailed traveller's guide in our room, which is very helpful for my first visit to L.A, and the rules are clearly. Michael also suggested good bars to watch the world cups and other activities. They had a movie night at their backyard with projectors and big screen and we were invited. It was wonderful experience!!! And there is also one cute bird family building their nest in their backyard, lovely!!

Thank you so much for letting us stay.
    Best,

    Weiwei&Anthony.

  • Cute home, very well located and Tara & Michael were very welcoming. We used the bikes to cycle to the beach (15mins) passing by Marina Del Rey and then walked trough Venice Canals: great day!
Michael gave us his good visiting tips and Tara took care of us very well! Great place to stay! We would have stayed longer if we could.

  • Tara and Michael's place was my first experience with Airbnb. I was glad that they were the first because their house was more than I expected. The place looks exactly as the pictures show and I really liked that their set up was so well organized.

Off the top of my head, my first impression was how trusting they are with Airbnb guests! They left me easy instructions on how to arrive by car (or transit if we had chosen that option) and how to get into the house even when they weren't home. The space was very clean and the neighbourhood is very safe and quiet with lots of parking options. They are about 5-7 mins from LAX and 25 min bike ride to Venice Beach. It was very easy to get around LA from their place.

The first day we arrived, we walked around and found the Venice Japanese Culture Centre close by (don't remember exactly where) that was having a summer festival party so we got to try some local Japanese foods. We met with Michael later in the evening and we had a chat about the World Cup. I cheer for Germany too so he was happy to hear that. We didn't chat long because he had to get up early to work but gave us a good run down of things to do and how to access the bicycles and gave us directions for a bike tour to Venice Beach. It was super easy and a lot of fun!

We didn't get to see Michael or Tara much for the next few days but they were very quiet and answered all our questions via email/Airbnb messenger really quickly. I was very impressed with their promptness.

The best part of the whole experience was it felt exactly like living in my own house (because it was organized much like mine but bigger and warmer) so I didn't have to think too much about how to do anything there.

Anyway, if you have a chance to meet Tara and Michael or just to have a stay with them, I'm sure you'll be happy. I don't think I can do hotels anymore now that I've discovered the ease of booking through Airbnb and the positive experience I had staying here.

  • What a delightful time we had staying with Tara and Michael. They have a lovely home, and our room and bathroom were very comfortable. They encouraged us to make good use of the spaces in their house and were very generous with the use of their kitchen. We ate meals in their dining room, kitchen and on the back covered deck. The gardens are beautiful and we had hummingbirds hover right over our heads while enjoying breakfast. I love how eco conscious they are including composting and recycling. We borrowed their bikes for a delightful ride on the nearby bike trail down to the beach! The neighborhood is cozy, has ample and safe off street parking, and it was easy to access other parts of LA from their home. Michael provided loads of information about all kinds of LA activities. Each time we talked he would think of another possibility for us and would e-mail me details. Michael also responded to every e-mail I sent within moments. Tara and Michael invited us to join them in the backyard on the Solstice to watch a movie and enjoy an outdoor fire. Such wonderful people - I would definitely stay with them another time.

  • We had a great stay at Michael and Taras place! The house and the neighbourhood was nice and in a great location near Venice beach. We had a car and it was no trouble to find parking spaces. We were really happy that we had the chance to use their bikes and it was really nice going cycling in the beach area!
It was also nice that we could use their kitchen for cooking and there were good market near their house.

Michael and Tara were really nice and welcoming and Michael gave us really good tips about places to visit. We felt ourselves at home in their place!

I can warmly recommend Michael and Taras home to everybody!

  • Our stay was really great: spacious room, quiet neigbourhood, a private bathroom, a veranda to chill after a long day exploring the city and the beaches. Being able to use the kitchen was great for breakfast - and you could brew a good morning coffee with Michaels German coffee machine :).

  • Tara was awesome, we enjoyed our stay in her and Michael's house. The house was comfy and clean and they sure have a beautiful garden! Great neighborhood, and not far away from Santa Monica downtown shopping plaza and the beach.Really great experience! Thank you!

  • Staying with Tara and Michael was great! The house is located in a nice neighborhood with lot's of parking space. When visiting LA, a car is necessary, but we also made great use of the provided bicycles. We used them while visiting Santa Monica and Venice. Michael provided us a great route! So if you visit, leave your car at the house for one day and use the bicycles!

The bedroom is very comfortable and has a good vibe. It doesn't feel like a hotel room, even better. It feels like your the guests of Michael and Tara :-) The private bathroom is also great, and has got everything you need. We also made use of the kitchen, in which we prepared our own breakfast every day. Coffee machine (and coffee), and tea is provided. The garden was a great location to have breakfast. The gardens (in front and behind the house) are in good shape, nice flowers, and kitchen garden.

The neighborhood also provides supermarkets, and restaurants. We visited the Del Rey Kitchen twice, just around the corner!

We stayed over one month in the USA, and LA was our final destination. We stayed at lot's of Airbnb locations, this was a treat! Very nice hosts, they were helpful and we got some great advice about the city!

  • This was our first Airbnb stay and we were very pleased. Michael and Tara are lovely hosts and we felt very comfortable in their lovely home. They gave useful information, particularly regarding places to eat (Del Ray Kitchen is very good and great value), and couldn't have been more helpful. Would definitely recommend their place.

About
Hi, we look forward welcoming you to our home! We travel frequently internationally, backpacking-style or for business, we use AirBnB most of the times, when we don't have a personal contact in the destination. Michael is a meeting planner, moved to LA in the mid 90's, I am from Stuttgart. Tara, moved about the same time from Toronto/Milton, she works as a nurse. We enjoy to cook with our own veggies, that grow in our front yard. LA has soooo much to offer and we take advantage, be it Theater, all kinds of Concerts, cultural and ethnic events, hiking or biking at along the Pacific Ocean (just minutes away from our house, by bike). Hey and Michael used to (email hidden) for many years, here in L.A., and all of the Southwest (CA, UT, AZ, NV).
