About this listing
The studio is a self-contained space of 25 sq. mts. that includes a complete kitchen, shower bathroom and a sleeping area with a double bed. It also has cable TV, two fans and WIFI connection. The studio has a cozy atmosphere with harmonious decor.
The decor is a nice mixture of Mexican and Mediterranean style and it fits two people at the most. It is located in the heart of Puerto Vallarta, with an comfortable old house feeling that evokes the atmosphere of old town Vallarta, close to the main attractions such as the Río Cuale Island, the Malecón and the various town beaches. Right on the emblematic street Aquiles Serdán, embracing the Cuale river and its exotic island that keeps intact various animal species such as the famous 'iguanas'. The street is fairly quiet, with barely no traffic, but holds the lively aspects of Mexican culture such as children playing and the surrounding sounds of nature. Two blocks away, the local market offers fresh and great quality vegetables, fruits, etc. with excellent prices and often locally grown. There is easy access to buses and taxi cabs that can take you north and south of town. If you are looking for a comfortable place that doesn't lose touch with the local culture this is your best choice.
You will have access to a cable TV, WIFI connection and a cooler, as well as heated water. The studio is completely private and has its own door with a key.
Interaction with Guests
I play it by ear. Some people are more chatty and like to engage in conversations, others like to mostly keep to themselves. I try to be sensitive to their needs and communication style and adapt to it. The main point is that they feel comfortable to express what they need to make their stay the best possible. I am always present when they arrive, to greet the guests and explain everything they need to know.
I love that it maintains the traditional aspects of Mexican life in a typical village. The fact that it runs parallel to the river improves its charm, giving it fresh air and a closer contact with nature, along with trees and plants from different species. During the day you can hear the street vendors offering locally grown products, children playing, birds singing and the changing aspects of daily life at a peaceful and harmonious pace. It is a must to taste the food at some of the best taco stands in town.
There are bus stops from one to four blocks away (small blocks) going in all directions, including of course the airport and the main bus station, as well as all the beaches and touristy area. Parking is not included, not even I have a parking space, sorry. The cheapest way to get there from the airport is to catch a bus at the airport to 'centro' and from downtown take a taxi that costs 40 Pesos. You can also take a taxi directly from the airport that approximately costs 250 Pesos.
Other Things to Note
Please note there is not air conditioning, just a cooler. This is not a problem over the winter, when even the fan and cooler are often not needed. The months when people might complain about the heat are May, June, July, August, September and October. Although most of the locals don't use AC during those months, people from other countries might find the humidity difficult to bear. Also, please note that the minimum rent is two nights.
I don't allow people to smoke for security reasons. Also, I expect people to be respectful in every sense, specially in terms of the noise made during the night. In general I would expect the basic aspects of mutual neighbor respect. I allow pets sometimes, as long as they behave and with the responsibility to fix whatever is damaged, is so.
Our stay with Ana was fantastic. The neighborhood is charming and vibrant. Ana provided great recommendations for food and sites in the area. She was responsive and the apartment was clean and very comfortable. She had an air cooler in the apartment which was more than sufficient to keep the place nice and cool. We were in Vallarta during the hottest time of the year and slept great with just that fan. Would highly recommend this stay!
Ana was very helpful and her place is very quaint with everything you'd need. The only negative was that the A/C did not work well enough for my wife to get a good night's sleep.
Thanks for your review, I am glad you enjoyed the studio. I am sorry about the fact that your wife couldn't sleep because of the heat. The studio has no air conditioning, only ventilation and that should be explained in the information about the studio. I will check that out again to make sure people do not have unrealistic expectations. Sorry about that! best wishes.
We had a fantastic time in Puerto Vallarta and in the cozy studio. Ana was a perfect host and very helpful with suggestions in the greater PV community.
The neighborhood is perfect and a very easy walk to the beach. Don't miss Marisma Fish Taco just around the corner!
Ana was very sweet, warm and inviting. The space was perfect, simple yet beautiful and clean. Loved the neighborhood. Only heads up if you stay on the first night of Samana Santa you might be listening to wild live music and kids screaming into the wee hours of the night! But all in all I loved my stay there, would stay again and am grateful for Ana's generosity & kindness!
Ana is kind, considerate and a lovely person. Her studio is clean, location is great and has everything you need. I definitely recommend staying here when in Puerto Vallarta.
I spent the month of February with Ana in the hideaway studio. She is a great host making certain I knew where everything was in the neighborhood and making recommendations for whatever I needed. Also, she provided items for a first breakfast just in case I arrived and didn't have time to forage for food. She thought and acted before I could ask for things such as a second set of sheets since I was going to be there for a longer period. The neighborhood is a real neighborhood, not a tourist destination What that means is that here, people still sit out on the sidewalk talking with each other, the children play in the street under the street lamps at night, and it appears to be a long-term resident neighborhood rather than filled with hotels and transient people. It is a quiet street since it is not on one of the many bus routes that pass through the city. Restaurants are close by, laundry is about a blok away, and the general market is about one block away so finding food and activities is easy. The description is accurate and the studio works perfectly for one person and is good for two. It is an easy walk to the beach and the bed is comfortable
Thanks so much Barry! it was a real pleasure you meet you too and I am very happy to have left such a good impresion. I love that you loved my neighborhood since I enjoy it everyday and know the quality of life and people that surrounds me. That makes you a sensitive and appreciative person. Best wishes to you and you are welcome to come back when you wish, best wishes to you.
Ana was lovely and very helpful. The units description and photos are accurate. The neighborhood is quiet and safe and off the bus line. The unit is functional.
About the Host, Ana
I am originally from the Basque region in Spain and have lived in Mexico for 21 + years and in Puerto Vallarta for the last 12, I fell in love with the town after spending several vacations here and the longer I live here the more I like it. I enjoy the nature, the atmosphere, the people and the relaxed way of lilfe. I am a retired academic and worked at the local university for the past 12 years teaching sociology to psychology students, so i am aware of the social issues that affect the town and Mexico as a whole. These days I do astrological charts and write poetry, having published my first poetry book last year. I spend a lot of my free time at different beaches and by the river, so I can recommend good unspoiled areas to enjoy. I like to meet new people and love to make my guests feel welcome, so I hope that if you decide to stay at my studio you have a wonderful time and an experience that you can remember and share with others!
