Last minute? 1-2 nights? Please inquire!! This is an older home with one apartment on the first floor and a vacant apartment upstairs. Guests have the entire property to themselves. Free off-street parking. There is a small park across the street and a larger city park one block away w/carousel, pool, tennis courts, ice rink (all seasonal), amazing playground and walking paths. Three hospitals are within a 10 min drive. Close to BU. A variety of restaurants, bars, shops, antiques in the area.

The space
This apartment is in a quiet neighborhood where people relax on their front porches and listen to church bells and train whistles and music in the park on Sundays in the summer. Yet within a very short walking distance are restaurants, grocery and department stores, the bus line, a bowling alley and several antique shops. There is plenty of room to relax and read a book or take a nap on the comfy couch in the Living Room or watch TV in the TV Room or work from home in the secluded Office. Perfect for long term stays or short stopovers!

Guest access
Guests will have the entire property to themselves as there are no plans to rent out the upstairs apartment. There is a large wraparound front porch and a decent sized back deck. The back yard is completely fenced in. There is a two-car garage on the property that is not accessible to guests. Guests may park in front of the garage or in the driveway or on the street. Guests parking in the back are advised of overhanging trees which may drop various items such as loose branches, tree sap, bird poop, etc. Ride-shares are abundant in this area as well as all of the various delivery app services.

Other things to note
3rd BEDROOM: The third bedroom is actually the office with a futon set up as a bed. The futon is normally stored in a closet. The office will be set up as a third bedroom when the number of guests is 6. For less than 6 guests, it will only be set up after discussion with the host.

OFFICE: If booking for 6 guests, be aware that the office will be converted to a third bedroom and the desk will not be accessible for office work.

PETS: Although the owner of the property and the host are both pet lovers, there is a no pets policy and there will be NO exceptions granted.

CAROUSEL: The carousel runs from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend and during the week of Christmas.

HEATING: The house and furnace are both old and inefficient. In the winter, the thermostat is pre-programmed to run on a schedule between 62F and 68F with a max temp of 70F. If requested, the schedule can be adjusted to fit the guests needs. Please bring a sweater if you are used to warmer temps. There are also plenty of extra blankets.

COOLING: The house does not have central air conditioning, however in the summer, each bedroom has an air conditioner unit in a window and there are fans available for the other rooms. The bedroom air conditioners are not intended to and not big enough to cool the entire house so on extremely hot days, the inside might get very warm.

Neighborhood highlights

Broome County is known as the Carousel Capital of the World, as it houses six of the remaining 170 antique carousels in the U.S. and Canada. The crown jewel is at Recreation Park, which is just steps away from this apartment and was the inspiration for one of Rod Serling’sTwilight Zone episodes. The carousels open up on Memorial Day weekend and run through Labor Day weekend and are FREE! Recreation Park also contains tennis courts, a large beautiful playground, walking paths, pools and a music pavilion where festivals are held in the summer. The neighborhood is unique in that it is 12 homes built around a small triangular park. The neighborhood is surprisingly quiet while being just two blocks from Main St which is lined for miles with a very good variety of restaurants and shops.
