A quick drive (or bus ride) away from downtown Northampton, this open floor plan studio includes a living room area with large gas fireplace, a sleeping area with a double bed and dressers, a sweet little studio kitchen, a study area, an infrequently shared bathroom with a shower, laundry facilities, and a fenced in yard available for pups. Off Street Parking. Near Bus Route and two blocks from Florence Center, Cooper's grocery and Miss Flo's Diner (no longer open for supper, alas).
The back of the house looks out over a huge field, and Northampton's new Community Garden is springing up down the road. There's wi-fi, but no TV. Peepers in the spring and a resident owl in the tree. 2 dogs, who are quite friendly and welcome visitors on one, two, three or four legs.
The entrance is a little funky, through the garage--that way you won't have to deal with the 90 pound retriever wanting to kiss you, and can be independent of the house.
They are some cooking tools in the kitchen, and place settings for four, and we can find what you need in the main house.
The main house ,of which this is a part, was built in 1830 and so has the creaks and groans and whatever comes with age. I love it, but you may not!
Some guests have been surprised that the studio is on the first floor, with windows looking out front and back: people walking by, me mowing the lawn, dogs running and romping in the yard.
Tilli's place has a great fireplace and is very cozy! Our plans changed at the last second and Tilli was very accomodting. Be aware that it is one ( large) space and there is not a seperate bedroom and you share a bath, so privacy is limited. Her dogs are sweethearts!
Tilli was an excellent host. She was very considerate and fully stocked the kitchen with snack and breakfast items before we arrived. We also were able to bring our dog, which was a big plus. There is a fenced in play area for dogs that we would have taken advantage of, if the weather was better during our stay. The apartment is also in a great location, within walking distance of a bike/pedestrian trail leading to Look Memorial Park, and it's a quick drive to downtown Northampton. The space itself is very pleasant. It's private. has everything you need (cooking supplies, ample empty dresser drawers, tables and chairs, lots of lighting options, books to read, etc. ) and the gas fireplace was a wonderful place to sit and relax during our stay.
I loved this place! It is in a quiet neighborhood. Yes, the baseboard heating makes some popping sounds that a very sound-sensitive sleeper might find disturbing. I acclimated within one night! The place is PERFECTLY sized for a couple or one person. I LOVED the gas fireplace. Having a kitchen with lots of yummy treats from Tilli made the first breakfast easy-peasy! I used the PTVA most of the week that I stayed and found it easy to get to and from Smith College. What a great find! This is a great place for people who like a place that is comfy and homey. If you are looking for a sleek, modern, sterile place, don't come here...but if you want a comfortable, clean, homey apartment... I will return for sure.
This is a lovely, comfortable little place - and worked perfectly for our 3-week visit to the area. Nice good dogs, too!
The reservation was canceled 37 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Tilli's apartment has some great features, privacy, fireplace, and Tilli provides some great breakfast supplies. The bathroom is shared but I never saw anyone using it, and I had access to it the entire time I was there. The friendly dogs are a nice bonus if you are a dog lover but aren't able to travel with your pet, but they won't bother you if you aren't interested in them. Located in a quiet neighborhood, with places to walk and a few places to eat within walking distance. I wasn't there much, so it wasn't a huge deal for me, but the wifi signal wasn't consistent, my iPad could only get it intermittently.
This apartment was perfect for our trip! It was clean and spacious, with a functional layout. We had everything we needed, and it didn't feel like we were sharing a bathroom. Tilli was a great host. She responded quickly to emails and is organized and thoughtful. I loved the location...easy to get to Northampton or take daytrips to surrounding towns. We would definitely come back!
The studio was dirty--the kitchen and bathroom, in particular. It hadn't been mopped or vacuumed for at least a couple months. And neither of us are clean freaks. The refrigerator shelves had spills on them and most of the food left in it had expired a week or more before we arrived The room also had a very strong musty smell. Aside from that, the room was spacious, comfortable and quiet. Internet service was excellent.
The studio was vacuumed and mopped after every visitor. including you. There were no spills in the rfrigerator. The musty smell was due to a month of hot muggy weather. the only food that might have expired was the milk, for which I aplogize. As I said in my note to you, thie was NOT a hotel. If you had mentioned these concerns while you were here, instead of waiting until 2 weeks after you left, I would have addressed them then.
The visit to Tilli's Place was perfect as good as I wished for. The apartment is well distributed and comfortable. The location is ideal. Close enough to go downtown or to Smith college. I am planning to go schedule again in the near future.
This is a great little place. Just the right distance from town, with a bus stop 3 blocks away. A quiet neighborhood, and a well-stocked kitchen mean that you can settle in for a day or a month, whatever your needs may be.
A wonderful refuge to recover from your stressful world for a short time. All the comforts of home without having to drag them with you.
I didn't want to leave........
