Riad hidden was a perfect place to relax. It was very pretty and calm, we really enjoyed every minute of our stay! We had the green room, which was so pretty! The breakfast on the roofterrace was always nice and calm!
Mooie kamers, heel fijn dakterras.
It's been great to stay at Salma's Riad Hidden. The room was very nice, large, clean, with tangerine branches almost entering through the windows, beautiful bathroom (though the shower is really an antique piece and hot water doesn't last very long), very kind and professional staff, super convenient location. The internal courtyard doesn't really invite you to spend time there, reading or snoozing, which is something I hoped for, but nonetheless the experience was very good and very good value for money. Most importantly, we had to change our departure and Salma very kindly offered us to partly refund us and she also let us use the riad on our last day in Morocco as a base before leaving to the airport. Even though we never met, Salma has been one of the most caring and oustandingly generous hostesses I've ever encountered. Thank you!!!!
This was my first experience of using Airbnb and Salma and RIad Hidden certainly made a good impression. As a novice, I probably contacted Salma for advice and information more than the usual guest and she was prompt and courteous in her replies. We pre-booked return airport transfers with her, 15E per journey, and I strongly recommend doing this, as you are escorted to the door and you'd spend an age looking for it otherwise.
The Riad is exactly like the photos. Location is perfect: one minute to the Souks, two to Jamaa El Fna - Having read previous reviews we requested the Green Room which is on the first floor. The room is gorgeous: one double bed, which I wasn't sure about as I was sharing with my daughter, but it it huge, must be a king size. Plenty of blankets and heaters in the room, although it wasn't as cold at night as we'd been lead to believe. From reading the site, we knew the doors had no locks; it's really not a problem. You feel totally secure. Hassan and Karim are always around and are charming and helpful, plus there's a small safe for valuables in the wardrobe if you need it.
The courtyard is shaded and quirky with four orange trees and an eclectic mix of furnishings which work. We either ate breakfast here, or on the sun terrace, served between (phone number hidden). However, one day we asked for a 6.30am serving as we were visiting the desert for two days, and this was not a problem. The staff are flexible and accommodating. I echo a previous reviewer's comments - Marrakech is mad and exciting but you almost need to get out of it to fully appreciate it. Go to the Atlas Mountains, go to the desert, visit the Berber villages and then come back and sit in Jamaa El Fna and be amazed at the contrast. - The main square is fantastic at night and I strongly recommend eating at one of the hundred food stalls that spring up each evening - tagine, pastille, couscous, kebabs - fantastic value for money. And do haggle,- even as two women we didn't find this difficult and got some seriously good bargains. A final word- when the frenzy of Marrakech gets too much, you must go to a Hamman - the closest one to Riad Hidden is the Isis- 2 hours including 1hour massage, salt scub etc for equivalent £35 - fantastic value. Riad Hidden and Marrakech are delightful.
I really enjoyed my stay at Riad Hidden and give it high recommendations.
We had arranged with the riad to be picked up at the airport, and I recommend it for newcomers. However, our driver arrived about 25 minutes late, after another very helpful driver at the airport saw our situation, asked to help us, and called the riad. (I did not have cell service.) The Jemaa El Fnaa square is closed to vehicular traffic after 1:00, so it would have been difficult for us to find the riad on our own after using a taxi.
That was the only glitch in the service provided by the riad. The power did go out one morning, but that was not the fault of the riad. The location was outstanding, the bed was big and comfortable, the room was clean, the bathroom was well-appointed, the breakfast provided was large and well prepared, the wi-fi was fast, and the staff was attentive. Although guests are not provided keys to the riad or to the room, we and our belongings were secure. Despite the cool February weather, the room was warm. The riad was amazingly quiet. Every guide book we read warned of pickpockets and of being harassed in the souks. We experienced none of that; we felt very safe there.
