Description

The Space

1100 square feet of perfectly proportioned space and light, on Mountjoy Square in Dublin city centre. This is a ground floor apartment which occupies a whole floor in a Georgian House, built in 1795. We welcome you to Dublin and to this elegant, comfortable, relaxing space.

Martin lives upstairs so is available to meet your needs and welcome you to Dublin. This is a safe and gay-friendly space. Families are very welcome, as are family pets.

The apartment is on Mountjoy Square, which dates from the Georgian era between 1780 and 1800. This red-bricked house is one of the few remaining on this side of the city with original features from the first occupants. This apartment in particular is decorated with cornicing with decorative mouldings, sash windows and an ornamental plaster moulding framing the bedroom door. In the hallway to the building examples can be seen of a Georgian stairway, mirroring and chandelier lighting. Just on the doorstep is Mountjoy Square Park which is open to the public and is an oasis of green in the city centre.

About the apartment:
This apartment has one large bedroom, a large living room and a separate kitchen and bathroom with a balcony. Although the price quoted is for two people the apartment has room to sleep six. In the main bedroom there are two single sofa beds and a double bed. In the living room there is a double sofa bed. These are of very high quality and are comfortable. Guest Access

There is a secure car park at the rear of the apartment. We have cots and a high chair for babies,a babysitter, an Ipad with 3g to get you round Dublin, dublin bike cards and helmets (free bike scheme with a bike stand nearly outside the door). There is a private balcony at the back of the apartment for smokers. This is a self contained apartment so guests have access to all parts of the apartment.

Interaction with Guests

I will meet people when they arrive, and show them around the apartment. I also live on Mountjoy Square. If people are staying for more than 3 days, I will try and pop in to say hello and also usually try to meet guests as they leave to make sure everything has gone well and learn any lessons to improve the experience for future guests.

We can facilitate checkin between 2pm and 8pm. If your arrival is after this time please contact me before booking.

The Neighborhood

We love our area, and are active members of the Mountjoy Square Society. Set in the midst of the North Georgian Core of Dublin, Mountjoy Square is full of history. It even features in Joyce's work. Mountjoy square is a vibrant, inner city, well populated area with lots of nationalities and lots of young people. The chinese quarter with its great restaurants and atmosphere is just three minutes walk away. We would not live anywhere else!!

Getting Around

You can park in a secure car park at the back of the apartment.
- Airport - 40 minutes by the number 41 bus which leaves from the Square and stops on Dorset Street and the airport bus goes from O'Connell Street, a five minute walk away. Alternatively you can get a cab from the airport for max 25 euro.
Tourists can pick up a round dublin tourist bus for 15 euro from Cathal Brugha Street, a few minutes walk away. These tour buses are a fantastic way to orientate yourself to the city and decide which attraction you want to hop on/hop off to!!

Other Things to Note

We have a library of books for you to use, and encourage guests to leave finished novels, and pick up new ones. We really like meeting new people and enjoy being air bnb hosts.

The Mountjoy Square Society regularly runs guided walks of Mountjoy Square as well as participating in events such as open house and culture night - these happen in September.

House Rules

Please be pleasant and polite. The house is quiet and people respect each other. So we do not want groups of people who are rowdy, loud or drunk.

Please don't smoke in the apartment, there is a balcony off the kitchen where you can smoke.

Apart from that, there are no particular rules, except enjoy Dublin.
