  • Kostas is the best host I've ever had on any of my travels. He's incredibly nice and helpful, going out of his way to make your stay everything you'd want it to be. The room is nice and tidy, with a good bed and useable kitchen area. It's located in the heart of Sparti (Sparta), easily found and perfect as a base to explore the surrounding areas. I absolutely would recommend to anyone and hope to return myself one day.

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Sparta. Kostas was an all round awesome person and we enjoyed meeting him. We would definitely come back!

  • I had a great stay at Kostas'. For one person, the studio is perfect: it is a small and clean, practical and quiet place, with a great view over the mountains, and a strong familiar feeling when you come in.

The location is ok, 10 minutes walk from the bus station and 10 to reach the center of the town. South Peloponnese is beautiful, and Sparti is a really good place to stay if you can rent a car to discover it. From there, I could make one-day excursions to wonderful places like Monemvasia, South Lakonia (Gytheio, Mani) and the Antic site of Archaia Messini. The road between Sparti and Kalamata, through the mountains, is one of the most beautiful I ever saw. Near Sparti you also have the amazing Middle Ages site of Mystras, and the town's archeological museum is worth it.

But the very best point of my experience went to Kostas himself. He is the BEST host you can ever have! He was very kind and helpful from the time I contacted him to rent the place. He really helped me to find a car in Sparti, and as he was in Athens during the time I stayed, he proposed me to drive me from the place I stayed in Athens to the bus station. Just few exemples of a really kind, warm and generous person, with a great sense of hospitality! He is also really friendly, pleasant and interesting to talk with, we had a nice meeting and great conversations.

In Sparti I was welcomed by his mother, who lives in the building and is a very nice person too. In case there is a problem she will be there for you.

The only warning I can make concerns the heating, if you come in Winter like me - it is quite noisy and could be more efficient. But this critic only concerns Winter time, and is nothing compared to the whole satisfaction I got of this experience.

I just can highly recommand to stay at Kostas', since I definitely kept unforgettable memories of this trip, and that thanks to my host!

  • The best part of traveling are the people, and these are two of the very best we have ever met! Georgia greeted us so warmly and was so very kind to us every time we chatted with her. And Kostas is amazing, he was so informative, thoughtful, and helpful with everything. Even though he was in Athens when we came, we really hope we get the chance to meet him. As for the apartment itself, it is pretty simple and straightforward. One bedroom, a small kitchen, and bathroom. The views were great from the roof and we really can't think of anything else we could want. The location was great, we walked there in about 10 minutes from the bus station on our first night, and were able to walk to all the sites in Sparti. (archaeological museum, ancient Sparta, Olive Museum, etc…) And of course it was simple to catch a bus to visit Mystras. Thanks so much to Kostas and Georgia for making our stay in Sparti special and memorable, all the very best to you both!

The room is clean and calm and not far from the bus station. It's very easy to go from Sparta to Mystra and the south of Lakonia.

  • Kostas was great. He went out of his way to advise on how to make the most efficient attempts in accessing ancestry information that is nearly impossible to do remotely. He really enjoys the new perspectives his guests bring.

I stayed in both the Athens and Sparta locations, which were both spotless, very close to grocery stores and restaurants, and had awesome views. The wi-fi in Sparta was very solid, and helped a lot with staying up to date with family on (website hidden) and translating Greek to English.

My experience in Greece was 50 times more enriching, because Kostas sincerely considered my key priorities and how he could advise to ensure I could do what I most needed to do during my limited visit when he had personal schedule flexibility, and openly shared his opinions on lifestyle contrasts between regions and the political challenges on the world stage.

I can't thank Kostas enough for his facilitation on my visit. I used to think Hawaii was was best place on Earth - but Greece has won the top spot for me - and I can't want to return.

About
Hi I'm Kostas, a Greek-Canadian born in Sparta who grew up in Montreal and lives (mostly) in Athens since the late 90's. I am somewhat of a geek and often caught evangelising about the potential of the internet age, open source software and information technology in general. I have studied Sociology, Philosophy and Environmental Science. I play the guitar, like to sing and write blues/folk/pop/rock tunes although I pretty much enjoy listening to most musical genres. Having grown up in the multicultural environment of Montreal I really enjoy meeting folks from all over the world. I am having a blast here on Airbnb, have met some amazing people and look forward to meeting you too! I try my best to be a model host and cater to the different needs of my guests, so don't hesitate to contact me!
