About This Listing
The private terrace of 'Le Petit Lapin': perfect for a glass of wine after a day out at Mont Saint Michel!
On the Brittany-Normandy border, 'Le Petit Lapin' is a traditional Breton cottage located on top of a hill in the small village of Sains, nine kilometres from the famous medieval site of Mont Saint Michel. Renting from Saturday to Saturday in high season and by the night (2 nights minimum) the rest of the year, this small self-catering holiday cottage sleeping 2-4 people has a lovely view over the Couesnon Valley to the south.
The lively market town of Pontorson, the gateway to Mont Saint Michel, is six kilometres to the east in Normandy, while Dol de Bretagne, with its ancient cathedral, is eight kilometres to the west in Brittany. Dol additionally boasts several fine restaurants and a public indoor swimming pool.
Sandy beaches are a thirty-minute drive from the house, as is dramatic cliff-walking near Cancale, a town famed for its oysters. Saint Malo, with its old walled town and a large aquarium, is also a thirty-minute drive, as is the beautiful medieval town of Dinan and the seaside town of Dinard. Rennes, the capital of Brittany, is a hour away and has a fabulous Saturday market, but there are plenty of colourful local markets throughout the week in Dol (Saturday), Saint James (Monday) and Pontorson (Wednesday).
Please note that the minimum stay is usually two nights, but I prefer week-long bookings in the summer (July and August), due to the region's popularity, although I am happy to make exceptions if there is availability. Monthly rentals are normally only available November through March.

Our stay at "The Petit Lapin" was our first experience with Airbnb. Being very independent- well traveled people who have high expectations, we can say that our experience was one of the most relaxing, enjoyable and memorable of our many trips. The property is set in the small and truly quaint French village of Sains. The hostess Caroline’s story of finding the old farm property and the process of care given to renovations only added to the appreciation of the experience of the stay. We had been traveling for two weeks staying at hotels and inns (which were nice), but “The Petit Lapin” and our hostess provided us with the feeling of being at a private refuge for a few days. The location is in easy access to of all area tourist locations including Mont St. Michele. Caroline provided reference maps, directions and personal points of interest that only added to our trip. We had a wonderful stay at “The Petit Lapin” cottage and hated that we had to leave. The experience established a standard for us by which we will compare future experiences with Airbnb. Our thanks to Caroline for a wonderful stay and the memories!

Very cute and comfortable house in a good location. Could happily spend a week in this fire n even share it for a few days with a friend (a small loft bed). Very relaxing place.

Caroline's cottage was perfect for our stay. Located in the idyllic countryside of Brittany, the cottage offered a tranquil respite from the nearby tourist sites. The weather did not permit us to enjoy the outdoor spaces, which included a private deck and BBQ area. The interior was tastefully appointed, and Caroline offered helpful advice in dining and visiting local attractions.
Caroline met us with a welcoming smile and made us feel welcome from start to finish.
Le petit Lappin is the perfect haven for visiting Brittany.
We will be back!
It was a wonderful stay in Caroline's cottage, it was very clean and very comfortable, 10 minutes to Le Mont Saint-Michel. And thanks to valuable suggestions from Caroline, we found lot of good restaurants and nature site views. We suddenly want come back to "Le petit lapin", thanks Caroline.
About the Host, Caroline
I'm a writer and a retired university professor of English now living in Brittany, a very beautiful part of France. My little cottage is beside my large granite farm house and I am happy to welcome visitors here from all over the world.
This is a good traditional restaurant near Mont St Michel with a gorgeous view of the abbey over the polders from the terrace or the inside. Theres a choice of set menus at reasonable prices, too.Route de la Rive Ardevon Pontorson 50170
This is a local restaurant in a large 18th-century granite farm house with an open fire. Prices are reasonable; there are quiet tables in corners for couples, but its quite family-friendly, too!La Cour Verte Dol-de-Bretagne Bretagne 35120
A Breton restaurant 10 min from La Petit Lapin, with a gorgeous granite fireplace (cosy in winter) and a terrace (lovely in summer sun). Prices are reasonable and the owner welcomes families.Dol-de-Bretagne Bretagne 35120
