Why The Wandering Bear

For about five years this little retreat was simply 'Cabin 135'. We were too busy making it cozy to name it.

But the name finally found us.

Bears wander, sometimes with purpose, sometimes in circles, yet always find their way where they are meant to be. We hope this cabin becomes that place for you, whether you are seeking adventure, reconnection, or a quiet reset.

🐻 Welcome to The Wandering Bear Cabin!

Guest access
There is keyless entry. We will provide guests with their code prior to check-in.

Other things to note
❄️ Winter Travel Notes
Winter in the mountains is beautiful and sometimes unpredictable.

If you are visiting during the winter months, please plan to carry tire chains and or drive an AWD vehicle. Chains are required when traveling beyond Longmire inside Mount Rainier National Park, and they may also be helpful when driving to the cabin if there is snow.

Our driveway is short and flat, and we shovel regularly. However, icy conditions can occur, and you may need to drive through light snow or packed ice depending on recent weather. Planning ahead ensures a smooth and stress free arrival.

🔦 Power Outages
Occasional power outages can happen in the mountain area, especially during winter storms. They are typically brief and often restored within a few hours.

We keep flashlights in the cabinet under the record player in case of an outage. The cabin stays cozy, and most guests find it part of the mountain experience.

🐾 Pet Policy
We are proudly dog friendly and welcome up to two dogs with a pet fee.

Unfortunately, we are unable to host cats due to a serious allergy our cleaner has. Thank you so much for your understanding.
