Chic Loft By Kastanienallee

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Schwedter Straße, Berlin, Berlin 10435, Germany

Splendid newly renovated and refurbished 44 square meter (474 square feet) loft apartment in an historical original pre-war Berlin building!

The Space

This splendid newly renovated and refurbished 44 square meter loft apartment in an historical original pre-war Berlin building which at the time was built and used as a chocolate factory is situated just off Kastanienallee and a stone's throw to Mauerpark (where the Wall once divided the city), home of Berlin's legendary Sunday flea market. I employ this cosy living space as my artists studio and when I am busy working on the post production of editorial/book projects I open it to guests who I think will enjoy and respect the apartment.

Schwedter Strasse is right in the centre of Prenzlauer Berg, next to Oderberger Strasse and Zionskirchplatz, amidst historical buildings and beautiful old architecture. The Wall used to run at the end of Schwedter Strasse and Bernauer Strasse, where one of the last remaining parts of the Wall still stands and can be visited. Today, cute coffee shops, vibrant bars, restaurants from all corners of the world, art galleries, vintage furniture and clothing shops can be found all around the area.

The apartment is very quiet, as the building is set back from the street with its own courtyard and security gate. There is a new and pretty children's playground for the occupants of the house. Furthermore, a bakery and supermarket are located literally across the street.

There is Wireless Internet (Wi-Fi). Door buzzer with Wireless Interkom system.

The light-flooded flat has wooden floors throughout, central and floor heating, a fully fitted kitchen and separate bathroom. The windows are over-sized and allow for plenty of light. There is a modern kitchen with Dishwasher, Fridge/Freezer, Cooker, Pots and Pans, Plates, Kettle, Toaster, Coffeemachine, etc.

The apartment has a large double bed as well as a sofa bed. Bedsheets and towels are included. Iron and ironing board.

There is also a separate bathroom with natural light coming in through a large window. Hairdryer and scales are available.

The apartment is just a scenic walk from Alexanderplatz, Museum Island, and Mitte's Hackescher Markt. Connected by U-Bahn (nearest tube station Eberswalder Strasse) and various tram lines it is perfectly positioned for a stay in Berlin and is also conveniently close to world famous landmarks such as Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie and the Reichstag.

Two of Berlin's best flea markets are a 5 minute walk away: Mauerpark Flohmarkt and Trödelmarkt Arkonaplatz.

Pop star Madonna has recently opened a gym in the area, named Hard Candy. A Yoga and Pilates centre is located next door to the apartment building. There is also an organic supermarket on Schwedter Strasse.

Please note this is a non-smoking apartment.

I look forward to hosting you in the future!

Interaction with Guests

I work for various international arts, fashion and culture magazines and need to keep my finger on the pulse of Berlin's cultural scene, so I should be able to help you with suggestions of places, museums, galleries, parties to visit during your stay.

The Neighborhood

Prenzlauer Berg is by far my favourite area to live in Berlin, it's culturally vibrant and full of successful creative types, with internationally successful film directors, artists, musicians and magazine editors all breathing in its chic yet bohemian air. It is very central, yet greener than much of Berlin (and just a few minutes walk to Mitte), and is full of restaurants, coffee shops, bars, art cinemas, independent fashion, vintage, record shops, and English language bookstores. Mauerpark (and its epic Sunday fleamarket) where the Berlin wall formally ran is just at the end of the street. The area also feels very safe at all hours of night and day, partly thanks to its thriving restaurant, coffeehouse, and bar scene. Architecturally the area is also very beautiful, with a large number of it's old buildings surviving the war. Prenzlauer Berg avoids the concrete jungle vibe much of Berlin possesses.

Getting around

Transport wise, you could hardly be better located, with two tram lines, and two U-Bahn stations just at the end of the street and a few minutes walk away. In only a few stops you can reach central Mitte, Museum Island/the River Spree, Alexanderplatz etc. These destinations are also a scenic walking distance from the apartment.

  • Our stay at Heike's apartment was a lovely experience. The place looks exactly as shown on the website. The room is quite big, clean, warm, ideal for a couple. WIFi functioned perfectly. It has a plus because it is situated on the ground floor so you don't have to climb stairs every time. Also, the neighbourhood is nice, quiet with plenty of cafes and restaurants and not to far from the city centre, we walked every time (for about 30 minutes) because we enjoyed decovering the city.
I would recommend the place to everyone who wants to have a great time in Berlin.

  • Heike's place is fantastic and she is very friendly and accommodating! My girlfriend and I arrived in Berlin very late at night and so we weren't able to meet Heike until 12:45 AM. She was very understanding about the late arrival and it was much appreciated. The apartment is a big loft with tons of space and very nice! The neighborhood where this is located is also amazing, and I am so glad we ended up here! There is so much character in the neighborhood with tons of great shops, cafes, restaurants, etc. Also, the Sunday flea markets were only a 5 minute walk away and a lot of fun. Would definitely recommend staying at Heike's place and would definitely stay there again!

  • Fantastisk lägenhet, ljus, öppen och trevlig.
Snabba svar och trevligt bemötande från värden.
I närheten av lägenheten finns både kvällsöppen affär och mängder med frukostställen och restauranger.

  • Heike's apt on Schwedter Strasse was spacious, modern, safe, and quiet. It is on the ground floor which made it easy coming and going. There was plenty of oom for 2 people. The kitchen was large enough to prepare meals. (Even had a dishwasher). the Bathroom is comfortable with good water pressure. It is about a 10 minute easy walk to the nearest U bahn, but there are lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Very close to the Flohmarkets and grocery store across the street. Heike is a very nice person and would recommend her apt to anyone.

Sleuteloverdracht e.d. verliep erg gemakkelijk. Een aanrader!
