The space

Apartment for rent in the tiny fisher village of Santa Lucia, 7km from Siniscola, about 45 south of Olbia, a few meters from the sea front and a just a few minutes' walk from a long, white sandy beach and a short drive from many other famous ones such as Capo Comino, Berchida, Sa Ena e sa Chita, etc. The village is surrounded by long stretches of pine forest, fields and meadows, hills and mountains at its back, and offers a unique combination of sea, country and village life that is hard to find anywhere else in Sardinia. The house was built in 2010 respecting local character and traditions, and the rooms are decorated in a fresh country style, that will immediately make you feel at home. Inside the house at your disposal are two bedrooms and a living room with kitchen and fireplace, plus a master bathroom and a smaller bathroom
1 room has a double and a single bed and can accomodate 3
1 room has two single beds but a third bed for a little child can be added on demand. When it's hot, the house is cool as it is quite well insulated, has double exposition so that sea air circulates when windows are open and, if all this does not work when it gets really hot, there is airconditioning installed in the living room. However, due to the fact that cost for energy in second homes in Italy are incredibly high, we ask our guests to pay an extra 5 euros a day for using this service.
Santa Lucia is the ideal place for families with children, romantic couples, and in general people who like nature and peace, but also wish an authentic Sardinian experience, very different from the one you can have if you spend your holidays in one of the many anonimous places set up by the tourist industry. In fact,if you are not bothered by the artificiality of so called tourist villages and condos and are maybe ready to put up with it in exchange for a dramatic seaview amidst rocks on a cliff, then the village is perhaps not the right place for you. But if you care for mellow surroundings dotted with coark oak, wild olive trees, meadows, pasture land and long stretches of pine forest, village life, grannies dressed in black sitting outside in the shadow during hot days, old fishers playing cards under the pergola of the historical Bar di Agnese, then you will find this unique blend of nature and culture right here. The village is also ideally located 1 km away from the Orientale Sarda (the ancient state road Olbia-Cagliari), so perfect for daily trips in the region, for those who like a more active holiday. In the high season (mid july to mid august) like every other seaside resort in Italy, Santa Lucia gets more crowded and lively (musical events, folk festival, etc.).For a unique experience, however, come to Santa Lucia when not many other tourists are around. The house is now equipped to be warm and cosy in every month of the year (fireplace and heat pump). You will enjoy the calm and peace of the village and give your own special contribution to sustainable tourism, helping this tiny village survive as such.

Bicycles for rent and airport pick up at Olbia are available for convenient prices, so are Italian lessons (Tamara is a highly experienced teacher of Italian language to foreigners)

The place is OK. There is no terrace and the windows are not facing the sea as one might think from description and reading reviews. The bed was very uncomfortable. The pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable too. But all of these inconveniences are a minor problem. We stayed for th…

Response from Tamara:
Der Anya, Thank God most people who use airbnb are very different from you, otherwise I would have long ago stopped hosting! The only mitigating circumstance I can grant you for the nonsense you wrote, is your young age and probably your lack of experience. Do you realize that you are the only one in a pack of people that responded in this negative way to our hospitality? Fortunately 33 positive reviews are there to contradict you. Not a single guest has ever said that the beds in my apartment are unconfortable, quite the opposite, or even less, that I am unpleasant or unfriendly. If so many people think differently from you, are you sure you are right? time for a reality check. Your statements and your whole behaviour have been very superficial, in fact also for what concerns the windows not facing the sea in my apartment, there is absolutely nothing in the ad that boasts sea-view, I simply write that the seafront is at the end of the street, a few meters away, which is the truth and some guests recently have written that if you lean out of the windows (nor from the living room sofa) you can look at the sea, which is again the truth. So you are perfectly wrong when you say that one might think from description that the apartment faces the sea! You got a super apartment, new, clean, nicely decorated, with a large living room with a big kitchen for 45 euros a day, for about the price of a cheap youth hostel, but that's not enough, you dont want to respect the rules and when one reminds you of them, then you pretend you didnt hear or say that others cannot explain themselves correctly. There were no language barriers here causing the misunderstanding, I m sorry, although I am not a native speaker, I can make myself perfectly understood in English, the only problem is that, as an Italian proverb goes "None is more deaf than the one who does not want to hear". As you told your version of the story to the community, let the community hear my story. I arrived in Santa Lucia on the saturday morning on which you were supposed to check out not later than 11.00 as stated in the ad and in the online booking voucher that you got from airbnb. Are you able to read? Did you bother to check? However, we never insist on people respecting check in and check out rigidly whenever this is possible (in fact you had taken possession of the apartment at 1.20 pm and not 15.00 time when you would have had the right to do so). For checkin out, however, it wasnt possible to be flexible. I arrived in Santa Lucia at 9.30, a little earlier than necessary to be sure I could say good-bye to my guests in case they left early. You and your boyfriend were not sleeping anymore, as I heard voices coming through the kitchen window, so I assumed you were having breakfast. Since we had not previously met (you had collected the keys at a friend's on arrival) I thought it would be nice to say hallo and exchange a few words with you, as I usually do with all my guests. I rang the bell, but nobody answered, so I called out your name and you came to the window. You did not look as if you appreciated the interruption, so I cut out the chat and just reminded you to please be on time with the checking out because we were expecting other guests and I needed to clean. You replied not to worry and that you would be out by 12.00. I said that I was sorry but it had to be 11 because there were other guests to whom I had promised (they have a little baby) to check in by 13.00 . You said ok and went inside, looking rather displeased. I remained in the storage room on the ground floor (should I have gone back to Nuoro?) and then outside, watering the plants, cleaning in front of the house and sorting out the waste that you and your friend had not separated correctly, at least some of it, in fact it hadnt been collected, and that's how I made my presence felt, I suppose I should have disappeared or made myself invisible not to harm your delicate sensibilities, unfortunately I couldnt as those things had to be done before the next guests arrived. When I finished at about 10.30 I went for a little walk with my daughter and came back at 11. At 11.15 you and your friend had not yet given any sign that you were ready to go, so I had to call again and again and insist you get out, which you finally did sulkily. At that point I did probably look rather unhappy thinking of all the work that was waiting for me, including disposing o all the waste that would remain uncollected till the next monday, still I managed to tell you not to worry about the garbage, I knew it is a fairly complicated system, so people on holidays for a few days cannot really bother to master every detail...., and told you again that I wished I didnt have to hurry you up but I had no choice. I also wrote a rather neutral review for you, since all in all, the overall experience with you was not that negative, I mean the most important thing is of course that there are no damages in the apartment and that the place is not too untidy when people leave, guests do not necessarily have to be friendly or spend time with us. I knew you didnt appreciate the fact that you had to leave the aprtment an hour before you had planned, but since you did not have the right to stay, I did not really expect such a negative review, as every negative review damages our work to a certain extent, I didnt think you'd be so mean, but it seems I was wrong, that's why I'm writing my own version of the story for the community, and it is up to the people who read to decide who between the two of us deserves more credibility.
