Interaction with Guests
When I am home, I am happy to make coffee, tea, breakfast, or act as a guide for a run, hike or bike ride. But since I an often on the roadr, my roommate Mark is around. He is a great host in my absence.
The neighborhood consists of three dwellings, surrounded by park land. It is a nature lover paradise. The trails are right at the property line. Mellow, peaceful vibe in a home that is solar powered.
There is no smoking in the house.
Please note that this is my home, so there is someone who will be at the house. If you are looking for complete privacy, this is not the place for you. While I do respect your privacy and hope that you will come and go as you please, understand that this is not a whole empty house that you will be renting. Think of it as staying at a friend's house and treat it as such. If I am not working, I will be cooking breakfast for everyone in the house but this only happens when I am not working.
We only stayed with Colleen for the night, but the room was wonderful and backs right up into the New River Gorge National Forest. She was very helpful about helping us navigate there and cooked us a great breakfast to go! Her roommate, Mark, was also lovely and very welcoming. I highly reccommend a stay!
I haven't met Colleen but the experience was great !
What I liked :
- She has an awesome cat.
- She has the best roommate, Mark.
- Mark is the nicest dude, and he makes bread. It's worth the best French bakeries. And he's cool with it, like it's nothing. He gave me the recipe and I make bread myself now. It's changed my life.
- I've been there in winter time and it was great to learn how to master the fireplace with a good beer and chat with Mark, you just feel like living the life.
- I've spotted a deer one night, from the deck.
Rustic, good vibes. 5 stars.
Colleen's place is a delightful and cozy home to stay at. Both Colleen and her roomate Mark were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. We felt like we were staying with friends, and they were hardly ever home, so we had the place to ourselves most of the time. We enjoyed exploring the hours of hiking trails right out the front door. Fayetteville is a lovely little town with great restaurants and fantastic hiking and rock climbing. We would do it all again.
Accurate listing. Colleen and her roommate were great. Felt like we were staying with friends.
Unfortunately we didn't meet Colleen. But Mark -a friend of her- hosted us perfectly. We had a great time with nice people and enjoyed the fantastic nature!
It was such a great time staying with Colleen's place! It was just amazing! It is in perfect location to trails that we loved! Colleen is a great host! We totally felt like staying over in a friend's place. I certainly recommend her place!
P.S. If you are in the season, fireflies there at night are unbelievable! I haven't seen that many fireflies at once!
Staying at Coleen's has been a great pleasure. It is a quiet place, in the middle of the nature, surrounded by trees, few steps away (literally) from the trails. Indoor, the house has large space, tastly furnished, great kitchen, nice bath and shower (relaxing after a hike). Fayetteville is truly the 'coolest smallest town', people is friendly, and there are tons of outdoor activities (rafting, climbing, hiking, etc.). I plan to go back to WV and to her place.
I am a freelance camera operator from WV.
Since I travel quite a bit for work I can't always host. Depending on the situation, it may still be possible to stay when I am out of town.
