About the Area:
"Killarney is well populated with parks and green spaces, reflecting its forest history. The largest is Everett Crowley Park, along Kerr Street and north of Marine Drive; this park was originally a forested area with a ravine and waterfall that was used as a landfill for many years before being closed and reclaimed to its present form. Across Kerr is the Fraserview Golf Course, which also includes a number of trails. "

Nadikja was very quick in responding to my request. However, she was also quick to let me know what I had requested (a lovely room w/private bath @ $48 CAD) was in US dollars & I needed to pay an extra US$20 upon check in. This booking was done short notice, two days prior to check in. Only after I returned home was I able to check things out. I had requested a room with private bath. Thus, I was over charged. For this reason I will not book another trip on such a short notice so that I am able to verify things thoroughly. Throughout my stay it appears I was the only paying guest.
I saw the parents at beginning of my stay. They seemed very pleasant, and their dog very cute. I was offered all the kale I wanted and some soup Sunday evening. Monday morning I was given some Italian plums.
I also saw her mom on Sunday morning when I was asked about when I would leave. I was asked this again Sunday evening and by her husband Monday morning. I left well before 10 am and my stay lasted four nights. The purpose of my stay was educational and my focus was study and not pleasure.
The room is really cosy and Al and shanti are lovely People! I slept extremly well ( and i dont always do ( ;) and can defenitly recommend it! I do agree about the deposit though , that should be less, especially as airbnb insurance covers everything above 350 Dollars, so 900 are unnecessary.
I enjoyed my stay overall at the home as both Nadika's parents are good hosts. I would make a couple of suggestions on giving the guest larger towels to use and reduce the security deposit to one week. As a property owner myself in Alberta, I can only hold a month's security deposit for a month's rent. I'm not sure what the tenant rules are in B.C. but it may not be that much different.
I had a great time with Nadika's parents, they were very kind and friendly hosts. They gave me a quick tour of the neighbourhood, live very close to Burnaby Central Park and are simply wonderful people. The bed was comfortable with access to a kitchen, a private bath, and its own living room. (email hidden) to set up a base for a few days in the area.
We'd like to thank those nice and long conversations we had together and the warm hospitality. Our three years old son could study some useful English expressions as well. You cooked such good dinners for us, so we could taste your traditional food. Thank you for the clean kitchen and rooms as well. Here we don't want to repeat all those nice words what your previous guests were saying. Anyway, we agree all of them. Thank you!
It's a really comfortable room, nice people, easy to get everywhere in Vancouver. Great value. I recommend it.
Stayed here twice because we love the host so much !
(the place is great as well... awesome value pricewise and its a higher end home !)
See you again soon Nadika !
I stayed at Nadika's parent's house. They were wonderful hosts. they made me feel at home. They were so sweet to take me some places and offer me food. The place is in a nice quiet neighborhood but close to everything. The bus stop is around the corner, supermarket and lots of stores are within walking distance. I will definitly stay with them next time.
Although Nadika wasn't really our host, her parents, Al and Shanti, were very graceous and helpful during our stay. Al is especially a sweetheart. We had an issue with the bathroom and he fixed it immediately. Overall the experience was great and the location was even better (Walking distance to restaurants, the Skytrain, and a beautiful park.) I wouldn't mind staying here again if/when I return to beautiful Vancouver.
Al & Shanthi hosted us in their home as we relocated to Vancouver for work. They were extremely welcoming and sharing, arranging a mini fridge, and even selling us some unused furniture to furnish our new flat together with recommending a removals person who was well priced and easy to deal with. They are well versed in many cultures of the world and easy to stay with. There was a dog in the house, but we had no real issues with it. And if arriving by SkyTrain, catch the 26 bus as the house is a 15 min uphill walk with luggage from the Joyce Collingwood station. Overall a pleasant experience.
