About the Area:
"Killarney is well populated with parks and green spaces, reflecting its forest history. The largest is Everett Crowley Park, along Kerr Street and north of Marine Drive; this park was originally a forested area with a ravine and waterfall that was used as a landfill for many years before being closed and reclaimed to its present form. Across Kerr is the Fraserview Golf Course, which also includes a number of trails. "

Nadika was a very nice and pleasant host and gave me good directions to find the house. Her parents were very welcoming and I was even invited to a traditional family dinner which was amazing and a great experience.
The room and bathroom were was clean, as was the house. Location is good, close to bus and skytrain routes. Really enjoyed it!
Our experience was nice enough. The room was small but clean. The TV did not work. The wifi was great, especially since our cell reception left us at the border. The bed was not comfortable or even a real bed, it felt like a futon. We were happy to stay here because it saved money but not for many other reasons. Nadika was kind through messages. We never met her although we stayed for 3 nights. One night the other guests above us were so loud at 5:30am and didn't let up until about 7am. I would recommend this bnb if you want to save money.
Many thanks for your warm hospitality, service and room.
The family is very helpful and friendly, house and neighbourhood wonderful.
The location is close to bus stop and skytrain.
It was a pleasure meeting you. Hope we see us again :-)
We were welcomed by the host, Nadika, the night we arrived. She showed us our room, and the facilities we would be using (including the telephone for local calls).
The house was very nice, located in a quiet residential neighbourhood close to a park and within easy walking distance of a supermarket. Although we did not use public transportation, that too was very close to the house.
We were alone in the house for several days, until the owners returned from a trip. They were a wonderful couple (Nadika's parents), who really made us feel comfortable sharing their home.
The next time we are in Vancouver, we will definitely stay here again if it is available.
Everything was perfect. Shanti and Al were very nice and accommodating. I would love to come back and stay here again if I had a chance to be back in Vancouver. I miss their little puppy :-)
Nadika's parents (Al and Shanthi) were the hosts, while I coordinated logistics mainly with Nadika. I can speak from past Airbnb experiences that it is just as much about the people as it is about the room and amenities. This spot has so much of both! I was late for my check-in, but Al and Shanthi were nonetheless ready to welcome me when I arrived. We shared laughs, stories, and food until late into the night. It was then that I knew this was going to be an excellent stay. Their 'instant trust' in me was admirable.
The pictures are pin-accurate about the room and amenities - very clean, airy, and organized. Al and Shanthi were even kind enough to provide a fan to help me get through the hot Vancouver summer nights (yes, the window opens very wide)! There is also a mini-fridge that isn't pictured - very useful for storing my own stash of drinks and food. I slept well every night, and the room and bed were bigger than I thought it would be (great for 1, a bit tight for 2). Lots of storage in the room to store clothes and your belongings. Nice touch for them to provide a key to lock the room when you leave for the day. If you have to do laundry, there is a laundromat about 3 blocks down, not 1 as mentioned.
I rented a bike from downtown and was out for all but 2-3 hours of the day every day of my 10-day stay (they even let me store my bike indoors!). Every day, I looked forward to coming home to talk to Al and Shanthi - they are truly remarkable people who are eager to share time, tips, stories, laughs, and food with you.
Like the best hosts, they will also provide you with the space and time that you need and are amazingly nimble at adjusting their level of support. If you're the independent type, they will be eager to hear how your day went and simply ask whether you need anything. I have no doubt that if you are the opposite, who needs more guidance navigating Vancouver, they will happily provide you with the support that you need!
Their dog, Lexus, is a joy as well, and Al and Shanthi are tactful in making sure that her presence does not impose on your stay or space.
As great as Airbnb is, it is not common for a host to provide a bright backdrop and outline to your stay. I have stayed with friendly, but ultimately forgettable, hosts before. Refreshingly, Al and Shanthi (as well as Nadika, who was in and out) made me feel like I was part of the family from the very first night that I met them, and for this, I will be forever grateful to them.
Consider yourself lucky if you are able to book this room, and that's one less part of your trip to worry about! Happy travels!
This is my first experience renting a room in someone's home and sharing the living space with the property owners and other guests. I want to thank you very much for making my stay in your home so pleasant in every way. It is nicely appointed and very clean, and I also was pleased at the privacy of the space. The convenience factor is exceptional too, with easy access to bus lines and the Safeway within walking distance. Overall I enjoyed my stay in your home very much and definitely would like come again. Thank you.
