NB During the summer school holidays the minimum stay is 7 nights Sat to Sat.
The village of Harbertonford is a great place to stay for exploring Devon and the South Hams. The market town of Totnes with its excellent shops, restaurants, cafes and markets is less than 10 minutes drive. Dartington Hall and Schumacher cottage are just a couple of minutes further on. Dartmouth and Dittisham, a great spot for sailing, crabbing, boat trips or visiting Agatha Christie's house Greenways are a few minutes drive. Many of South Devon's best beaches, such as the award winning Blackpool sands and Beesands are also within a short drive. The open moorland of Dartmoor is also within easy reach
The cottage, hidden away down a quiet road with no through traffic, is tastefully furnished to a very high standard. From the bright entrance hall you reach the spacious sitting room with two large comfortable sofas, old wooden furniture, a fireplace and a stove (actually electric but could easily pass for a woodburner). Or go down a step to reach the spacious and well-fitted kitchen. This cottage is ideal for a family of four or two couples. Or outside the high season when the crowds have gone and the rates go down it's also perfect for two people.
The village has an exceptionally good village post office which also sells a vast range of food and drink including locally grown produce. And the local pub, the Maltsters Arms is just two minutes walk from the house. Three of Devon's finest Dart riverside pubs - the Ferry Boat Inn at Dittisham and the Maltsters Arms at Tuckhenhay and the Waterman's at Cornworthy are just a short drive.
There are two good sized bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king-sized double bed and a Sony Clock/Radio. The second bedroom has twin beds. The family bathroom has plenty of natural light. There is a bath with a power-shower and folding glass screen. The kitchen is fully equipped for four people. The pine table comfortably seats four.
There is a sunny, private garden with pot plants, a table and four chairs ideal for summer breakfasts. There is a gravelled parking area just outside the cottage shared with two other cottages. From the cottage it is a two minute walk to picturesque Harbertonford Bridge and the village pub and shop.
Lovely, well maintained cottage perfect for a country getaway. We were 2 couples and it suited us very well.
Ben was professional and efficient to deal with and gave us great information about the areas attractions and 'must dos'
The cottage was excellent and we had a great week in Devon. Loved the board games tucked away in the living room!
Sweet cosy cottage, thank you for a lovely stay.
Despite rain, snow and even a little sunshine - had a wonderful time. Great little cottage, clean and tidy - everything you need is there.
Good instructions from Ben despite our very short notice weekend booking,
Good location for Totnes, only takes 10 minutes to get there Spent time in Kingsbridge, on the moors and Dartmouth. Very relaxing.
