The Space

Your perfect country retreat! You won't beat this gorgeous and luxurious space, way up in the treetops with views of Catskill Mountains all around. 1000 sq foot romantic retreat with giant designer bathroom featuring walk in steam shower and huge soaker tub. This special hideaway feels secluded but is only 2 minutes walk from all the conveniences of the charming village of Phoenicia. Private access, sleeps 2-4. No car required- bus direct from Port Authority. Only15 minutes from Woodstock.

Nestled between mountains and the Esopus River, the Loft is an eclectic mix of old world comfort and super modern European luxury. With it's own private stairway access, It occupies the entire third level of our beautiful center hall colonial home, and offers a true spa experience- a huge luxurious bathroom with soaker tub, walk in steam shower and radiant heated floors. Reclaimed barn wood, wide pine floor boards and mountain views add to the ambiance. All the mod cons with large flat screen tv with movies streamed from Netflix via Roku, wi fi, coffee maker and fridge.

Miles of pristine hiking trails await, easily accessible from the Parish Field behind the Village House . Phoenicia is Old World Americana- a hidden gem of a town on the verge of rediscovery. Our village was recently voted one of the Ten Coolest Small Towns in America by Budget Travel Magazine, and for good reason....

Stroll to breakfast at Sweet Sue's for the best (and biggest!) pancakes north of the Mississippi, Brios has great wood fired pizzas, and Ricciardella's has the classier cuisine.Mama's Boy cafe and the newly revamped Phoenicia Diner on Route 28 are each run with flair by ex city slickers looking for a change of pace. Drive 10 minutes to dinner at The Peekamoose for locally sourced produce cooked with love and flair in a beautiful setting. Rent a bike at Mike's Bikes or find something surprising at The Mystery Spot or The Home Store. Monthly art openings at the Arts Upstairs are a blast and classic movies and home grown theater take center stage at the Shandaken Theatrical Society Theater.Take a train ride along the Esopus Creek from the Railway Museum just around the corner. The annual Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice created by the owner of the Loft transforms Phoenicia into a hub for the vocal arts in early August..

Walk five minutes in any direction, and you are in the middle of unbridled wilderness. Wonderful hiking accessible from behind our property, cross country skiing, snow tubing trout fishing, seasonal festivals, you name it!. A haven for lovers, writers, artists, musicians, and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

  • This is a beautiful space in a wonderful area. Excellent spa-like bathroom and walking distance to town and the Esopus creek.

We had some difficulties with the reservation (due to a mix up someone else was in the loft when we arrived). Kerry was quick to switch us to the loft which we appreciated.

We struggled with communication while at the loft. There was no cell phone service, Kerry's internet went down, and the telephone in the loft wasn't charged so we couldn't communicate with the outside world. This could be romantic if you plan for it, but if you need to talk to your bank or make dinner plans you should be aware ahead of time.

The last night we were there the power went out and we lost electricity and air conditioning.

Overall the loft was a pleasant place to stay, but did not include most of the amenities listed on the page (there was no coffee and milk, wifi, air conditioning).

    Response from Kerry:

Thank you for your feedback, Maxwell! We enjoyed hosting you and glad you enjoyed our Loft. Wi fi has rarely been an issue and I am so sorry it went down during your stay. Wi fi is up and running again. Very occasionally the air conditioning circuit can trip- it's very easy to reset and instructions are conveniently posted on our information list on the coffee table. We supply many extra amenities which have come as a pleasant surprise to our regular guests and noted in reviews and guest book comments- coffee and milk are available next door at the Phoenicia Supermarket and are not offered in our listing - though we often leave tea, honey and treats.

  • Wonderful, romantic loft in a charming little town. We had an amazing time. The trip was worth it for the bathroom alone! Our hosts made us feel so very comfortable. I highly recommend.

  • We had the most delightful time! The loft is absolutely stunning, it will exceed your expectations. It is comfortable, quiet and serene. Kerry and Rebecca are fabulous hosts and do everything to make you feel welcome. Phoenicia is the type of town you want to come back to. The people are kind, the food is good and the landscape is breathtaking. 10 out of 10. We WILL be back.

  • Wonderful place. We had a great time staying here while snowboarding at Bellayre. Loved the giant tub and shower! It was so great to soak my sore muscles after a very long day of snowboarding. Phoenicia is such a charming town. I recommend the cookies at Mama's Boy. Great coffee there too. Great time at Brio's as well.

  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Kerry's spa loft this past weekend and had a wonderfully relaxing weekend. I instantly fell in love with the beautiful tub and wished I could take the comfy bed home with me. The place was very clean, well taken care of, and walking distance to snow tubing and delicious pizza. I would definitely stay here again/recommend his accommodations to friends. Thanks Kerry!!

  • The loft was beautiful and accurately depicted in the photographs. While it was insanely cold outside during our visit, the loft was nice and warm, and the luxury spa-like bathroom, with the giant tub and sauna built into the shower, was a perfect getaway from the elements.

We absolutely loved it here and are looking forward to coming back.

  • Kerry's loft was perfect. My boyfriend and I were looking for a quiet getaway from the city during Superbowl Sunday and we found it.
The loft was spacious, clean and offered better privacy than a traditional Bed+Breakfast. The pillow-top King bed was comfortable, the bathroom luxurious and the location was ideal - just a short walk to Phoenicia's quaint main street. Hunter and Windham mountains are only 30-40 minutes away by car. Although not mentioned on the listing, the loft also comes equipped with a microwave, mini-fridge, coffee maker and utensils, making this loft even more convenient.

  • My girlfriend and I had a great stay in this cozy loft. It's beautiful and private and a few steps right from the main street of town.

The bathroom is obviously the highlight of this place. The swiss shower combo steam room and full soaking tub are perfect after a day of skiing at nearby Belleayre.

  • Kerry's spa loft was the perfect little private getaway. The house was within a short walk to the charming little town of Phoenicia, and a short drive to some great restaurants. The Phoenicia diner was great, as well as Tavern 214 and the Peekamoose (my favorite). We would definitely stay here again!

  • Kerry was an attentive and gracious host. The loft was beautiful, well-furnished and plenty warm and cozy even during a big snow storm. He even helped de-ice my car windshield. The bathroom, specifically the soaker tub, is the highlight of the space. It provided a great escape weekend, while also feeling right at home.

About
I am originally from New Zealand and my wife Rebecca is from Scotland. We have been living in the States for the past 10 years. I'm an opera singer and have sung at opera houses and concert halls around the world. My time at the Sydney Opera House was my favorite! I love music,, nature, being with my family, and writing. I'm co-Founder of The Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice and I run the Kingston Festival of the Arts and Opera Theater of Kingston. My wife, Bex is from SW Scotland. We have two young kids- Edrick and Rosa. Edrick is 3 and a wild nature boy perfectly suited to his surroundings. Rosa is 8 and into pop music, art and the world of fashion. This town is going to be too rustic for her before too long and we'll need to get an apartment in Brooklyn or LA! We have lived in many places around the world, but think Phoenicia is one of the most beautiful- the nature here is astounding. Phoenicia is definitely one of the few remaining 'outpost towns'- somehow untouched by the rest of the world. It's sort of fun living over half an hour from the nearest mall, in a sort of semi-wilderness but only a couple of hours from the biggest city on earth! We now live in Kingston- just 30 minutes from the Village House at Phoenicia.
