Hele-On provides direct service to Kona International Airport at Keahole via the Pahala-Kona-South Kohala route, Monday through Saturday. There is one trip from Pahala, through Kailua-Kona and Ali’i Drive areas that arrives Kona International Airport at Keahole at 8:25 a.m. The return bus departs Kona International Airport at Keahole at 8:30 a.m. and 4:50 p.m. for Pahala through Kailua-Kona and Ali’i Drive areas.
There is limited bus service around the island, it is about 1 1/2 mile walk to the bus-stop. We recommend you get a rental car, as the walk from town is uphill.

Also easy access swimming and snorkeling at the beach in front of the King Kamehameha Hotel, about 7 minutes drive from our house. You can rent snorkel equipment at the beach.

Rowena gave us a warm to their peaceful house. There is a garage parking and a nice cat! It is a comfortable place to stay in big island!

Colin and Rowena's home is exactly as described; located in a nice, quiet neighborhood, quite easy to find, neat and clean. We were able to have a car port space for our rental car, which was a nice added perk. Rowena doesn't use any scented laundry products or household air fresheners, and as I am extremely sensitive to chemicals and smells, it made our stay comfortable. As we were busy with family we didn't get a chance to connect with Rowena again after she greeted us upon arrival and gave us the tour. Thank you for your hospitality.

Rowena made me feel very welcome from the moment we met. She is very pleasant as I'm sure Colin is as well. Unfortunately I did not get a chance to meet him as he was away at the time but hopefully next time we can sit down and chat about travel and food as we share an interest in both. The place was ideally located for getting around Kona. Highly recommend.

My wife Rowena and I moved to Kailua-Kona in 1996. We love it here in Kona, this is our last stop on our voyage through life! We have a catering business (URL HIDDEN) we coordinate and cater private parties, weddings and special events up to 70 guests. If you would like to enjoy a gourmet home-cooked dinner instead of going to a restaurant, we will be happy to accommodate you. Before moving to Kona we ran a 65ft charteryacht in the Virgin Islands, showing guests how to sail, snorkel and windsurf, providing 3 meals a day and open bar. In 1983 I sailed a 41ft sailboat from Los Angeles through the Panama Canal to the Virgin Islands, so we have lots of sea stories to share. I spent 20 years in LA in the aerospace business as well as studying law, having met my first wife Barbara In 1963 in Israel. We moved to LA from the Isle of Wight , England where my parents had a hotel, and where I had studied French and German.

Our interests include international cuisine(of course!),, gardening, backyard bird watching, photography.
