You can enjoy our peaceful neighborhood and yet be close to town.
We have one large private guest room with queen-sized double bed and large private adjoining bathroom with tub /shower. Towels and basic toiletries are provided.Our home is well ventilated and has ceiling fans. We are located on a quiet residential cul-de-sac. You are welcome to enjoy our large lanai with ocean and sunset views, and cool breezes, if you want to bring some food home. Enjoy tropical fruit trees, orchids and Hawaiian birds in our lush landscaped garden. Limited space in shared refrigerator.
Facilities for cooking are not available.
Guest parking in carport, WIFI available.

We are at 500ft elevation, overlooking Kailua Bay, about 5 minutes drive from the center of town as well as waterfront restaurants and stores.
Bus service from Kona International Airport
Hele-On provides direct service to Kona International Airport at Keahole via the Pahala-Kona-South Kohala route, Monday through Saturday. There is one trip from Pahala, through Kailua-Kona and Ali'i Drive areas that arrives Kona International Airport at Keahole at 8:25 a.m. The return bus departs Kona International Airport at Keahole at 8:30 a.m. and 4:50 p.m. for Pahala through Kailua-Kona and Ali'i Drive areas.
There is limited bus service around the island, it is about 1 1/2 mile walk to the bus-stop. We recommend you get a rental car, as the walk from town is uphill.
There is good snorkeling and swimming at Kahalu'u beach, about 15 minutes drive south of us, with easy ocean access for beginners. Also easy access swimming and snorkeling at the beach in front of the King Kamehameha Hotel, about 7 minutes drive from our house. You can rent snorkel equipment at the beach.
Maximum length of stay is five nights, since we have to use the laundry which is in the guest bathroom.
ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING ON OR NEAR THE PROPERTY.
LOCAL ZONING LAW PREVENTS US FROM PROVIDING BREAKFAST. Guests are welcome to bring prepared food to the house and have a meal on our lanai. Cooking facilities are not available.
Interaction with Guests
We are home most of the time. We like to interact with our guests, greet them when they arrive, help them decide where to go and what to see on the Big Island, and share our travel experiences.
We live on a quiet cul-de -sac in one of the older subdivisions (with underground utility lines). We are fairly close to town, we get cool ocean breezes on our ocean-facing lanai.. We enjoy the sound of the birds during the day, and the lack of noise at night. We have a beautiful shady garden with lots of trees and flowering plants.
There is a very limited bus service around the island but it is about I mile walk to the bus-stop. There is a shuttle bus in town that goes along the waterfront for about 5 miles, with stops at some shopping areas. We strongly recommend that visitors rent a car, as it is a steep walk from town to our house. Parking is available in our car-port under the house.
Other Things to Note
Our guest facilities are a bedroom and adjoining bathroom in our two-bedroom, two bathroom home. They are not totally separate from our living space. Our guests share our home and we try to respect each other's privacy.
