The Space

We have a fantastic 3 BR 3 BA Manhattan Beach house just .5 miles to ocean's edge. It's been remodeled and updated but still carries the flavor of an original Manhattan Beach cottage. This is a perfect spot to see LA, its beaches, and hang out for family and friends.

The house is two stories with the master queen and bath upstairs along with a second bedroom with a twin and private bath. Downstairs is the 3rd bedroom with a queen and there is a full bath that can also be used as a powder room. House has an office, a TV/hang out room, a kitchen that overlooks a small living room with fireplace and dining table. Frontyard has pretty garden with a small koi pond. Back porch is a great eating porch. All decor is beach ad the home has a great feel to it.

House is well maintained with all amenities needed from linens to full kitchen. Kitchen has a professional DCS range. House has 2 HD TVs with DVR and full cable movie channels, Internet, Phone with local and long distance. Every other week cleaning service for long term rentals. House also includes a fireplace, 2 jacuzzi tubs, central heating, ceiling fans, travertine tiled floors.

Parking is street parking and plenty of that.

Location is fantastic. 10 minutes to LAX and all major shopping within 1.5 miles. Downtown Manhattan Beach is .9 miles. Manhattan Beach "North End" with bars, cofee, shops, massage, yoga is just .25 miles. Again ocean is .5 miles and walking.

House does not have an ocean view but again it is just .5 mile walk to ocean edge and sits in the "tree section" about 2 blocks from sand dune park. Neighborhood is VERY safe! This home is mine and I lived here for 12 years. We are temporarily living in another city for work reasons and will be back one day but want others to enjoy this fantastic home. We are great hosts and will help you get acclimated on your arrival. Although we want you to have fun, we also want to emphasize that this house sits in a residential neighborhood and our neighbors are families and working people- that being said- this is not a party all night house!! We ask that the noise rules be adheared to and 10 PM- 8 AM is quiet time/shut it down time or take it to the bars or elsewhere!

Manhattan Beach is an incredible place. It is known for its active outdoor life style including surfing and beach volleyball. Bike paths, beachs, running paths all part of the small community. Main downtown area has amazing shops, bars, restaurants. Manhattan Beach public schools are all rated "10" and the community is very active and involved. A great family town. And, although only 30% of Manhattan Beach is single, it ranks as the "Best US City for Rich Singletons"- so it is a great place for family or singles :)! Manhattan Beach is one of a kind and truly spectacular!

  • We had a great stay in Kona; we're only sorry that we didn't stay for longer. Neva's apartment is perfectly located in the centre of town, and we made great use of the pool and hot tub. Neva's communication was great - a very minor issue that we had was responded to quickly. I would definitely recommend this room, and I hope that when we return to Kona we can stay here again!

  • Our host was absolutely wonderful! We had everything that we needed. The condo was exactly as advertised with a relaxing lanai, scenic grounds, awesome pool and friendly at the front desk.

  • I stayed at Neva's apartment for a couple of days together with my husband. The apartment is well located and clean. It was easy to park our car in the available parking lot. I would go back if I ever have the chance to visit Kona again!

    Response from Neva:

Aloha Renate, thank you for your stay, we enjoyed having you. I have asked Ellen to check the router position next door. If it does not get any better I will make a change in August when I am back on island. The front desk will also give my guests the internet code for the lobby,. Thank you for letting me know and we hope it did not distract too much from your stay. Have many fun adventures. Mahalo, Neva

    Response from Neva:

Thank you for your feedback Tobias- I will speak to Ellen about the WiFi as it is supposed to be right next door. It works best from the lanai but I hope it was not too much of an inconvenience! Thank you again for your stay and safe travels. We enjoyed having you. Warmest aloha, ND

  • We stayed in Neva's condo for 3 nights and it was perfect. It was located in downtown Kona near restaurants, stores and beaches. It was hard to find at first, but soon realized it was actually part of a complex that would also rent out rooms when available (Kona Islander Inn & Hotel). When we got there, we checked in with a lady at the front desk who gave us a free parking pass and passcode to Neva's studio. There was no hassle with picking up and returning which was really convenient for us. Parking was also free and we never had a hard time finding a spot in the lot.

The studio had a good size fridge and the kitchen came with all the essential utensils and even tubberware and saran wrap that we used to pack lunches for our day trips. The bathroom was small but had everything we needed including towels. The bedroom area was also very clean and organized. The pillows were also very comfortable! Neva also left a copy of The Big Island Revealed book on the coffee table. We actually bought a copy of the book ahead of time because Neva recommended it and we're really glad we followed his advice.

Also, Neva's pricing was really reasonable. We actually stayed at Royal Kona resort for our last night on the Big Island, which was down the block from Neva's place, and it was about $40 more expensive with no free parking and was actually further from most of the shops and restaurants. It wasn't any more or less comfortable, so Neva's studio was definitely worth the price we paid per night!

On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the highest), I'd give Neva's studio the following:
    Cleanliness: 5
    Accessibility: 5
    Comfort: 5
Amenities: 3 (had some difficulties with wifi connection)

  • The place was great. It was in a prime location with easy access to restaurants and stores. Neva provided me with great information about the island that really made my stay fantastic. I would definitely stay there again.

  • We enjoyed our stay at Neva's Ohana which is located in close walking proximity to to Kona's touristic center. We used the apartment as a hub to explore the diversity of Big Island (staying in Kona only is just not enough!). The condo has a roomy kitchen area, a comfy bed and a multichannel TV set. Usage of a beach umbrella, cooler and a small boogie board is complimentary.

  • This place is very clean and in downtown Kona! Very convenient for everything. The parking is free also. Snorkeling gears and beach towels all prepared so we don't need to rent. Recommended!

I am a former professional cyclist. Like being outside a lot! Beaches, Mountains, Sun, Snow- its all good. I love to travel. Favorite recent trip was traveling around the United States in a 16' Airstream for 8 months. Not adverse to main stream hotels but I traveled for work and spent the night in them for many years and would prefer to stay in unique and more intimate places. Think AirBnB is a fantastic alternative to traditional travel!
