WE ARE NOW TAKING BOOKINGS FOR 1 NIGHT - MIN STAY @ £128 A NIGHT OFFER ENDS - END OF APRIL 2013.
This very comfortable apartment sleeps up to 4 people and enjoys a very central London location.
Centrally located on the Circle line within a 10 minute tube journey of Baker Street and Oxford Circus. The apartment is surrounded by a wealth of London's top attractions including St Pauls, The Barbican Exhibition Hall, and the vibrant and eclectic Old Street are all close by. The apartment is located within the charming borough of Islington, a perfect base for exploring London!
In the local area you will find everything you need for a great stay; there are supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, bars, museums, and a cinema all within walking distance. The area also has great transportation links. The Barbican Underground Station is a very short walk from the apartment and gives you access to the Circle, Hammersmith and City, and Metropolitan Lines. The apartment is also conveniently located for Farringdon Train Station, where there is a regular service to Gatwick and Luton airports. There are also many buses, including night bus service.
Was a really nice stay. Quite easy to find, fresh clean and cool
- Tons of natural light, skylight in bathroom
- 2 min walk from Barbican station & grocery store, good directions to place from John
- Were able to drop bags before official check in time (thank you!); Called to find key and John was super helpful
- Supplies: Hairdryer, dishes, pans ample, bedding, towels provided
- Quiet, quaint neighborhood
- Reliable wifi
- Hard to find at first (in a little alley)
- No oven in kitchen
- Strange clicking noise... not sure if coming from downstairs?
The apartment was close enough to the city center without going too far. It's in a safe and quiet neighborhood, so we didn't have any problems coming back late at night. Check in and out was a breeze! Sleeps 3 comfortably and everything we needed was on-site. Bring your own toiletries. Our two complaints: 1) Water pressure and heat quality was low. 2) There was a LOUD water dripping noise by the bed, which made it impossible to sleep.
Me and two friends stayed at Mark's place for two nights and we had a good time. The apartment is centrally located and it is only a few blocks away from the nearest tube station. The apartment itself was exactly what we expected and it looks just like what you can see on the pictures. There was definitely enough space for three people.
Even though we didn't actually meet Mark, he made a very nice impression on us. He answered on our emails right away and made sure that we were having a nice stay.
I would totally recommend the glasshouse apartment.
The apartment was clean and tidy with everything needed for a short stay in London. The location was very convenient and easy to catch the underground to attractions all over London. Mark was great with communication and provided fantastic directions for self check in. The central heating did not appear to be working, but there was another heater in the apartment that provided enough warmth.
perfectly located for everyone planning a theatre night at the barbican. 5 minutes walk from the barbican centre, 10 minutes walk from st. paul's. nice restaurants nearby. the loft itself is nicely arranged with enough space for 3 people. and although we had some technical problems with the keys - mark was easily to reach and we could solve everything via telephone.
My wife and I stayed for 4 nights last weekend and definitely found more negatives than positives with Glasshouse 2.
On the positives...we found Mark to be very quick and helpful in his communication whilst booking the flat. Also, the flat location is very close to Barbican and Farringdon tube.
We have a 6 month old daughter and this flat is absolutely not suitable for people with babies as it is up 2 flights of spiral stairs which makes it SO difficult to get a pram up, especially since the light didn't work, so coming home at night and getting our sleeping baby upstairs was a real problem. I would have really appreciated Mark telling us about the stairs before we booked as he was aware we had a small baby.
Once we got in the flat we were pretty disappointed as it looked much shabbier and uncared for than it looked in the photos. The front door handle fell off straight away! (A knife an superglue siting on the window sill suggests this us a recurring problem!) For example, the toilet bowl was dirty and stained, the blind cords were falling off the wall, the cupboard door to the washing machine was falling apart, the plant was dying, the carpet obviously hadn't been vacuumed, the shower drained was blocked and filled up really quickly. I would guess the hot water is connected in all 4 flats as the shower went from hot to cold whilst showering.
Pillows very lumpy and uncomfortable too.
So, all in all, we were not impressed with what we got for what we paid!
We had a pleasant stay at Glasshouse 2 for six nights. The apartment is conveniently located a couple of minutes from Barbican station and a mini supermarket. There is also a Boris Bicycle station very close by.
The apartment is well presented and for those staying in the winter, it has ample heating. There are various amenities including a washing machine and travel plugs.
On the first day, we had a hot water issue and Mark attended to the issue the next morning promptly.
Concerns for the cleanliness and health & safety hazards of the apartments that we rented over the period of 5th to the 8th of September 2013. all apartments were rented for a family wedding taking place in Islington.
Entrance to Apartments the bottom of the spiral staircase was used as a storage area for cleaning agents Loo rolls & rubbish bin etc. Fire Hazard?
Apartment 3; 2; & 1, we found cockroaches
The shower in No 2 flooded every time the shower was used, on closer inspection the shower drain was blocked with debris and hair, which had been there for some time. The toilet in no 1 leaked round the bottom flooding the floor with raw sewage.
when no: 3 had a shower, the water dripped through the ceiling to the apartment below, we do feel the drainage & plumbing is in need of an overhaul, Lots of Lime scale in all bathrooms, . On inspection to the ceilings of apartments 3 & 4, it is clear there has been a previous problem. The washing machine in No: 4 was /is a nightmare, through a normal wash, the machine broke down, and we could not drain or do anything to get it to work, we had to leave an £80 dress locked inside when we left. The cleaner needs to take a look under the beds once in a while.
I have read other comments on the guest feedback it is clear that there has been a problem before.
I suggest that food stuff left by previous tenants, be removed, as they appear to have been sitting around for some time, and most of it is stale. The food cupboards need a good clean.
Keys were not available to open the windows to have some fresh air, in to air the apartments. Especially as there was a problem with the boiler in the No: 1 apartment, (A temperature of 30 degrees was recorded) resulting in the Handyman having to isolate the radiator, in order to have some form of comfortable atmosphere.
A phone call from a specialist that would arrive on the Saturday to mend this. This did not happen.
Apartment 3 with the balcony, had the ladder hanging off outside.
The bed in Apartment 3 fell apart, the Handyman did return in and repair it.
Having said all the above in our opinion the apartments are perfectly situated for central London, But all Apartments require considerable updating. Health & Safety Issues need overhauling & ventilation should be high on the list. I think the pictures on the web site were taken when the apartments were newly furbished.
Mark's place is very convenient for getting around London - couldn't beat the underground right down the street and the Tesco express nearby. As others have said, the sofabed is ok for two children but not two adults. Everything else is as represented.
