About this listing
Old fishermen house right in the heart of the island of Old Gallipoli. One of the nicest terraces in town with a breathtaking view on the Cathedral and the Jonian sea.
A few minutes walking from parking, Puritate beach and fish market.
The Old Town of Gallipoli is an island, surrounded by antique walls and connected to the land by a small bridge. As you can see you're right in the centre of it...
First of all consider this: this is our place, so don't expect a hotel with immaculated walls, same colours towels and chocolate on the pillow!
The flat is inside an old buiding in the heart of Gallipoli Old Town (2nd and last floor). It consists of a roomy, fully equipped kitchen, a main bedroom with a double bed plus a single one, a second bedroom with a double bed and a bathroom: total of 70 square meters. A wooden stair leads to the upper floor where lays a wonderfule terrace (same area: 70 square meters) from wich you overlook the whole island and, all around, the Jopnian sea. It's our "main room" where we spend most of the time when we're at home: breakfast, lunch, siesta, aperitive, dinner... A barrel roofing protects by the sun and a costant breeze keep it cool (Tramontana, Libeccio o Scirocco). There's a dining table, a comfortable amaca, a small but efficient bbq, a sink (cold and hot water), a washing mashine and, at night, amazing starry sky!
The building faces a small court, two alleys and Carmelina's apartment (she's a very sweet neighbour and lives there the whole year). Being right in the centre of the Old Town, in five minutes walking you reach all the points of interest of the area: the S.Agata Cathedral, the fish market, a number of shops, the amazing Puritate beach, a number of very fine restaurants. And just losing yourself among the narrow alleys of Gallipoli it's a charming experience. Every other day a small van adventures itself till your alley to sell fresh fruit and vegetables from the countryside (you'll clearly hear the vendors calls).
As long as you are in the Old Town you don't need any mean of transportation, exept for a good pair of sandals. If you get there by car, you have to leave it at the port parking and, in five minutes, get up a stair on the antique walls a walk two blocks till home.
Sounds, scents, lighs and colours are unforgettable!
We would like to recommend one things: there are five sleeping places and this means that a maximum of five people is allowed.
Niente di speciale. Ricordate solo che si tratta di casa nostra, con le nostre cose in giro, per cui un po' di attenzione è gradita. :-)
Nothing special. Just rimember it's our place, with all our things around, so we beg you for some attention. :-)
