Where you’ll be

Garden Valley, Idaho, United States

We are located on the south side of the South Fork Payette River Wildlife Scenic Byway. Our property is the 7 acre heart of a once 176 acre heritage homestead and includes one of the oldest & best preserved barns in Garden Valley. The main road up this side of Grimes Creek used to pass directly in front of the ranch house and was a major stage stop on the way to the mines. There once stood a two story hotel across from the house that even boasted a one lane bowling alley out the back. The Bunch brothers built two homes along the south fork and if you head up the road a few miles you'll spot a house with a red and silver striped roof. That house was a twin to ours and has never been renovated. It still has a three sided wrap around porch with the front door in it's original location on the south face. Admire from a distant; they are dead serious about no trespassing.

My husband Dan and I are the stewards of a historic hot spring ranch. We have my beautiful mom to thank for finding this spiritual place and helping us share a truly unique experience with the world. Geothermal water enchants us and we now honor the gift of considering ourselves hot spring wranglers. Dan is an Idaho native and I was born & raised in Riverton, Wyoming. We lived in Boise for almost 20 years and escaped every chance we had. We backpacked all over; enjoying the most amazing back country soaks there are to be had. I teach yoga, public speaking, theater, and writing. My husband is an accomplished writer.

During your stay

We will send you an acceptance message and an email about a week ahead of your stay with further details. We own the property, live on-site, and are active around the place. We won't be in your business, but are busy with maintenance & improvement. We're available for advice on restaurants, driving or hiking tours, and the many fun activities and attractions on site, around our valley, and beyond. We'd love to point you in the right direction to maximize your enjoyment. Access to the river and source require an initial, guided tour. Once we familiarize you with the way, you're free to spend as much time as you'd like. Always use extreme caution. If you've soaked in other hot springs, please be sure to shower and thoroughly wash your bathsuit and any other items you took with you to avoid the spread of red spider mites. Our Welcome Guide has details about these monsters or do a web search, you'll see, yikes! You DO NOT want to get infested with these demons and it is imperative we protect our pristine waters from any contamination.
