The Rainbow Plantation is a lovely hideaway tucked in a mountainside of Captain Cook. The lush grounds are rich with beautiful plants, colorful flowers, chickens and Romeo, the peacock. Also the Hawaiian style outdoor communal kitchen has a rustic charm. Christian's place is secluded yet centrally located enough that moving around The Big Island was simple. Christian and his team are friendly and very accommodating. Christian offers a lot of good tips and connections for seeing and experiencing the sights and attractions. Next time I'm on The Big Island I will be back at The Rainbow Plantation.
Was a GREAT stay --- Awesome breakfasts which included some fun conversations with the other guests and some of the helpers. Christain was very hospitable and helpful .... May suggest arriving in the daylight if you don't have GPS... we got a bit delayed and in the dark was a little challenging
Great location in the country-close enough to Kona if you like the touristy stuff and close to great snorkeling. Christian was super patient about answering any questions we had about things to do in the area. Breakfast is simple, yet perfectly satisfying. We stayed in the budget room which was fine, but if you can afford a little more get one of the other rooms (or the boat!) while the prices are still amazing for what you get.
Lovely property in a great part of the island. Near excellent snorkeling and nightlife. We met a lot of nice people while enjoying a delicious breakfast on the balcony overlooking the ocean. Much of the fruit was grown on the property. Also, Christian had snorkeling equipment, towels, etc. to loan us, plus was great with suggestions.
The reservation was canceled 22 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We stayed at Christian's for 4 nights while on the Big Island, spending 1 night in Hilo in between. The bnb had an adventurous atmosphere, with fruit growing, chickens walking around and even a peacock. The room itself was clean and private, with its own tv and bathroom. The location of the inn was in the heart of Kona's coffee farms, there was great snorkeling about a 10 minute drive away. We drove to several other beaches on the other side of the West coast as well. Christian was very helpful in suggesting places to visit and the free morning breakfasts were very convenient and very delicious.
We had a great stay at the peaceful tropical B & B. The bed was really comfy and the breakfast was great. I loved having the jungle kitchen to make my own food/picnic,and enjoyed the chickens and peacock on the grounds. I would definitely stay here again..it was a fun and comfortable environment!
Amazing place away from all the touristy hype. Our room was beautiful: clean, stylish, comfortable, big and cozy bed. Christian and the rest of the staff were kind and relaxed. Can´t wait to go back!
The place is beautiful! The beds are comfortable, the food is delicious. The kitchen is a bit sparse and the lack of lighting makes it hard to cook at night, but that is really my only gripe. I strongly recommend this place.
Christian is a gracious and patient host.
We really enjoyed our stay at Christian's Rainbow Plantation B&B. It was a perfect setting -- quiet, secluded, and surrounded by tropical flora and fauna -- from which to enjoy the Big Island. Breakfast included good coffee and delicious tropical fruits, and was served on a spacious lanai with an expansive view of the ocean. Christian, who just bought the place earlier this year, is a gracious and helpful host. We benefited tremendously from his suggestions about hikes to take, lesser known beaches to visit, and other memorable activities to do around the island. He lent us snorkeling equipment to use at the nearby Kealakekua Bay, and he gave us a beautiful peacock feather that one of his birds had shed. As the property's new owner, Christian is making lots of improvements to it. We hope to get back in the future to see how he has made the place even better!
