We enjoyed our stay. Within walking distance to Gaslamp, public transportation. This was our first experience with a own property and not a hotel.
We had the best time! The location was great, the place had everything we needed and it was easy check-in and check-out. Amy even helped my guy surprise me with flowers and champagne upon arrival - above and beyond! We would definitely return.
Our stay here was perfect! Any was great and easy to deal with. The apartment was so cute and home-y. We loved it!
What can we say but Wow! The Location, the Cottage, but most importantly the host!
We had the most amazing time in San Diego thanks to Amy and her Cottage, we didn't want to leave!
We were walking distance to anywhere in the city pretty much and then anywhere else was just a bus or trolley ride away (which was within 5 mins walk). From the bars and restaurants of gaslight or little Italy to Horton Plaza (and Jimbo's the most amazing healthy supermarket!) to a stroll around the water.
The cottage was beautiful and huge! Kitchen was great for cooking and we made good use of the laundry facilities as well.
What really made the trip though was the way Amy looked after us, nothing was too much trouble from extending our stay to sending a repair man within hours when we put out the stove pilot light and couldn't relight it.
We can't recommend Amy and her Cottages enough, we will be back soon!
Frankly, I was disappointed in the apartment ...
the ground had not seen a mop since long time, and the bathroom still had hair from previous occupants, and it is small, really small especially the shower door ..
I do not do "that difficult" but there is a minimum of cleanliness!
otherwise, the apartment is well located, you can not open the shutters lot (the neighbors can see you ....), the air conditioning is very loud and really annoying.
the apartment is very nice, well decorated, the food is very pleasant in use.
to park the car, it's a bit restrictive, but you get there!
the only "negatives" = cleanliness, air conditioning.

My friend and I came down to SD for a girls weekend and this was a perfect place to stay! Central location to bars and restuarants and a great place to hang out for a mellow evening in. We walked to Little Italy and the Gas Lamp and would happily stay here again.
One tip- bring your own pillow! They are a little flimsy. Otherwise, the bed was super comfy!
My boyfriend and I had an excellent stay at this lovely victorian home. The best part about it was the location, walking distance to the Gaslamp, Little Italy and the marina (boat area). One of the best airbnb experiences I have ever had. I wish I could have stayed longer! I look forward to staying here again next time I take a trip to San Diego!
We had a pleasant stay at the Carriage House, though we probably wouldn't return. It's nicely situated, within a 6-minute walk to Little Italy and a 12-minute walk to Gaslamp. But if using it for anything more than a quick place to crash between excursions to other SD neighborhoods, I wouldn't recommend it.
The location of the house is a little sketchy (there are homeless people camped out on each adjoining street) and the parking is definitely an issue, unless you get lucky with the non-metered spots on Beech. Otherwise, you have to use pay lots or metered spots (8a-6p). There are parking spots on the property, behind the gate and on the bricks, so it'd be nice if they offered those to guests.
The inside of the property is best described as cold and lacking any attention to detail. It doesn't (email hidden)d-in feel and screams rental property, but not in a good way. The toilet paper was the cheapest, thinnest variety. The bathroom fans are very loud and go on every time you turn on the light. The smoke detector is right outside the shower and goes off due to steam; only way to avoid is to shower with door closed. The pillows on the bed are super thin and felt like the cheapest options at a big-box retailer. The thermostat was confusing to operate and there were no instructions. And in the information binder left by the owner, there was a calendar of events in the area for the month of May; our visit was in December.
The positives of the place included the bed, which is king-size memory foam and very comfortable to sleep on. Being within walking distance of restaurants/shops/bars was also a big plus. Communication with the owner pre-visit was always prompt.
To reiterate, the property was fine for my wife and I on a two-day getaway over New Years. We spent most of our time in and around the city, so it served us well in that way. But on a return trip to SD, we'd opt to stay elsewhere.
Really great location, within minutes of everything, cute and functional
Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Amy was responsive when we contacted here but we did have some hiccups that we encountered.
The interior space was cozy and worked well for our needs. The bed is very comfortable and the shower had good water pressure and ample hot water. The dresser had plenty of space for our clothes when we unpacked. Kitchen is fully stocked with dishware and utensils and the fridge is full sized. FYI, If you have young kids, you will need to bring around 16 outlet covers.
WiFi was advertised but did not work when we arrived on Friday night. We let Amy know and she called us back promptly and indicated she would contact the IT person to fix it. We did not hear back from her so we followed up on Saturday and she tried again. Apparently they don't work weekends so when we were checking out on Monday he showed up and fixed it. On one had Amy was responsive to our issue but on the other hand the result was that we did not have any WiFi for the duration of our stay. Another thing that caught us by surprise was that the description for the property did not mention that there was no parking included -- after we booked, the confirmation email did describe that there was free overnight parking on the street if you could find it or there were also pay lots. Would have been nice to know that before we had booked as it might have affected our decision (We let Amy now this and she plans to update the description). Getting stuff from the car to the unit took some effort since we could not park that close and we had to manage our two young children.
