  • I loved staying here! Everything is just as it looks/seems. The apartment is clean and in a really cute residential area. It's close to San Juan airport, near the beach, has Wi-Fi access and is close to some local restaurants and a little jazz place called Marimba. It is a little small, but if you're looking to feel more like a local than a tourist, your experience will be great!

  • This studio is so convenient to this part of San Juan, and it's really a pretty part of the city. Beach is close and nearby park lends itself to lots of people watching.
Studio itself is small, but as described in write up. A few things could make it a bit more inviting: getting rid of chipped dishes in kitchen, adding another towel rack or two and another shower caddy in bath, and providing blender for kitchen. Studio is clean and quiet. Nice place for a few days. Complimentary bottle of rum was appreciated!

  • To be very honest, this is a great value for what you pay for. The place is somewhat small, but it has everything you need to have a fun vacation including beach chairs, grills, a LOT of DVD's and some rum and coke to welcome you when you come in.

My only caution would be about bikes. I'm not much of a bike person, so perhaps I missed some easy fix for the bikes that I was unaware of. Bike #1 had handlebars that vertically swung up and down we couldn't tighten. The brakes on bike #2 didn't work, so we ended up walking or cabbing most of the time.

  • What a lovely little place! Mike and Tanya left us drinks on our arrival and made checking in and out super easy! Mike was also great about responding to questions via email before we arrived. The apartment was clean, and there were plenty of fresh towels and sheets... There kitchen was outfitted with everything you need to make a meal, including oil and some spices! But you probably won't need that because there are some excellent local places to get food, like Mofongo, within walking distance.

The apartments is located in a safe, quiet neighborhood that is off the beaten path, but not too far off! Parking out front was a breeze. The beach really is only two blocks away, and it's very nice. My husband and I walked there every day of our stay. Mike and Tanya even have beach chairs and things you can borrow, so we were able to really kick back and have fun and relax while at the beach.

We'll stay here again if we make it back to Puerto Rico. Thanks Mike and Tanya!

  • The studio is tiny but has all amenities. Two chairs for sitting at the table would be helpful. Good American TV. Wonderful location near the beach with towels, toys and chairs to use. That is great. Also we used the bikes twice to go into town. A bit of maintenance on the bikes would go along way. Mike was charming and very helpful. Would highly recommend this location to a couple who get along.

  • Mike was an incredible host. He quickly answered any questions I had prior to booking (last minute) and was also very accommodating throughout. His wonderful place was super clean, and since we decided to take a last minute trip, we forgot to bring all out beach stuff. He had everything we needed - cooler, drinks, chairs, etc.

His place was less than 2 blocks from the beach and about a $15 cab ride to OSJ. We ended up walking everywhere and found it super convenient. I highly recommend this place and will definitely stay here again.

  • As advertised, but be prepared for matters that are outside the host's control. Mike will respond and help you with whatever you need related to his offering. The issues we had were more with the overall feel, look, and sounds of the immediate surrounding area.

The property is located in a neighborhood that is blocks away from a bordering housing project that apparently has caused so much crime in the past (not sure about current stats) that the entire community installed a gating system at the bordering streets, just about everyone has vicious guard dogs that will snarl and bark at you as you walk down the surrounding streets, just about every property has huge gates surrounding it and some have spikes or barbed wire on top of the gates, and every block or half block or so depending, you will find completely destroyed buildings with graffiti.

This Ocean Park home located near Parque Barbosa is considered a decent area by the locals..but I believe its on one of those fringe streets with the neighborhood showing scars of the past. If you walk oceanfront and go down to Parque Barbosa and towards Condado it gets better. Some folks spend most of their time out and about, others like to spend time in the unit they rented and relax a bit.. for the latter, its not a great fit. Its a place to sleep & shower, its small (as advertised, max 2 people who are very close to one another and do not have a lot of belongings), intermittent periods of quiet, but generally sounds of people, local's music, constant dogs barking, it is truly a budget conscious place to stay and the inconveniences generally associated with such cost savings.

Not saying don't give it a try, just pace your expectation so you are not disappointed.

  • I enjoyed staying at Mike and Tanya Esparza's cozy garden/beach studio. It had a kitchen that was very well-equipped so that I was able to prepare meals with ease. The location was convenient to the beach, markets, and restaurants. And it was very comfortable
    staying there.

  • My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. It was clean, cute, cozy and convenient to everything. There are bicycles, along with beach chairs, beach towels, and a cooler to use while staying here.
It's in a nice neighborhood. Only 1 block to a quiet and non crowded beach. We arrived about an hour early and MIke let us check in early. We would definitely stay here again and would hightly recommend this cozy studio.

  • Mike was so helpful and responsive! The location of the studio is pretty great. There are lots of delicious, non-touristy restaurants around (La B de Burro, Pa'l Cielo, Kasalta, etc.), the beach is RIGHT there, and the neighborhood seems safe. If you want to go to a more bumping area, getting to Condado and Old San Juan isn't too hard, especially with the free bikes. The bikes aren't in great condition, but they get you from point A to point B, and it was great to be able to get around on our own. It was a lovely time! Definitely recommend it.
