We visited Dublin as group of five for four days. Ian's place is basic, but comfortable. However, from description and photos, we expected it to be bit more plush than we found it. Ian made us feel comfortable. A few of appliances and things needed attention, and he promptly came down to fix them.
Host was great, quick to respond, kind and helpful. He waved the towel fee when we dropped two people late in the going, which was nice.
The property was run down and a lot tighter on space than you would expect (for a place that can supposedly take double digits in occupants) . We were seven guys, all had to share or sleep in tight beds and I don't see how you'd fit the full compliment in to the flat.
The property itself is tired, has poor plumbing and is in a less than desirable neighbourhood. The en-suite shower backed up the first night (which, to his credit, the host sorted) and the upstairs shower started leaking through the floor to the downstairs bedroom on the third day through normal use (at which point the host asked us not to use it).
The neighbourhood is a small residential block surrounded by industrial and big-box retail space. The neighbour on one side is collecting tire, on the other side is a car-garage.
If you want somewhere to crash while you drink away a weekend in Dublin, this is fine. If you want a place you would spend any time in other than sleeping (the beds were fine), I'd look for something more refined.
My family (7 of us) thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was perfect and so comfortable; a real home away from home. Ian is a great host; friendly, always available for any questions, and extremely willing to accommodate our early arrival time. When we arrived at the house he had some essentials waiting for us; it was a lovely surprise and very much appreciated even though we couldn't finish it all. Ian was such a pleasure to deal with and I wouldn't hesitate to stay at one of his properties again. Thanks for everything Ian!!
Appartement sympa, quartier calme. Chambres agréables, lit confortable.
Prévoir un budget pour les transports.
L'appartement est situé près de l'aéroport, mais assez loin du centre.
The house is charming and the location is very convenient.
Ian is responsive and kind. We really enjoyed our stay even though it was only a few days.
