Beautiful apartment in great location. Also got a great workout going up and down the stairs :) Val was fantastic and gave us the run down of the place. Would love to stay again whenever we come back to Nice.
This is such a great place, perfect location, easy to get to, and stunning on the inside. It was more spacious than it looked with everything you could possibly need.
Our host and Val who looked after us while we were there were extremely helpful and friendly
We really enjoyed our stay in Mr Dq's flat. It's located in the old town which is just few steps away from the market, restaurants, castle park and beach. The flat is spacious, clean and stylish, only one thing to note is that the flat is on 4th floor there's no elevator in this old building so it might be a problem if you need to carry serval big suitcases.
The listed description of the apartment was accurate. I very much appreciated the fact that staples were available - things like coffee/salt/pepper/olive oil/dishwasher tablets. It took a little while to get the tv system working but once we found the handwritten instructions it was no problem. Although the apartment was 4 storeys up with no lift this was very well compensated by the fact that the apartment was right in the very middle of the old town. The closest restaurant was right next door.
First off, we had a great time. We were there for 1 full week. The apartment/flat was just what we needed. In the heart of Vieux Nice as described. We spent most of our time exploring Nice and the surrounding areas and used the apartment as a home base, mostly for sleeping. We used the shower, tub, washer/dryer and all worked well. The shower was actually really nice. I wish our shower at home was this strong. We ate out mostly so didn't use the kitchen much. Valerie met with us a little before check in time which was great as our airline arrived early. She went over the details of the apartment and answered our many questions. Both Valerie and the host (Mr. DQ) were very responsive to emails/messages through AirB&B and frequently responded almost immediately to our questions. We would definitely go again if the opportunity presented itself. The 4th floor was not really a big deal for us (after you climb Castle Hill it puts things in perspective). I will mention to be careful at night as the hallway lights are on a timer. If the lights time out while you are on the steps, it is hard to see anything. I would recommend this apartment to anyone unless someone in the party has trouble with stairs.
I am so pleased that we found this listing in Nice. The response time from Mr. Dq when I requested the reservation was incredibly fast. Sometimes, other hosts for other locations take a long time to respond which can be frustrating when you are in a hurry to book someplace.
So, let me run down the list of things which I enjoyed about this booking. First, the location is fantastic in the heart of the Old Town. Second, the apartment itself is very clean and modern and comfortable. I personally appreciate when an owner has dimmers and great ambient lighting instead of bright lights. Third, the bathtub was great!!! Large and inviting and comfortable. Definitely NOT the typical bathtub in Europe (nor even in North American hotels!!!). Fourth, the rain shower is very nice.
Fifth, Val was so pleasant and personal upon our arrival. She gave an excellent overview of the location and spent a good amount of her own time to explain the remotes for the tv/satellite/stereo. She also gave wonderful recommendations for restaurants (hint, definitely spend one evening at La Ville de Sienne which is right downstairs from the apartment. We had a table facing the chef at the wood fired grill and we had a wonderful learning session watching him making gnocchi……really a treat).
I would definitely recommend this apartment and host to anyone who wants a prime location in Nice.
I only have one slight caution…due to the stairs, it might not be the best place if you have elderly visitors with you. (I know that it would not be possible for my 82 year old mother to manage these stairs). But for persons who are in average shape, GO FOR IT!!!
The apartment is beautiful, huge and well-equipped. Perfect location just around the corner from the flower market and 3 min walk from the beach. We stayed for a week - loved the experience! One thing to note is that the apartment is on the 4th floor of a building wih no lift. I was 7,5 months pregnant so it took me some time to get up those stairs but in hindsight it was great to get daily exercise - I actually miss those stairs now:)
Haha. Thanks for the lovely review Lana. It is indeed a fact that despite the little bit of huff and puff required you soon miss the fun of climbing the 300 year old stairs...and its an excuse for everything from the extra portion of pasta to the after dinner ice cream at the famous Fenocchio's just around the corner!
